Splash, water and dust resistance are not permanent conditions, and resistance might decrease as a result of normal wear. Do not attempt to charge a wet iPhone; refer to the user guide for cleaning and drying instructions. Liquid damage is not covered under warranty.

in 8 weeks this will be a few generations old and it's almost $1000 on special… man i respect the iOS preference but it doesn't feel right…

    • +3

Yeah, I'm just trying to save people from paying the $979 Apple want. :+)

      • +2

I appreciate you making the effort.

    • +4

Agree. I was on Apple for alkoat 10 years.

I bought an iPhone XS, couldn't live without touch ID. Then bought iPhone 8, then felt like a caveman seeing other phones with full screen.

Then I bought my s10 512gb(and dual sim) for $950 (EPP price. N9rnal price is about $1100+ I think). OMFG. My world changed!

      • +4

did you buy two of them?

      • is that the 5g or just normal s10?

        • Normal S10. 5g wasn't launched then, but I wouldnt have bought it anyway because it's too big.

          • +1

@jecec: I'm genuinely curious…how did your world changed?

            • +3

@slowFTL: It's a figure of speech. But literally, I was stuck in an apple world and was always sceptical of samsung and Android. However, the S10 disproved all of my assumptions. Usability was as smooth. Everything is very snappy, my phone felt like "my phone" I.e. I'm free to change the overall look and feel, change many preferences and configuration, etc.

Most importantly, I can ditch carrying 2 phones as my S10 is dual sim- One for work and one for personal.

All these for half the price of what I'll have to pay for an equivalent iPhone (and still have to carry 2 phones).

I loved apple. I really did. I don't hate it in anyway and I can understand why people love them. But right now, my perspectives have been opened and changed, and thats how my world has been changed.

My golly gosh, that is a lot of money for an old phone.

  • +2

Who brought me here, back to 2017? Time travel is real. Now I need to find my way back to 2019.

    • +1

If you get a call back in time. is it reverse charges, so you make money… lol

  • +3

You would think the One Plus 7 Pro for the same money just wipes the floor with this.

  • +3

This phone is so ugly with the lowest screen to body ratio in 2019

    • +2

That’s what I like about it, can hold it without fingers covering screen.

      • That's interesting. Now I know why they make bigger than needed phone covers.

  • +11

Release price was $1079. Not really a substantial saving for a phone almost 2 years old.

    • +1

but teens and washed up moms on pension will buy them

      • Not sure teens will

  • +3

How is this even a deal.

    • +2

Because it is less than Apple Retail…

    • This is similar to the single Google WiFi point for $149 deal posted today.

  • 5% price beat Officeworks

  • +4

apple complains about lower sales and still refuse to cut price on older models, not even by 10%. watever they want lol.

    • Why cut prices of old phones by 10% when you can increase the cost of new phones by 30%, and make the rrp of the old phone look discounted compared to the current phone?

That's a trillion dollarinìgläbs idea there.

… Wtf? Dollarinìgläbs? My swipe keyboard is high

  • +3

Fits nicely into the $1080 tax bonus… that's who they're targeting

  • $1000 for a two year old phone? Hahahahaha.

    • +1

I resent having to buy a "new" iPhone a Cake and 2 Candles.

  • +1

On the plus side, Apple support their phones for up to 5 years after their release year.

    • Yeah, thats kinda true. At a price that's 1.5x the price of an equivalent phone.

      • +1

1.5x is generous. You can get better specced phones for less than half this price.

  • +1

One thing they never mentioned is that the screen might be tough, but it scratches like a mofo. Compared to my iPhone 6 which never scratched you need a screen protector on this one.. sadly I found out too late. Of course if you crack phones like it’s going out of style that might be a good trade off.
