First post so take it easy.

Been looking for a 49" monitor with good resolution and found this on the HN website. Full RRP price on pre order, but you get the bundle which is over $700 worth of goodies. There are some for a couple of hundred cheaper, but the bundle makes the deal better.

Enjoy.

Supports a peak brightness rating of 1000 nits, delivering bright and vibrant colours
AMD Radeon FreeSync 2 HDR Technology and a 120Hz refresh rate help reduce stutter and screen tearing for smooth flowing scenes

At these prices I can't fathom why they are more expensive than a 55" QLED tv.

I used to think the same thing too until finding out TVs typically have more input lag than monitors albeit just by ~5-20ms. If you game online, it might make a difference between fragging and being fragged.

Refresh rate is also another factor. The TV you've linked has Freesync Variable Refresh Rate (honestly no idea what range it refreshes at) vs the 120Hz refresh rate in this 49 inch monitor.

Is it worth the price difference for a casual gamer? Probably not, but I think that's why monitors cost more.

Was aware of those factors, I just can't fathom the price haha I get that it's meant to be the best of the best, but certainly it is not an additional cost to this degree.

        • Niche item, so youre paying mainly for the small run design and tooling. Also no competition lets them pick whatever prices they like

    • Might also be that many more people are buying 55" 4k tvs than these monitors, and therefore have the benefit of volume. The monitor is also 120Hz whereas the tv is not. I agree though the price is very high :(

Cheaper here at MegaBuy $2,347.43 + postage of $42.95 (for me) comes to $2,390.38

PC Case Gear $2499 + postage of $58 (for me) by Star Track comes to $2557

Centrecom $2399 + $96.72 for postage (to me) by Fast Track comes to $2495.72

Sorry op, nothing against you but negging the deal as cheaper elsewhere.

Btw congrats on getting the courage to post your first deal! :)

None of these come with the $700 in accessories

      • You're right, just saw it on HN website.
Is this a Samsung pre order bonus or HN?

        • +1

only listed on harvey norman from what i have seen

          • +3

@Gristy: Your right, I just chatted to a Samsung rep and the pre order bonus is only from HN.
As op's deal comes with pre order accessories and the cheaper ones I listed don't I'll remove the down vote :).

      congrats on discouraging him though.

How so? There's nothing aggressive or mean in my comment.

I've removed my neg as OP's deal comes with pre order Logitech accessories that's exclusive to HN, thus making it a different deal.

    • PCCG and Centrecom should be fine, but Megabuy, potential buyer better check again! Plenty of reports regarding Megabuy on WP. I thought they've closed down.

  • Is there even a graphics card that can drive that screen on new games at 120fps? Would a 2080Ti do it?

    • +5

      It's less pixels than a 3840x2160 screen.

      • and even 2080ti's can't handle 4k at 60fps all the time. so OP's comment still somewhat stands

Not even a bargain compare to other stores.
This is Samsung bonus, I was told by sale reps. Not sure who to believe.

what do you get in this ultimate gaming bundle?

  • That's the monitor I've been looking for, just need to wait until it's released to see the reviews and for the price to drop below 1.5k

  • +2

Thanks, bought 3 and installed on my desk
Now I cannot find my way to walk out of my seat

  • It's interesting how Samsung managed to round 1440 to 2k

  • If history is anything to go by, the CHG90 (3840 x 1080) launched at similar price points ($2500 IIRC) but dropped to circa $1600-1800 mark pretty quickly with various cashback/deaks (eg AMEX offer) before stabilising circa $1400-1500. With that in mind, I'd hold off unless you want the gaming bundle too.
