I assume you could use the $20 Paypal deal to make this $258…and I think the Amex deal could be used with this too?

It wouldn't let me "Add to cart" from that direct link, but it works if you do a search…plenty of store stock too.

Wow - that there is a classic sign of Ozbargainus addictus.

the only way to rid temptation is to yield to it.

Yep altomic, right on the money (pun of course intended); in the trade it's called 'exposure therapy'…the frontline treatment of choice for acute & chronic Ozbargainus addictus! ;)

Rather spend $22 more for the soniq 32" full HD at JB.

    • Could find a 22 inch Soniq FHD at JB for $299.
However, the only 32 inch Soniq FHD at JB is going for $599?
      See: http://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-lcd-led-plasma/soniq/

        • What he meant to say was, its present only in the ozbargain. that price does not exist now at JBHiFi.
Or give a link to JBHiFi at that price.

        • Did we miss out on the JB deal?

        • You should still be able to find them in-store.

        • It was never on the JB web site, only in store.

        • There are plenty of receipts in the thread baras linked to which should help you if they're no longer scanning at $299 (in fact some people were able to get them for $269).

my god tv's are cheap, i paid $1300 for the same specs a few years ago. lol

  • +4

I remember when a Sharp 51cm Stereo TV (20") was $1200. Back then products were actually made in Japan, though.

  • Waiting for a 32" FULL HD and Edge LED..

  • These TVs were $399 not to long ago and around $350 recently. This is an excellent price and I'm so excited that 32" LCDs have finally cracked the sub $300 floor.

  • +1

For those who care, it uses 500kWh per year (based on 10 hour daily usage) so it's a hungry little thing…2 stars govt rating.

  • +4

Perfect for the kitchen for Mrs, thanks OP.
And that super genius Gillard wants to pay $400 to $450 for Set-Top box and wiring for pensioners out of our taxes costing some $350M and yet have the nerve to tell you and I have to pay extra taxes of 1% because of QLD flood relief $1BN after blowing $350M just like that…..LOL, what a circus Joke!
Wouldn't it be cheaper to give every pensioner a brand new HD 32" than to connect their old crappy CRT and than to pay a whopping $400 for a set top box worth $49 or less….as any ozbargainers would tell them!

    • +1

The money isn't paying for the box, it's paying for the installation and the continuing support. Box is cheap, it's the labour that is expensive. However, you can argue that if you bought a TV from DSE they'll support it too, especially for the pensioners.

Anyway, don't know how politics got into a TV deal, I prefer my ozbargain to be..about bargains. This type of bickering can be done on heaps other forums.

The worm buddy, that bloody election time worm!!! :p

I work at DS (just a weekend casual) and this is definitely one of the much better quality cheepo sets that we sell, in terms of picture. Just from my in-store observation of the different TVs.

If you can take advantage of the amex and paypal deals (not sure if they're "stackable"), and want a cheap 32"er, not a bad choice. Even without the deals, for $280 it's decent, but of course not full HD like JB's one.

yaziyo - are you that cute chick working at DSE that all the ozbargain nerds were talking about trying to pick up a while ago?

      • +12

        Only on Friday nights <3

        No, seriously though, I'm a dude :p

        • +2

Depends on how you look in a skirt…a lot of the hardcore nerds around here wouldn't care! ;)

        • +1

@Stew, I didn't mention I was an Arab dude. Hairy legs don't tend to go well with skirts hehe

        • +1

@yaziyo, some guys go for the 'mediterranean' look! ;)

What about this? VIVO 101cm (40") Full High Definition LCD TV LTV40FHD for $444

    http://dicksmith.com.au/product/GE6163/vivo-101cm-40-quot-fu…

  • +1

Wow! Brings it down to $220! I might get one for my granny!

  • I have one of these and the picture quality is great. Waaaay better than the other cheapies out there. Ours lives under the verandah and has survived a summer and the winter so far.

However, we're on our third remote, all replaced cheerfully.

If this is the same as the one we bought (looks to be) then it's a great deal. And seriously, at 32 inch there's marginal difference between full HD and HD. From viewing both this is much better than the VIVO.

  • Oh, and these also have USB input with a basic media server function.

  • Can someone please confirm whether this TV has a headphone jack?

    • negative. bought half year ago.

      • thanks mate. That's a pity, I wanted to get one for my room to use with my wirelesss headphones so I don't disturb my housemates. I guess I'll just keep looking…

  • Hmmm…says discontinued on the website, but can see it advertised in today's catalogue (page 18):

    http://images.lasoomedia1.com.au/imageicon/DSE/Prod/J0051440…

  • 1366 x 768 is standard definition. It's impossible to buy a TV that size with lower resolution any more, so what was once considered 'SD' is now 'HD'. I guess when 2000 line TVs are released the marketers will call it 'Ultra HD'.

  • has this been discontinued then?

also, how would this go as a computer monitor?

    • it would go crap. you want a 1080p screen for computer use..

and IMO, 32" is too big. 24" is a good size for PC use.

  • wonder if it is still available in store?

    • Yeah I went to DSE earlier today - they had about 8 of them ; )

      • wonder why they took it offline

  • just went to buy one today. Hopefully the AMEX discount is not too late
