      Eligible Items the new sitewide

      • urbancartel the new TA

      • Hi folks! National.Garage rep here. As there's not much info on these sales, I thought I might post some clarification. Ticking the associated box for safety.

It's my understanding that for an item to be eligible, the seller needs to be invited by eBay to join the sale. There are certain criteria we have to meet to be eligible. I'm not even sure who is signed up for these sales, to be quite honest. If you folks were to start compiling a list of sellers that are, I'd assume this would form a fairly stable catalog of sellers that you can buy from. I've checked a few sellers from the last 20% sale and they seem to be part of the sale.

Hope this helps in finding items you want to buy, folks!

      • tried a few things and if my theory is correct, "Eligible Items" means they have eBay plus tag in the listing, and they"are sold by 'Australian sellers' who registered their ebay account on eBay Australia, not those which are located within Australia but are sold by 'international sellers' who registered their ebay account on other eBay sites such as China, Hong Kong, and some other Asian countries(ok that sounds racism..)". You can find out where the seller is really from by clicking on their eBay ID. Financially speaking, there is a distinctive difference between "buying from an Australian seller" and "buying an item which is LOCATED within Australia"(assuming 2 items are identical). Although most people wont sense the difference given both items will be post to them via local courier service such as eparcel. Buttom line is, just because the item is located in Australia and will be sent to you via domestic courier doesnt mean the seller is also from Australia. eBay Australia stopped letting overseas sellers sharing most discount code since last financial year, possibly due to too many complains regarding unfair competition trade environment.Imao.

        • Correct. This eligible items is good. At least stops overseas seller getting the same discount. Especially those listing says AU STOCK bla bla bla. Item location AU - but sent from china, HK etc.

          • @bbqwer: In a way it is beneficial to the buyers because they won't be charge GST at check out due to the AU location. As long as it is delivered within the advertised ETA, I am not complaining.

        • One difference I with a seller that ships from Australia but is based overseas is that if you have to return the item you typically have to return to the overseas address (which is usually not viable).

    • Not bad, at least it’s constant. ;)

  • I think your clear Bud . Another for my 20 Ebay code list :)

  • if it is anything listed, would it count items located in NZ but they are still listed in eBay AU. For some reason says that the code cant be applied to my order.

    • +2

Is it eligible? If it's eligible then it will be eligible and thus apply.

      Lol.

      • +1

I still dont get their eligibility criteria? HOw do they determine, eBay and their marketing..

      Username checks out

  • Thanks UC

  • +2

Unfortunately, does not seem to work for private or small volume sellers…

  • +1

    I'm an eligible item.

    • A cut-price eligible item?

      • Definitely high maintenance.

  • +4

What is eligible ??? tried heaps of these eligible codes and it’s not working

    • +4

exactly. what are eligible? i've tried on a few (high-volume) sellers and code isn't working.

      • +2

Same here not many items are eligible

      • +5

They figured out that by making you check each item for eligibility, you are spending more time on their site than you used to with a sitewide. This is good for traffic. Each page you open up has ads and links to other items that might interest you. They make more sales this way. It will stay this way for the foreseeable future.

        • +2

Dont know others, at least i wont spend a single sec to search what sellers are accepting this code.

Also 10% is not good enough to attract me tho. Lol

          • @pzhon: Yeah this. At least I am spending less then site wide on ebay now

            • @bobs burgers: Actually i dont think i spent a single cent since these eligible codes started on ebay.

        • +1

          use adblock

          • @timmy_tam: adblock doesn't block ebay's banners (e.g. "15% off gardening items") or previews of other item listings.

        • Yeah that seems to be their game.
I'm definitely not playing it, wish the Ozboking would protect his subjects, by banning, or relocating to a trash forum, this level of purchaser manipulation.

Even if Amazon is a little more, these days I pick Amazon for 95% of my ebay vs amazon items. Just don't feel like dealing with ebay's BS and even worse its estranged spouse, Paypal anymore.

          • +1

@Charity: I have spent less money on ebay since the 'Eligible' policy, but I have given them more of my time because I have attempted to see if there were any deals that were 'eligible' (hint: there weren't).

Hmm, I haven't had any problems with eBay. I just buy from wherever's the cheapest.

I haven't had bad experiences with PayPal either. I've used their refunded returns service quite a few times now - saved me quite a fair bit of money with overseas returns, even with non-eBay purchases. Very happy with them.

  • Another mystery date of ending..

  • Pizzapie seemed to be my most powerful code today rounding close to the optimal . OP code so far nothing

These eBay codes with confusing eligibility and/or low discount caps are starting to become more akin to annoying spam than anything useful.

  • +2

Another BLOODY eligible items, which many are not.

  • +3

I just tried this on a few things I've been looking at (from Australian sellers) and it did not work.
With no real indication as to which items this code applies to, I think a neg is justified.

    • Fair enough - I think we'd all prefer 'sitewide' or clearer communication of what warrants the selection of Eligible items…

  • Ebay needs to better define what items are eligible and which are not.

    • +1

I think they are the same items every time.

If the item (from a particular seller) you want wasn't eligible last time, it won't be this time.

I more or less depend on posts from other people here who did the leg work. I can't find anything on my watched list that is eligible. Largely that is because those items are below the minimum spend and even though I would buy multiple items to meet the minimum, none of them can be eligible if they don't meet the minimum spend on their own.

  • +3

I tried couple of item, can't find any eligible item yet.

Thanks for your effort OP, I only neg this due to eBay ridiculous marketing tactics…

    • Yeah, what is the eligibility criteria

  • -1

    another almost useless code.

  • I thought PROPER10 , but it isn't. Another waste of time.

  • September coming up soon…

  • +1

Why does this "deal" have any upvotes at all? There doesn't seem to be any deals available.

    • Better to have a arsenal of weapons that may work on items than nothing . I've ran into 1 item ( yes very rare) this code has worked .

  • expired I believe
