  • At this price even tp hs110 looks like a good deal.

    • Yeh, he’s right, it really does. Try again man.

      • The TP hs110 does not have HomeKit. Try again man.

        • Just setup a homebridge VM - job done!

          • @pavlos: I've got hassio running on a raspberry pi. It works ok with the hs110 but it adds another level of unnecessary complexity to the setup.

            • @automated: How does it add complexity when it is no different to any other basic smart device? Aside from the earlier problems with different firmware and the usage values not having the correct values.

              • @Major Mess: How does running a raspberry pi with hassio not add complexity? Compared to hardware that runs HomeKit natively its much harder and has more chance of failing. For example I use hassio to add HomeKit compatibility to older lifx bulbs, if for some reason hassio stops working then those bulbs stop working with HomeKit.

        • Bam!

$69 for 4. Not the same but arguably better:

    • How is this the same for those interested and part of apple ecosystem?
Is the product your comparing is HomeKit compatible?

Ah! Apple tax. That explains the price. Thanks :)

        • I don't know that the certification costs of HomeKit explain the prices.

I think this is more the Eve tax…

      • Look in to homebridge - works perfectly with the TPlink ones

    • Can anyone comment on the data metrics shown in this kogan one compared to the TP-Link HS110?

These are great looks like the best value but if they have less energy monitoring statistics and graphs than the TP-Link HS110 then might be worth paying more for more energy usage metrics in the long run.

  • Rated at only 8 amps, 1,840 watts and not full 10 amps at 230/240 volts as per Australian standard, so may not suitable for all heating and kitchen appliances (espresso machines) that draw over 8 amps.

    • Does that mean it shouldn't be sold in Australia, or is this just a "this is the recommended current, but no big deal if you don't" sort of thing?

  • Wow this is expensive. One offs for under $30 that are compatible with Alexa and Google etc, are all over the place. You can get for packs for $70 to $80. eg Kogan's Tuya unit. From memory there is a 2 pack on Amazon recently for $30.

  • So you know how much power is being consumed for $60, then what? Just save $60 to pay your next power bill is a better option.
