Again —:
Focal Elear goes for $699 , but only Elear this time , not Clear.
Both : Minidisc & A2A have the same price

If you are committing $700 to a set of headphones you really need an amp to drive these well. They are pretty forgiving at 80 Ohms, so you don't need heaps of power. But you do need some.
Bought a set about a year ago after I sold a set of HD650 Sens. They really are awesome, heavier on the bass than most "high end" headphones, but just so clean in the middle and top end. The bass is not just solid, it is super fast and gives kick drums such a fast, dry strike, it makes other headphones seem soft and muddy in the low end. - They are my endgame overears.
look for value performance amps — look for a schiit stack on ebay or if you can find JDS Atom or even better if you can find a Geshelli amp under $150 will be awesome price and good enough to drive these. They are not very high impedance headphones.
I'd recommend you guys check out the fiio k3, it's around $150 RRP. A balanced output is going to be by far the biggest difference the average person can hear.
how does these compare to Hifiman HE-400 or even the Focal Clear?
Class Apart these 2 headphones(HE 400 & Focal Clear…2 ends of the spectrum)
—- ELEAR is heaps better than HE-400, but not as good as Clear. (but not worth the difference $700 vs $2000). Clears went for $1200 last month ..
now $700 for Elears v/s $1200 Clears , definitely Clear.
Remember Clears are 'end game' headphones for quite a few audiophiles out there and are usually said to be better than HD800 or 800s as well.
oh ok cool thanks. I remember the Clear for $1200, I should have gotten them. ill keep an eye in case they reduce again for EOFY sale.
I don't know how I missed the deal on the Clears.
Cascades sound better than the elears, i found then highs piercing however i am in my twenties, so perhaps for older people it'd be more suited who have reduced high frequency hearing
Anyone know how long this is going to last?
What's the minimum you can get away with to drive these?, will be using only with PC and am just using an old receiver at the moment
