  • mine was shipped today, arriving tomorrow, thanks OP, this is a great deal.

    • congrats big boy!

Let us know what you think

I am thinking to get Carbon gen 7 or Yoga gen 4 but will wait for a sale (Wont be for awhile since they just launched haha)

I did workout I can use a LenovoPro account to get like 100-$300 off but I think maybe then I dont get any cashback

      • +1

got the machine today, very nice unit, the only thing i don't like is, the WQHD screen comes with the IR camera and no thinkshutter, that means you can't just slide the camera over, maybe a FHD is enough if there's an option.

the 3 years warranty from lenovo is depot warranty

        • Does it have windows hello?

        • Got mine today as well - finally! Included screen isn't very bright unfortunately but that is my only quibble for now. That and warranty upgrades are expensive - trying to get 3Y NBD Onsite but seems like the NBD SLA only comes with Premium Support…

  • Mine shipped today.

  • Just had time to sit down and run through everything when I noticed my fan rattled when spinning up/down from/to rest. Also wondered why scrolling on the Trackpoint sucked and finally figured out that it failed to register whenever I clicked the top part of the middle button; also had some issues with the spacebar and backspace keys.

Lenovo declared the unit DOA and Amazon has a replacement on order. I must say the entire process was more seamless than I expected (esp. with Amazon - asked if they needed a DOA reference from Lenovo and they said "Nope, we trust you!"), just waiting for stock to come in now.

Might want to take time to ensure that your unit does not suffer from the dreaded mushy keys issue like I did, and worse still, mushy Trackpoint buttons, as these form one entire unit (keyboard bezel) and are a PITA to replace (everything needs to be disassembled then re-assembled back in the new keyboard bezel. Remember, you've got up to 30 days to file a replacement request with Amazon BUT Lenovo takes time to certify it DOA!

    • Sounds like a huge hassle!

Did Amazon give you an ETA on the replacement?

      • +1

No ETA - item appears to be OOS at the moment :(

    • glad mine seems to be OK so far, one of the key is mushy, but i don't want to try my luck returning it in case i got a worst one

      • Might have let it pass if it wasn't the space bar AND backspace - the two keys are used sooo regularly! Plus Trackpoint middle click not working irked me as I couldn't scroll properly either (it'd release on its own).

        • yep, it's the caps lock key, so i guess it's ok, no fan noise so far which is my main concern, i had some pretty crazy fan noise with my previous thinkpad

          • @reacher: Did you get the Nidec or Delta fan? Drew the short straw on this one and got the Nidec, might be why… Hopefully I get the Delta on the replacment!

    • Lenovo declared the unit DOA and Amazon has a replacement on order

How did Lenovo declare it DOA if you filed for a replacement with Amazon? Did you take it in to Lenovo?

      • Raised a Support case with Lenovo first - took videos as proof. Quite obvious when your keyboard is working intermittently - just try typing!

        • Appreciate the reply.

Mine suddenly went black while using last night. Completely bricked. No lights, doesn't charge, etc.
Just opened a return request with Amazon.

The failure rate on these does not inspire confidence…

          • @OzJunkGain: That's bad, i guess i need to use mine more to test out, i did see one issue with the wireless adapter in mine, keep disconnected after wake up from sleep, the only solution is to install one particular driver, but i don't want to roll the dice again to get a replacement in case it's worst.

          • @OzJunkGain: Wonder if they'll give me your bricked device as a replacement… =/

  • mine is Furukawa (Nidec), but i have no issue so far with the fans, normally i am quite sensitive to fans noise, maybe because i haven't run too many things at the same time
