    • Thanks, it's done

  • I checked my light and it doesn't have a neutral wire, the house was built ages ago, I'm so sad :(

    • Umm… I'm not an electrician, but doesn't all AC power in the house have three? Ie Active, Neutral, and Earth. Maybe an older house has two, Active and Neutral? Not having a go, genuinely curious? What makes you think you don't have a neutral wire? Or are some really old houses just one wire? Never seen that.

      • I'm guessing he means no neutral at the switch. They either do loop at the light or loop at the switch. So he would only have the switch wires at his switch plate.

      • (I am not an electician …) But two ways that light switches can be wired. Comes down to electicians preference/age of house. Both methods are ok.

      • @UFO @Wheels08 @FrontBottom Yes, like Wheels and Front Bottom have said, the loop has been made at the light's not the switch.

    • Old house dont have neutral wire, but new houses its standard to have neutral wire at all points.

      • Peculiar statement- so nothing should work in old houses then or is earth wire used as return wire ?

  • -2

you mean earth? all circuits must have active and neutral, not all switches have earth…

    • Old circuits don't necessarily have neutral or earth on light switches. They may just have active and switched active on switches.

  • +1

I reckon OP has confused everyone here… all houses have neurtal however EARTH wire would be different for each point.
Most new houses even don't have earth at every point !

    • No, you're confused. As repeated by many comments, lots of older houses ONLY have active wire at the switch (no neutral or earth wires). Which is a loop down and back up from the light fixing. The light fixing has both active and neutral but switch does not. My house is like this as it was built in the 60's.

  • Sorry guys, I meant the switch needs neutral wire

  • do you guys work with google home/alexa? if so what name do i search for?

  • Hi Op, I got this dimmer. 4 9w downlight in the bedroom. In 100% the lights flickers frequently. Any solution for this? Works fine if I change to 90% or lower

    • Thanks for being our customer. Normally flicking happens when the light got dimmed but we haven't heard from any customers about flicking at 100%. We will need to check with our manufacturer and get back to you. In the meantime can you please send us an email from our website to specific the issue? One question I would like to ask is does the flicking happen at any particular time or anytime? Thanks

      • Not any particular time. Randomly. Only flickers at 100%. Rarely it flickers at dimming as well.

        • Flicking randomly? It's might be because of power supply I think . If it flickers all the time at 100% means the dimmer doesn't match with your light.

          • @Ctec Sales: so my 2 dimmer switch got faulty power supply?

            • @duke007: Sorry I meant something similar to offpeak ripple, not the power supply of dimmers but power supply to your house. If it's random, how long does the flicking last or it lasts continuously? And does it happen both during the day and evening? Thanks

  • I have installed these switches and are pretty happy with them. With 2 way switching (without the wiring), I don't think you can control a single gang switch with a 3 way, but you can the other way around which I found a bit strange.
My dimmer switch does make the LED lighting flicker when below 100% but I suspect that's the LEDs rather than the dimmer.

The app is horrendous though, room for improvement there.

    • Many thanks for being our customer. If you use Google Home/Alexa models then there is a way to achieve 2/3 switching with more flexible combination which is called Mutual Control and can be found in the APP, you can mutual control whatever you want to. If you use regular WiFi models then the 2/3 way switches are pre-set prior to being sold with less flexibility but still they work pretty well.
We are going to have a huge change to the Google Home/Alexa compatible app in next few days and the user interface will be totally different. What this space. Thank you
