Over the last couple of weeks I have been hunting for a brand new 4K TV and have been enticed by the various TV's that were on sale. Some of them were the 43 inch Samsung RU7100 and the LG 43" 43UM7600PTA and the Panasonic one.

I went to The Good Guys and decided to buy the one I posted here because it was 50 inches for less than the price of either of those 43 inch ones. As far as I know there are 2 left at The Good Guys Dandenong.

The 43 inch variant of this TV is $695.

This TV's UI is kind of slow, but the picture quality is on par with the ones listed above, in my opinion. Might require some tweaking but I'm very satisfied with it when paired with my Xbox One.

Met a lady who purchase the TV in in-store, and she told me the lowest the in-store person was willing to go was $675. She thought she got a steal and dropped her jaw when I told her the price I bought it at.

    Very tempted, my 2012 3D Toshiba tv is starting to play up when turned on. I don't know whether to pull the trigger on this or await the inevitable death of the my current one…

      I would suggest just going into the store to see if you like it. And putting the order through on ebay if you want to buy it.

      For me the difference in screen size was convincing enough for me to buy this one. But if picture quality is your thing then I suggest getting the samsung one.

        Yes works great with ps4 and very immersive watching 3D movies. Had it nearly 8 years so certainly got value from it.

      40 inches is 1080p. 43 is the minimum and its the same price as this one. In fact this might be lower if you're using c&c

        Cheers mate. I need a tv for a little nook area. Can only fit just over a meter wide. Seems perfect for a 40, up to 43 inch tv.

    Thanks Op. Picked one up this afternoon and am very happy about it after the initial set up and netflixing. Was looking for a 43" and was worried about 50" too big for the bedroom but it turned out to be just the right size.

        $690 at the time. Proper 4K with 10bit not this 8bit+FRC which just ain't. Probably no wide colour gamut on this TCL either. Anyways for true HDR it's a load of bollocks.

        But for those wanting a fair size TV on the cheap that does 4K, can't go wrong with the TCL.

          well right now you can probably only get the 43 inch with proper hdr like the ones I listed above. I think this one are for the guys who don't really care that much about 10 bit stuff. even the x70f is about 690 on sale.

          The difference in screen size and the price to pay for features that I don't think I will use didn't justify the additional 150 for me

            @Ghosteye: The funny thing is that the Samsung and LG and Sony are actually worse than their predecessors. Samsung doesn't have wide colour gamut for one I know that. Strange that they seem to regress on the specs over the years.

            Like you said for those not picky then the TCL is just fine.
