$39 is basically the standard price. They only jack the price up when they've virtually run out of stock, so the red switch offer is a bit rubbish.

I'm not saying this isn't worth posting, but maybe tone down the hype a bit to reflect that this is a regular offer.

It's always end of every month. Still a good deal for people wanting a budget mech keyboard, I missed the last month deal and got 2 for the price of 1 :)

Honestly, I'd be taking a look at the 60% keyboards with optical switches that are on Chinese-based sites and eBay. $50-$60 for Gateron switches that are basically spill proof.

Not great for data entry, but basic typing and gaming, they go well.

        • Do you have a recommendation?

@gunslinger: There's pretty much two or three products being sold by a bunch of vendors.

Just pick if you want a red or blue switch, and a black or white keyboard. All ABS plastic too, I think.

Epathbuy offer a slightly classier version, but it's a big jump in price.

got one last time around. been fine but 8 weeks later….

Keyboard leg snapped - not mistreated
    Capslock light no longer working.

i can live with both of these things for the price….

mine has been fine for months now. quality control issues are to be expected with all kogan stuff I would think.

I've had the blue switch one about a year. A couple of the lights have stopped working, and one of the stand legs snapped but that's because my cat pushed it off the desk. Other than that, still going strong! Paid $35 for it. Well worth it.

  • Do these have per-key LED settings?

    • Yeah, it comes with software that allows you to change each individual key's light.

  • So looking at picking up my first gaming keyboard and wow, I didn't know half this stuff existed (Brown/Red/Blue Outemo keys etc) Talk about confused!

    • i'd recommend going brown keys unless you are sure you know what you want. People say blues are for work and reds are for gaming but there are plenty of people doing it the other way around. You almost always end up getting one of each anyways. Just wait until you discover key caps…

      • Which one makes the most satisfying clacky noise?

The more it sounds like a machine gun, the better.

        • Blue

          • @VeryCheap: yes blue is satisfying when typing but when I go from my blues to my romer-g switches (similar to red??) i really appreciate the quietness of the board vs clicky blues.

Thanks for the advice @mit (and others) decided to go with Brown as seems the better starting point. Probably would have been fine with any of them to be honest coming from a complete novice with this stuff.

        Much appreciated folks!

  • I've got the blue switch kogan board and for $39 it's impressive. actually it's flawless for $39. great board.

  • Got brown switch, thanks OP!

  • Just got mine delivered. Shockingly fast actually, I've never had Express Post arrive from Melbourne to Perth the day after it's sent, normally takes 2 days minimum.

Had a bit of a play around with it and wow the thing has some weight to it. Definitely liking it so far. Anyone more in the know than I - some games apparently can take control of your keyboards lighting (Apex specifically) anyway to get that to happen on the Kogan one? Or even maybe load some profiles designed for specific games or is the only way customising the profiles yourself?

    Cheers

    • I cheaped out and went with the cheap shipping :P mines arriving today

      • haha I normally do the same but lately Australia Post has been excruciating for anything sent to Perth (at least my suburb) from Eastern States. Express is still normally 2-3 days at best, still shocked it arrived less than 24 hours after I ordered it! Though in typical Aus Post fashion, there are actually 2 more things in the order that aren't here yet.
