LG SL10YG (sound by meridian) - check out youtube reviews.
Summarise them for me? :) (YT blocked at work)
It's very nice… If your room is walled. Waste of money if it's open plan.
Didn't watch the YouTube. Had meridian in a closed room, sounded great. Moved it to the hall, found wife checking the connections because apparently the soundbar isn't working and it's the crappy TV speakers. It wasn't.
Thanks for the real world application :)
I checked out both in listening sessions at JB Hifi and wasn't impressed compared to the Samsung range.
I’ve had the SK9Y sound bar for over a year now and it sounds great. When I researched it there wasn’t really that much difference between the 9Y and the 10YG beside a slightly richer sound but not worth the extra dollar imo. I would spend the difference on the optional rear speaker pack as it does a fantastic job and gives proper surround sound as you get full 7.1.2 sound.
I'm confused about the 5.1.2 bit. It seems that there are no back speakers included and can be added. "Note: rear speakers can be added to SK9Y for an extra Two Channels and 140W output with compatible LG Wireless Rear Speaker Kit SPK8-S, sold separately."
So it is really 3.1.2 with an additional option of 5.1.2… :(
There are actually 7 speakers in the sound bar. Three facing forward, two facing upward (for Dolby Atmos) and one on each end that bounce sound sideways and off the walls to behind you to simulate if there were rear speakers. However in saying that If the room is a open design the rear speaker pack is a essential item.
This or Yamaha YSP-2700B 7.1 Soundbar?
