Is it just me, or are Lenovo Thinkpads "on sale" almost every week?

    • Reminds me of a house on my way to the train station that had a garage sale every weekend!

That house seemed to replenish their stock every week! haha

  • Gosh wish they'd offer 40% off more often :p Should've held out and not purchased the faulty T410 (which crashes with Bluetooth + Optimus graphics both on!).

If you're spending $3,600 on a laptop, you're doing something wrong.

      • I dont think you are spending 3600 if its 40% off! Ultraportable with Intel SSD, docking station, Office and 3G modem for $2000 or so!

  • I believe it's going to be sales until EOFY at least. I'm not bothered I missed the other 10 deals, because this one seems pretty decent.

  • Lenovo are copying Logitech shop now………….

I think Lenovo are trying to prevent me from getting a Dell 30" monitor (or vice versa). Last time this happened I was tossing up between laptop and monitor and got neither.

LOL. think of all the money you saved!

  • It is only a matter of time before Lenovo starts a price war with the other makers, like everything else that is Chinese owned and made.

Is the E520 with i5, discrete graphics, 4GB Ram, 7200rpm HDD, worth buying now for $602? Also is turbo boost worth an extra $50-$100? Seems to be the best cheapest i5 on the market. HN have a radio ad now about an ACER i5 for $584 or something.

The standard i5-2410m CPU already got turbo boost, they just "forgot" to include it in the spec. I believe Lenovo is a better brand than Acer. Also, ThinkPad is consider as a high quality business grade laptop that is reliable.

Yes, I think the ThinkPad E520 is a good value computer with middle-level quality.

    • I've bought two of these (one without the 1GB discrete graphics). Just finished configuring one now and pretty happy with the quality.

Only potential issue I saw was the battery was a little loose. No impact now but could be in the future.

      • Thanks for the comments on the E520. I have read some reviews regarding the loose battery however they never have caused a problem. Seems like a good price @ $602 with the standard i5 which they just so happened to forget in the specs.

    • They jacked up the price - shonky company.

      • I'm looking at the X220 and they actually dropped the base price on it so that in order to get into a higher discount bracket I have to add some useless microsoft software so that the final price is lower than before. Alternatively I can get a piece of useless hardware for the same effect.

        Sweet loving discount madness! :)

    • I got one at ~$650 and I'm very happy with it. HN's i5 probably isn't sandy bridge and recent discrete graphics are also unlikely.

      • Went to HN tonight at Auburn - complete waste of time! Nothing anywhere near the price of the e520 with the specs. Spoke to a sales guy who said lenovo were really unreliable and hp & toshiba (which he had for sale) were much better. LOL! toshiba maybe, hp nope! Any other lenovo's to recommend?

        • Lenovo: Simple look, nothing fancy
          Asus/Samsung: Sits in the middle
HP: Seem to add fancy artwork and perhaps some chrome

TBH: The only real difference is the keyboard/design (case). I haven't had too many issues with lenovo (we have roughly 400 or so L410/412 where I work, and an additional bunch of Mini's and old R61s only problem I've seen are keyboard keys coming off (due to users being idiots) and the odd mobo failure 1 so far.
