By early next year do you think there will be any GPUs which will utilise 4k at 144hz via HDMI 2.1? I believe current GPUs can only do 4k144Hz via DisplayPort as of now. To me that's the big different between the C8 and C9, so it wouldn't make sense to me to buy this when I can't even utilise the function that I would be buying this for. Definitely excited for the future though.
The HDMI standards are developed over a number of years, so it's possible a firmware update could bring Turing and Navi up to specification.
Failing that, NVIDIA next-gen seems on-track for H2 2020, as does Intel's offering. Big Navi might also bring support in Q2-Q3.
If LG can't get 120Hz BFI established, I'd be waiting for the C10, or whatever they'll call it. That's a TV people will be happy with for 5 years before moving onto microLED.
RTX cards aren't HDMI 2.1 so they can't just be updated via firmware to support the bandwidth.
Also, why would you want BFI? Especially for gaming? Especially on a PC? All that's going to do is increase input lag.

Not presently, but I'm not familiar enough with the PHY in place and if a firmware update can provide sufficient HDMI 2.1 support (perhaps that's 4k120Hz B via DSC, which has much lower bandwidth requirements).
All I know is HDMI 2.1 has been in works for years, and it had to have been a significant consideration for NVIDIA in their hardware stack before Turing was being designed. Perhaps they'll hold out a full implementation for 7nm tech, but it stands to reason that the iterative nature of hardware development has seen them integrate more than just HDMI VRR support in Turing (which isn't confirmed either, but seems likely).
Even if that's not the case, there are now DP 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 converters, but you might need to run a separate audio channel.

It was my understanding that they originally attempted to introduce 120 Hz BFI, i.e. 120 Hz input with 120Hz flicker, along with granularity in the length of the BFI interval, but pulled both features.
It's possible the rumour mill has muddled up a prototype for the near future with this year's features when information was coming out of CES, but if it was full 120Hz with BFI, then input lag would not increase.
Now $3650 :)
Anyone waiting for a 20% code lol?
I wonder if the 20% off codes will be off RRP of $5395.
If it will be, then it's cheaper to buy this weekend from the Good Guys or JB Hifi which are 25% off at $3995
Or get it for $3650 from here
I actually bought it at about $4200, but this is why I have price protection insurance.
What credit card do you have?
Are you able to make another claim if price goes does even further?
Also I wonder if they all accept eBay 20% off deal.28 Degrees. I can keep claiming until I reach the limit, $1000 per item. Not sure if they accept the 20% off, I have not been claiming it.
Any deals on the 77?
Videopro have the cheapest for the 77-inch (https://www.videopro.com.au/p-12459-lg-oled77c9pta-77-oled-s…) - a cool $10,985 which is quite a steep discount when the RRP is $15,999 but still that's a serious markup for what is effectively an extra 12-inches from this 65-inch model.
Hi all, any links for the best price on the -oled65c9pta? I can’t find better than $4,500, I’d love help to find the $3,650 mentioned in this thread.
Pricing drop is around 10% or $400-$600 ahead of this time last year. If that holds, should be looking at around $2600 on clearance early next year.
If they implement 120 Hz BFI properly via firmware, that'll be quite the buy.
