Think of it as a piece of plastic that rolls your helmet a bit during angled impacts/crashes.
Saves your head from rolling/twisting
What is the cheapest helmet with MIPS?
Probably the Giro fixture MIPS.
Never had a black helmet - does it get hot in the sun?
If you leave a white and dark helmet next to each other. Dark one will have higher temp for sure.
But negligible in real world as you would be moving and, most of the heat would be from your head. But air flow and ventilation helps remove it.
I have a black helmet and it's fine. I think the design would have way more impact on how hot your head will get. Being light foam inside I don't think the shell temperature would be able to spread
Black radiates heat better, with airflow, it's probably cooler

Would this helmet be recommended for someone with an abnormally large and rotund head? Like I'm talking about struggling to find helmets as a kid/XL being tight on the crown etc.
