Cheapest ever price as far as I’m aware. Specifically for FPS gaming, and should be the cheapest 25” 240hz monitor around. Note this is the non-Gsync version.

im really tempted to buy this, 1080p and tn panel kinda kills it but its a gaming monitor so it doesnt need to be anything else than that.

    • There's 1080p 240Hz IPS in the pipeline this year (or very early next), as well as 1440p240Hz TN (2 weeks). 1440p 240Hz IPS would be next year.

IPS will always have 4ms time though right?

        • No, that should slowly get lower and lower, at least to a point.

I think peak GtG comes in at 2.5-3 ms now with a sensible level of overdrive? And that's on current 144Hz models. If these kinds of panels can get down to slower values being 5-6 ms, that's going to be passable for people who prefer IPS for high refresh rate gaming.

Personally I'm happy with TN for the motion benefits, so long as it's at least true 8-bit, at least until microLED is here and affordable.

          • @jasswolf: I’m thinking this would be a good stopgap until the next lot of panels come out and become more affordable. I’m hoping for a 1440p 240hz 27.

@jc8: Yeah the only announced model for that is priced at US $999, though it'll likely be initially sold at a price much closer to $850 (the monitor/TV market always start with stupidly high MSRPs).

That's reasonably competitive against 4k 144hz monitors, but still too rich for my blood, especially when US $350 seems to be the sweet spot for 1440p 144hz.

        • LG is releasing a 1ms IPS this year… at some point. 1440p, 144hz, Freesync, all that good stuff.

          • @Azmunga: Also AOC 0.5ms 240Hz

          • +1

@Azmunga: I've seen the early data on that one: it's 1 ms peak GtG, when using an overdrive that utterly sucks in terms of overshoot.

On the normal kind of overdrive you typically see on monitors, I believe the peak figure was more like 2.8ms. It's definitely going to be a great monitor, but it's still only just passable for full 144hz motion.

Is this enough for red tube?

    • Need a couple more inches for that

      I wonder if 240fps porn exists…

      • +4

If it did, I doubt it would be G-Sync compatible.

I see you r a man of culture as well

  • I'm very tempted to buy this. Currently I have 1 1440p 165hz 27inch GSync, 1 144hz 24 inch and a normal 60 23 inch monitor. can someone please give me a reason not to buy this one?

6-bit + FRC colour, instead of today's 8-bit, 8-bit + FRC and 10-bit options. It's likely that the Dell refresh coming has 8-bit colour or more.

    @dailysupport - Because 240fps porn doesn’t exist yet.
