  • Dammit I just ordered one of these yesterday for $55 delivered

i believe they also work with the nintendo switch. hopefully anyway otherwise i've wasted $55 :D

    • Should do!

Accidentally posted the wrong link with a referral code below oops.

    • Works with the switch, I have the same setup for on the road.

    • Yep works with the Switch, though don't expect it to increase the charge while you're playing, it pretty much uses whatever it draws. Fantastic charger though, I've just gotten back from the States using this bad boy daily.

  • Cheers OP

  • Can it power a Microsoft Surface?

    • +5

Yes. I got a USB C to surface connect cable and it works perfectly. So happy to finally get a portable charger for the surface.

  • Thanks OP

  • It should also charge a switch too.

  • Can this charge an XPS 13" 9380

Also, will most USB C cables work?

Is there any way of stuffing up the laptop or battery by using this powerbank as opposed to the Dell wall charger that comes with the laptop? Or is all electricity just the same?

    • +2

Hey, this should be sufficient for your laptop, and most USB C cables will work, given that they are rated for 45W+. In terms of damage to your laptop, as it supports the USB C PD protocol there are in-built precautions to ensure you laptop does not get damaged.

      • +1

Some still suggest you CAN damage your laptops though. I'm taking the risk on my surface.

    • +1

Cheap USB-C cables could result in USB-PD mode not working properly at times. I bought a cheap one to try before. When checked with a meter, a couple of times it was stuck at 5V, unplug and re-connect allowed it to do PD properly (15V, 20V). As expected, original cables (i.e. Apple, Google) do not have this issue.

I have this power bank and the Dell XPS 9380.

I get a battery warning error when using the power bank. it will only charge the battery while it is turned off, and it when its on, it will only supply power to the laptop.

so you cant charge the battery while using the laptop from the powerbank.

this is despite meeting the required spec and power output.

it may be the cable I am using, but it is rated as a 45w/PD cable.

    • You aren’t going to break anything, worst case it doesn’t charge.
I’ve had issues with the 15” and most banks, as soon as it drops below 45w it stops, rare 60w chargers will run longer.

  • is it better to use usbC-usbC or usbA-usbC for charging macbooks

    • +1

USB-C-USB-C as it will deliver through USB-C PD (Power Delivery)

    • +5

USB-C to USB-C because power delivery pins are not available on USB-A connectors. USB-C connectors are not just smaller, they have more than double number of pins (in order to achieve reversible connection). Power delivery pins are exclusive to USB-C connectors.

      • thank you

    Review:
    http://budgetlightforum.com/node/67033

Just like before, when both USB-A ports are being used, QC3 cannot be used (you are left with 5V 1.5A per port in that mode). However, the added USB-C/PD support is nice (though I agree with the reviewer, I don't think it is a good idea to use a powerbank to charge laptop, not yet anyway).

    • Thank you.

  • Are these safe to use with Note10 and S10E?

    • Definitely

How do these compare to the Romoss LT20PS+ 20000mAh Power Bank?

Ended up snagging the Romoss a few days ago but I have a Xiaomi fetish.

  • What's the go with these on a plane? Can I carry on with this or will it exceed the allowed limit?

    • +1

Well under the limit, no worries carrying it on the plane

    • +1

I actually checked with Rex airlines the other day. Can go on with you on carry on, but can't be used during the flight. Can't be in your checked in luggage.

  • What's the difference between this Xiaomi Mi 10000mah 2S for $25.95 before discount and this one which appears to be the same model for $21.95 before discount, both from gearbite?

    • one has a jacked up price.

    • This one does 45W USB-C PD, which means it actually stands a chance at charging laptops. The cheaper one is 18W, which should fast charge most phones and slow charge the occasional bigger device.

  • Does this support pass through charging?

  • +1

Any good deals on short USB-C to USB-C cables? (not the rubbish ones)

    • keen to know this as well. new to the usb-c scene with the new dell xps deal from OzB and jumping on this one too, thanks op!

      Now for a recommendation on a good usb-c to usb-c cable… :D

    • Anker has some lifetime warranty braided cables (supposedly tested to bend over 5000 times), although they aren't short.

I have read reviews on these and most have said they are of very good quality.

      https://www.amazon.com.au/s?k=anker+powerline+usb+c&ref=nb_s…

      Not cheap though :(

    • Highly recommended Blitzwolf cables. Absolutely great and at a good price. There are often deals on them but at normal price they are pretty affordable.

Will this work on a late 2012 Macbook Pro (A1425)?

    • No, won't work.

      • Cheers

      • Will it work on a 2014 model?

        • +3

Heres how you check. You look for a usb c port.

  • -1

How do these compare in quality to the Kogan powerbanks?

    • Will they price match?

  • Will this work on Lenovo E595?

  • This will work with surface laptop or surface pro with the J go surface connect to usb c cable

  • On the note 10+, will these allow for the new super fast charging?

  • Is this safe to use with a Galaxy s8?

  • Can it power Fujifilm X-T20?

  • Anyone else got the wrong item? I ordered 2 and they sent 2 of the 10000mAh wireless charging model.

  • Finally got around to buying one. Hope it gets sent quickly.

  • Does anyone know if you can charge the powerbank via USB-C while using it to charge devices via USB-A all at the same time??
