1-Month Only Unlimited Usenet Access (Non-Recurring) €1 (~AUD$1.62) @ TweakNews

230

Plan gives you 3400 days retention, unlimited downloads and speed, 40 connections and a free VPN.

If you dont have tweak access I recommend taking advantage of this offer and trying it out. Their support confirmed that all of their plans now have 3,400 days of retention. One of the best usenet backbones for improving your completion rates.

  • Top of the morning, awesome deal to wake up to, thanks OP!

  • +1

Their cheapest plan is € 7.95 (~$13AUD) per month, in case anyone wanted to know. Still great value for that first month though :)

  • So this is only one month?

      Looks like it
"Try Our Improved Service For 30 Days - One Time Payment"

      • +1

        Not worth it then :(

  • Is this stackable? If it can potentially be $12 for a year, that's wild. Doubt it is though!

  • Only if our dollar was on par

  • Sweet, 50MBps X 30 days = enough 4k porn for a long time. I'm gonna hoard it like a squirrel with a mouth full of nuts.

Based on what you're planning to download, that squirrel won't be the only thing with a mouth full of nuts…

  • Whats the retention and take downs like on Tweak these days?

  • For those that were after than more than 1 month this deal for usenetsever was posted last week. Just slightly more expensive but for for a whole year! :)

    • Not really comparable as TweakNews is Dutch so is only subject to NTD copyright takedowns, which is a lot slower than DMCA.

UsenetServer is a DMCA takedown provider so it'll take them a while to delete pirate material fake Linux distros

      • What you mean they aren't comparable? You said they weren't and then compared them both.

They are both Tier 1 Usenet providers. They both owned by Oricrom Media.

Retention: Tweaknews 3400 (this is the 1st I've heard them beyond 2500+) vs Usenetserver 3900+

Takedown: Tweaknews NTD vs Usenetserver DCMA

Backbone: Tweaknews Base-IP vs Usenetserver Highwinds and access to Eweka (but still follow DCMA)

Usenetserver wins retention and Tweaknews wins in takedowns.

I would personally take NTD with shorter retention than longer retention with DCMA.

I haven't used Tweaknews in 5-6 years but have used Eweka off and on in that time. I would expect similar performance with both of them. Since switching to Eweka from NewsDemon (who is a Usenetserver reseller) my completion rate has increase from around to 97-98% to 100%. I have not touched my backup blocks since switching to Eweka. Having said this the 97-98% is nothing to be sniffed at. This was first attempts and NewsDemon would manage to download what I needed on subsequent attempts with Sonarr/Radarr.

It is a great price for a month but they are also offering it under costs. Knowing the history of Tweaknews particularly since acquired by Oricrom Media do not expect any further decent on-going offers.

If you need long retention than look at Usenetserver resellers like NewsDemon, Thundernews etc.

If shorter retention is okay than support independent Tier 1 provider UsenetExpress. This is also DCMA but hoping if they do get their NL servers online they switch to NTD. They own retention is 365 days but growing but have an agreeement with Oricrom to get stuff beyond there retention. I think that is 1100 days.

If need shorter retention with NTD than Vipernews (100+) and UsenetFarm (75+ days) are options. I don't believe UsenetFarm rention has plans to grow past their independent 75.

Or there is UsenetNews. They are resellers who offer combinations of Usenet Farm, Usenet Express and Vipernews

  • You know, I said above I would only use this for porn, but I'm considering putting together a Dolby Atmos proper Home Theatre setup together with a receiver which I have never done, and even though I am on a lot of private trackers, those 40GB linux distros can really eat into your ratio.

Haven't used Newsgroups in sooooo long, Have Sonarr/Jackett setup with torrents, but with NBN and 4K / Atmos content - it's starting to make sense again.

  • I don't know if this has changed since first posted, but it looks like its targetted to prior subscribers.
The first email I put in there didn't work, but the second, which I had previously used to subscribe with, did.
