Works for everything but US Netflix, u need to sign up on their standard offers to get US Netflix. But the lifetime sub works great for Hulu, amazon, hbo, cbs, nbc, bbc iplayer etc

  • +3

You may want to mention that this is useless here in Australia as per Getflix statement " It is currently not available in any other countries, even when using Getflix.".

Or is it? Confusing statement. I'm sure Getflix no longer works for Neflix??

    • +3

Getflix works for Netflix, but NOT for those on a Lifetime Subscription with the exception of US Netflix in a Web Browser.

  • +33

Bought this years ago, my advice is don't do it.
Unfortunately they don't treat the lifetime subs the same a monthly paying customers.
You get locked in to a crap server that never works and you and they lock you out of changing to any other server.

    Waste of money.

    • Thanks for the heads up!

      • +4

        +1 would not recommend.

    • +1

Other than the US Netflix thing I've been perfectly happy with the service and had it for the last three years. Support is responsive as well.

Considering how much stuff is coming out atm (I subscribe to Netflix, Hulu and Amazon and will be getting Disney+), I don't really have the time to watch what ever I'm missing out on via the US Netflix. Besides AU Netflix has Star Trek, Riverdale, Black Lightning and a few other shows not available in the US.

      • +1

I'm with you - I bought a lifetime plan ages ago (whenever the last deal was…) and have been using them successfully with Netflix/Hulu/HBO etc… The VPN service is handy and use it time to time to listen to Pandora when out on the road.

      • Do you have to have Amazon US Prime in order to watch US one via GetFlix?

        • +1

          Yes

        • No, I use my Australian prime, through a browser. Works a treat.

    • +4

      yep its useless
i cant even remember the last time ive used my Getflix account
waste of money. All u get is a lifetime of losing ur money u put in for this crap
      Geflix can Getf'd

Note: Netflix is currently available to users in North and South America, the Caribbean, United Kingdom, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, The Netherlands and Finland. It is currently not available in any other countries, even when using Getflix.

So you can't use it to watch Netflix?

    • +2

couple of years ago was good but now useless.. Don't waste money.

    • I used to do monthly Getflix and Netflix US stopped working, gave up after months of issues and stopped my sub. This was a few years ago.

      • US Netflix works for my direct sub, not on the lifetime Sub though

    • The lifetime subs don’t get US Netflix only the direct subs do

      • I think the issue is that life time getflix subscriptions USED to get US Netflix, but getflix changed the rules retrospectively, and stopped lifetime users getting US Netflix after the fact.

This disappointed many lifetime subscribers who had subscribed on the basis that they DID get US Netflix.

        • Yes I completely agree. I purchased a lifetime subscription many years ago. At the time the expectation, T&C etc were all that you were purchasing a lifetime subscription of the full GetFlix service. After Netflix started cracking down on VPN's and DNS's they retrospectively changed the rules. Now I understand why, I understand there is significant cost and effort involved in circumventing Netflix geoblocking nowadays and to be honest I wasn't too annoyed when they changed things as I thought the lifetime subscription model was financially stupid. Besides I still use the service for Prime, Hulu, VUDU, FandangoNow, Pandora etc.

However, I must admit to being a little annoyed now that I see they are continuing to offer "lifetime" subscriptions and a two tier service, without being extremely clear about the differences. It would be better if they advertised it as a Getflix Basic package; and a premium package or similar.

  • I need more information on this service, not just the blurb from the website.

    • How does this work compared to VPN's like Nord and Express (which both work well for me).
    • What are the speeds like?
    • Is it just mentioning that it can do split tunneling which both the previous VPN subscriptions I have used can do as well or is it using something else to handle the traffic.
    • Has OP used this service?
    • I've been using it for about 3-4 years and been happy with it. The service has changed where only montly subs can access US Netflix but with the amount of stuff being pumped out these days and the AU netflix having alot of content from other US providers, I'm happy to stay on AU netflix. I use it to access Hulu, other US services (like catch up services) and BBC iPlayer.

This isn't a VPN, although they do offer one but I've never used it. It's a SmartDNS service. That is, it makes the streaming service think you're from the country they want you to be from but that's it, there's no tunnelling. You directly connect to the service and use your full bandwidth.

      • Excellent and thank you, what is this like for ease of use with Smart TV's or… the Nintendo Switch lol (thinking Hulu app).

Is it an app that gets installed (perhaps can sideload it to my Nvidia Shield TV) or do I set it up on my router?

        • +1

I just installed the DNS servers straight into my router settings and it works across the board for Hulu. But you can set it up on the individual devices if you'd prefer.

That's all you need to do, manually type in the DNS server numbers and it's set up (and then log into the Getflix site so it connects your IP to your account and lets you in). You'll need to log in everytime your IP is renewed. I just have a bookmark in my browser to the direct page. Click the button, wait 10 seconds and it's good to go.

          • @SirFlibbled: Great information thanks.

            • +1

@hey aj: As SirFlibbed said, it is very easy to use the DNS routing with your router. Takes a few minutes to set up if you know what you are doing. Works extremely well for Prime, Hulu, Pandora, VUDU, FandangoNow, Crackle etc. The two services it doesn't work with are Netflix and Roku Channel.

  • Netflix won't be around for 30 years..

    • +6

Well, it's been around for 22 years now so I think that's a fairly meaningless prediction.

      • +1

And how many of that was slinging DVDs through the post?

        • +4

So what you're saying is they changed their business model to suit their contemporary environment and survived?

    • Lol, only if the get bought out by Apple.

    • My prediction (for how little it's worth) is that Netflix will be one of the survivors of the upcoming consolidations in streaming services. As a bunch of these new services are being run by the studios, some/many/most will fail and they'll get out and sign distribution deals with the non-studio aligned services - ie Netflix.

In the end, you'll end up with Netflix, Disney+/Hulu and probably a couple more.

Why would studios get out if they own the content you ask? Something similar happened in the 1990's in comics. Marvel bought 'Heroes World' as a distributor and went exclusive with them. If a comic shop wanted to buy Marvel comics, they had to buy through Heroes World. DC Comics went exclusive with Diamond Comics. Heroes World ended going tits up (even with the smaller competition than streaming is presenting) and Marvel ended up being distributed through Diamond. Completely different circumstances and industry but there's parallels there.

  • +5

    It's a negative from me.

If you are signing up for access to Netflix US you will be disappointed. It doesn't work.

    • -2

Actually does work for US Netflix in a PC Web Browser.
Perfect if you have a HTPC, or are happy to hook up a laptop to your TV.

  • +4

AVOID. Bought the last lifetime license only to find out that you then need to pay for the full version of it for it to actually work with Netflix. After contacting getflix we were told the promo license we purchased wasn't entitled to their premium service and the lifetime license was almost like a 'best effort'. So if you want it for Netflix, then getflix is a scam IMHO with this promo.

  • +3

dont waste you money here.. as said above its very limited on how you can get it working and even when it does it doesnt do it well.
was good yrs ago but no longer..

  • +1

I have Getflix and can't fault it. But I don't use it for Netflix. It's great for Amazon, HBO, BBC, Zattoo, … and not to forget the very usable VPN with lots of servers worldwide.
Most of the comments pick only the Netflix service which is indeed now useless … but see the whole thing.

  • +1

Same as lots of others got this few years back it's useless they rope you in then change the terms.

  • +2

    Avoid.

  • Can anyone recommend the best service to get US netflix?

    • I use Cyberghost and it works brilliantly with my Nvidea Shield. I use it extensively with my PC, Laptop, phone etc. Simple app to use or if you want to get really involved you can purchase a residential IP address in the US for an additional fee. I find the options and reliability brilliant.

    • Windscribe seems to work well, despite sometimes slowing down before speeding up again.

  • Which VPN or proxy service works for watching Japan Netflix?

    • +1

      I recommend NordVPN

    • +3

windscribe for UK, USA, Japan & Canada

    • +1

I can confirm Express VPN works for US,UK,Canada,India, Japan, French , Germany, Netherland, Hong Kong

  • i'm probably in the minority but i'm on the lifetime sub from a few years back and I've got it working for US Netflix plus other things like Hulu, CW etc.
This is on all the relevant platforms i use at home i.e. xbox one, VodaTV, tablet/phone, and not just the PC browser as they state on the site.

it stops working every few months or so for a couple of days on the various services but then it comes right. Never more than one service at a time though.

    • What DNS are you connecting to?

      • SYD 1 and 2

        • Hmmm, I'm on Melbourne as my Primary.
I've only tried recently on my Fire Stick, but no luck on that.

          • @ESEMCE: actually, i've just had issues casting RugbyPass to VodaTV this weekend, but it works fine on chromecast. weird

  • I used their US netflix DNS & VPN service for a few years. I wouldn't recommend.

The VPN was ok up until this year when it kept randomly disconnecting and getting terrible performance. Contacted support and they just kept asking me to try different ports, when I'm pretty confident it was a server side issue. Ended up cancelling and getting PIA without issue.

  • PIA do netflix?

    • I doubt it. Their ip's get blocked pretty quickly by the providers.

  • +1

    poor support, junk app, just.dont.do.it

  • I currently use Getflix (lifetime purchased Nov 2015) to watch BBC, ITV, and Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk. I don't have a current Netflix sub but was watching Netflix USA until I cancelled Netflix back in January.

  • +2

This is bordering on a con. Don't do it.

  • This is tempting. I've got Windscribe to access US Netflix which is on my permanent mainstay. But I cannot access US Prime, etc. with it and I want to access the rest. Should I get Getflix then alongside Windscribe or is there a better alternative?

    • Yes that's exactly my setup.

  • For anybody that has the lifetime sub and using it for Amazon Prime Video, is the content that much different/better then using it locally? Need to try and figure out how to get it working on an Android TV box if it is worth it.

    • Yes, I actually have a watchlist on Amazon US. I use an old PC to access overseas media so can't comment using Android TV. Check out https://www.justwatch.com/.

      • Thank you. Just tried via the Getflix app on my phone and was seeing the same movies/TV shows but will try on a desktop. Hoping I can put my subscription to some use.

  • I emailed Getflix to ask whether Aussie subs can access Netflix US and they say yes but it's limited to PCs not other devices.

https://postimg.cc/3kkCFMQN to see what dashboard looks like for Netflix and Amazon.

  • +2

Lifetime sub originally included Netflix so many bought it only for them to change the rules and screw over the lifetime customers. Whoever is saying the VPN is good must be really happy with low speed laggy often unavailable servers, I've tried them often at router level and are laughably bad. Avoid this trash company and subscribe to a quality VPN who supports Netflix and has many fast worldwide servers for your other requirements.

  • +2

    Scammer. Stay away!

  • +1

Can confirm, the lifetime deal is garbage that does not work. I bought it for Netflix Japan and that stopped working within months of signing up. Spend your money elsewhere.

  • A few years ago we used this for US Netflix but as Netflix started clamping down on such services we gave up on getflix. For the past 6 months we’ve been using it again for Hulu and it’s been pretty faultless for that service.

  • WARNING! Getflix does not honour lifetime subscriptions. I've had one for years and two years in they said I needed to start paying again.
    DO NOT BUY

  • I love Getflix for Amazon Prime and Pandora plus the occasional something else (e.g. BBC). If you're not getting it for Netflix it's a good service IMO.
