The description doesn't state diameter but states "5m (~22g)". 1.75mm PLA filament is 3.33g/m (16.7g/5m) and 3mm is 9g/m (45g/5m). It'd make sense for Cocoon to sell 1.75mm because it suits their printers. Maybe their 22g includes packaging? Anyway, that puts the price of this sample 5m around 40c.
Not even $30, only around $20 for standard and <$25 for PLA+ on eBay.
I once found some Aldi/Cocoon 1kg PLA spools on clearance for $15 - I thought that was a much better deal.
Hobbyking have it ~$20/kg and greater variety of colors/materials (PLA/ABS) and you get shipping free if you spend $50USD
When did you find that???
Might have been 1-2years ago? Aldi often discount products that dont sell well for clearance. This varies from location to location.
A 1kg spool of PLA is about 110m long and costs about $30. 5 metres of PLA is worth about $1.35 and is too short to do anything very useful with. You'd need a lot of them to make the shipping charge worthwhile if picking up the samples isn't convenient.
