        • Exactly, only have to refuse the offer of toy. Not like people are forced to take them.

“We’re passionate about the circular economy, and have established a partnership with TerraCycle to turn any pre-loved Ooshies into plastic pellets. The pellets will be used to make outdoor products such as garden beds, decks, fences and benches.

“So if a customer receives a Lion King Ooshie and changes their mind or no longer wants it, they simply need to drop the Ooshie back to their local Woolworths store and we will send it to TerraCycle for recycling. The bag the Ooshies come in is also made of FSC material and can be recycled via kerbside yellow bins.”

    • That's mostly bullshit. Typically, we keep these things in store long enough that any promotion or rewards associated with them expire, then are either dumped in the bin, or given away in bulk to randoms, or children that attend some stupid field trip.

The sad truth is that there is rarely such a huge amount remaining that it becomes financially impractical to pick them up.

Good example is those Disney tiles - which you may as well ask for now, plenty of stores probably have a box about to be disposed be of now that everything winnable has expired.

Junk that you get for free with your usual supermarket spend is not a bargain. This is for the forums.

    • Not Junk according to data showing Coles mini shop 1 record sales last round . You neg guys are in the minority and really need to get a life . Whilst we are already enjoying ours :)

      • +2

The irony of someone who enjoys collecting supermarket minis telling others to get a life is delicious.

Just because sales went up doesn’t take away from it being collectable junk. It simply highlights the number of sad individuals playing into the hands of the supermarket giants.

        • +4

Mate what's the big deal. I know for a fact my kids will love collecting these. It's a free toy! What child doesn't want this and what parent doesn't want to see the happiness from their child opening and enjoying it. I read that these can be recycled in-store if you're that concerned about the environment. If you're not interested, just say no thanks and try to enjoy your life like the rest of us…

          • @PR0r: ‘Mate’ reading is clearly not your strong suit. I never once mentioned or alluded to my issue being plastic/environment so not sure where that came from? It is a toy kids will enjoy but that doesn’t negate from anything I said. And because I don’t get all giddy over a gimmick concept that simpletons like yourself do, apparently that means I don’t enjoy life? Right. Keep clutching champ. If you get enjoyment from collecting this junk then I guarantee you it’s not my life that you need to be worrying about.

            • @[Deactivated]: Junk in your opinion, can't use the word to describe it as fact, as it's clearly not worthless.

Just on the life part, lighten up man, lol, not something to lose your ooshies over 😀

Where are the Hyenas? what a joke

  • +5

Not a fan anymore since i found out many things from the lion king were ripped off from a Japanese film called Kimba the White Lion and weren't given any credit for it and completely denied it, shameful.

    • Kimba "the white lion" was a cartoon serial going back to the 60s I believe.

  • Point was you anti plastic # 's are the minority . We all now have inconvenience because of this Green sheet . Most enjoy the plastic crap as shown in sales :) Never seen any of you neg guys on Lego threads . That good keep out of the fun stuff .

    • +3

except Lego lasts a lifetime, & can be handed down to your kids for years. plus lego is actually useful & not cheap throwaway trash.

  • +2

this post is going to cause an UPROAR.

  • Hopefully a good gift card deal comes up and I can score a few full sets . Don't worry they are worth too much to toss out Greenies . That why your negs on this is going to far . You just don't think . I'm aware of a little collateral damage of the sealed plastic bag they come in but it well worth it for the joy the kids are going to get :)

    • Uh yeah, don’t lump all the negs together. My neg wasn’t because they’re plastic. They could be made of 100% recycled materials and I’d still be negging it. My neg is because it’s junk that you get for free regardless when you shop at Woolworths during its release window. It’s like posting a Happy Meal from Maccas as a bargain because it comes with a ‘free’ lion king toy.

Caveat being it’s not actually free, suckers like you deliberately spend more than you usually would to try and collect the full set. But hey, you do you. If you end up selling a set to an even bigger sucker then kudos to you. In my opinion it’s an announcement and not a bargain, and is more suited for the forums.

Plenty of free deals everywhere here. Are you new?

        • -1

Thank you for again proving that you have very selective reading.

          • @[Deactivated]: Read the Voting Guidelines please if you have good reading skills. Apparently concerns about environment could be issues with retailer? "Should have been posted in forums" is listed as an inappropriate use of negative vote.

    • Can you reply properly instead of posting new comment? Jeez

    Oosh

  • +1

100 Furry Simbas can’t wait for that to hit eBay.

Also if you want them they can be handed back and recycled back into plastic pellets to be reused.

  • +2

They only want us to spend our money. I am not spending mine just to get these. I know many people in my work place who spend a lot just to get these low value toys, ignoring the fact that this is exactly what these commercial businesses wants. Please only collect these to give away to the kids, if you are going to spend the money anyway. That would be awesome!

    • +4

Low value? Those coles little shop things subsidized my shopping for a few weeks when I sold them on eBay.

      • +1

OK you got me on that one. +1 from me.

  • +5

My children are super excited for these!! To the people that don't want them, I'll happily pay postage for you to send them to me hahaha!!

    • Sure. You can pay postage for my four-of-the-same-simba from one shopping trip.

  • +3

The outrage brigade is out in full force today. I guesw it's been a while since a straws deal was posted.

  • +1

I thought the title said "Free The Lion King Onesie" and I got super excited. Now I am disappointed. I would have rocked that Simba Onesie.

  • +8

Everyone negging this- tHiS iS BaD foR ThE EnvIRoMent

Same people when they see a plastic knick knack for .01 cents on a China site- hold my beer

    • With intention of using that knick knack mind you.

  • My wife was talking about this, I told her the last lot of crap (woolworths tiles etc) has to go in the bin for this lot comes in the house.

    • +3

I know a little girl in W.A. who wants more tiles, so don't throw them in the bin.

      • I came up with an idea for some crafting so I might not

  • Free toy with spend is not a deal.
Even more so if you spend money exclusively at this supermarket and thus avoid cheaper prices at other supermarkets or if you spend more to get over $30. Same goes for Coles little shop that is starting soon.

    • So all those people spending extra to get to $30 aren’t doing it for a deal .

Advise watch ‘ Dumb and Dumber ‘

  • +2

    Mufasa !

  • +1

Less of a deal, more of a contribution to landfill.

  • +4

Woolies & Coles went to the trouble of removing single-use plastic bags only to start releasing shit plastic toys. what a cop out.

    • +1

More cringe when coles released mini plastic branded items. People got damn addicted to them, HOW THO!? I mean how can someone be so addicted collecting mini plastic products?

      • +1

        Collectamania.

Better than being addicted to gambling.

  • I’ll make a early prediction these will have Coles little shop 2 covered.:)

And for the neg guys watch Gringe .

  • It’s the presentation that puts people off, not just the product.

  • gets rid of plastic bags
also woolies: lets create more plastic rubbish all for the name of profit

  • +1

But a happy meal is cheaper than 30..

    • And with a happy meal children will get an opportunity to learn about American cinema and cuisine

      • And more sugar.

  • I don't believe that these supermarket promotional plastic gimmicks belong on the main bargain page. The supermarkets will be spamming these with ads on tv, in their catalog, and in store so its not as if visibility is needed to help members either.

    • I think all the $2 pensioner club SPECIALS and 50% off supermarket specials should not be on the live page .

But the populous club kicks my butt ; )

      • Actual savings shouldn’t be on the front page? Lol.

    • +1

I’d say they’re more rubber than plastic.

  • This is not a deal.

  • -1

More plastic junks…how is this a bargain!?!!

    • +1

      Rubber.

      • Well, it does comes in plastic wrapping probably.. Though yes it's rubber it seems

  • Some people feel like it's a bargain while others don't. It's a free and wonderful country that allows us to express our opinions. There's validation towards both groups, my opinion is that it's not a bargain.

  • +1

Anyone knows the rarity differences between different coloured ones?

  • Not sure how this is a bargain

    • +1

Spend $30 get a Ooshie according to there Catalogue page 7 valued at $3 each ( even I don't agree with that one lol ) :)

Excludes gift cards would love to have a crack at them with the $100 get $10 Myer offer .

  • +1

I fell for it… when I heard that there is rarity I rushed out and purchased an album… However, what I really hope to win is the family trip to DisneyWorld.. I think there are 136 tickets all up… so 36 families! That's OK odds… sort of…

    • +1

Only if families have 3.77 kids :p

  • +6

Ok, update for everyone here on these based on my own personal experience.

    Yes, I've completed the set.

    1. Gold variations are more common that the normal colored variants.

    2. Blue and orange 'super rare' Simba and mufasa don't seem very rare. I found them plentiful and easy to find.

    3. The most common seems by far to be the Nala, in both variants.

    4. Timon is easy to find by feel

    5. Mufasa and Simba are incorrectly labeled, and the "Blue mufasa" actually depicts Simba from the movie (identified by hair)

    6. Adult Nala and her mother have the same gold model, with the only difference being the most color (black nose for Nala, gold for… Sarabi?), Which makes them hard to differentiate, especially for children.

    7. The rarest for me by far seems to be plain Sarabi, having only found 1 (found over 10 blue and orange before I stopped checking for that shape). Took me a while to find gold zazoo.

    8. Boxes of ooshies (as delivered) do appear to have more of the same type - so if you really want them all you're better off going to different stores.

The quality can be a little off too. Some may have black marks or poor lines between colors.

    • +1

What have you been buying ?

    • +1

Good post. Not sure if I'm feeling heaps of respect or concern.

If you did it to sell those on ebay.. Sweet.

      • +2

I work at a woolies. Smaller store, lots of regulars who want them for their children. I've been putting tiny cuts on the inside fold of the packaging and sorting some for people 😏

$30 seems a bit excessive to be to be able to collect them all successfully

        • -1

They were issued by Woolies in mystery bags to be distributed that way .

I don't see how you have the right to go against the company employing you policy .

I'm not sure what the rarest ooshie is but what are you going to do if for example at Coles a golden trolley worth 10 K + to the first person that gets it up on Ebay ?

So risk your job for your crusade buddy .

          • @profar: Again, small store - given hundreds of these more than we'll give out - and the recycling thing is usually bullshit.

May as well make some kids happy now, instead of hoping they care about them in a couple months when we can just start handing them out for free.

As far as I can see, none of the 24 seem any more rare than others.

$720 dollars needs to be spent to get 24 of these. Give a kid a blue one and watch the smile appear of their face

            • -1

@Salmando: Quite simply is it Woolies policy ?

I can rest my argument there .

              • @profar: Woolworth's policy allows me to

                A) distribute randomly
                B) distribute subject to availability
                C) at the discretion of Woolworths, a.k.a store management discretion, a.k.a Me.

  • -1

Those that think ' lion king ooshies ' have no value search sold listing on Ebay :)

I'd say guys getting the early crème are averaging $5-$6 a pop :)

  • +4

Ignoring whether these are good or bad, this comment is about helping people maximise the amount of Ooshies they can get for their dollar.

Once you spend $30, there are certain brands where for each item purchased (up to 5 per brand) will give you an extra Ooshie. You could go instore and buy 5 Purina One cat foods, 5 Activia Shots, 5 Riverland meats, and a couple of Dettol hand wipes which would get you just over $30. This would get you 18 Ooshies.

While they have a limit of 5 Ooshies per brand in store, Online it doesn't seem to apply. You could purchase 17 Purina One cat foods for $30.60 and that would give you 18 Ooshies as well.

The brands which give the extra Ooshies are Birds Eye, Arnolds Farm, D'orsogna, Cold Power, Finish, Oral-B, Pantene, Dettol, Gillette, Danone, Purina One and Purina Beyond. There are more details on the Woolworths website, and you can sort these products by price as well.

    • +1

Also have the products displayed on promotional posters in stores. Remember to split the items at checkout to avoid the 5 limit per transaction.

If it makes you feel better, Woolworths declares a single transaction as all transaction made from a single visit - as in leaving the store and re-entering is a new transaction.

That's how the baby formula still gets abused, 2 per transaction per entry - otherwise you get a call from customer service vomiting out the broken policy and demanding you serve them. R.I.P stage 3 A2 Platinum

      • I would be pretty pressed to spend more than $150 a visit unless stocking up on specials. There are only 2 of us but son eats so much.

Saw another Yahoo article about the baby formula issue in S.A. last week. Had thought the Asian baby products issue had been rectified by now. Do we need more dairy cattle so we can export more? Stores at the time were saying if shelves are clear to always ask staff to get some from the back of store. Shame some people are still abusing the situation though.

        • +1

Australian product isn't moving that well, seems new Zealand's a2 brand is the demand item.

Typically we have other brands still for sale, and yeah we keep done in reserve if for legit customers.

They a2 company actually dictate how much a store gets, not woolies. Works kinda like bread - they just keep sending more and more until sales are either flat or reduce. It's not uncommon for a couple people to come in and spend hours abusing the 2 per transaction thing, spending well over $6000 (all from gift cards, guessing they got them 5% off) which takes a while. They also get $10 off from time to time using the rewards card.
Personally I don't mind for our store, we keep enough stock for customers, and again the other brands don't sell well (nor the damaged cans) so most mother's seem to not think much of it.

Last time it happened for me, the lady kept all the receipts and requested 213 ooshies. I gave her about 30.

    • +1

Just sucks that you need to spend $30 to qualify for this. My normal total at supermarkets is ~$5 or if I'm actually buying "a lot" it's under $20. There is something I could buy to get me a bonus ooshie but unless I get my total to $30+ (which will never happen) I won't be able to get even a single one.

      • +1

Aww that's sad. I'll send you some if you want
