Not sure how long this will last, but apparently you can get a Razer Phone for 1 cent?? First post sorry if it's expired by the time I posted

We have recently identified that due to a technical error you would have seen and ordered the Razer Phone 2 handset for $0.01 on our website. Our standard price for the Razer Phone 2 handset is $1,248 which was advertised correctly on other parts of the Optus website.
We're sorry this happened and have fixed the technical error. We have cancelled your Razer Phone 2 handset order and will be refunding your payment. Please allow up to 5 business days for this refund.

      Maybe they are cancelling those who ordered via AfterPay, because of cost of processing payment or treating the purchases as a
      joke.

          A significant feature of PayPal is you can pay for a cheap item from a potentially dodgy merchant and not expose your credit card. AfterPay is for Millennials who cannot resist impulse purchases and makes 30% of revenue from late fees.

            @mathew42: Oh, you're implying that AfterPay initiated the refund process. If so, my bad, I thought you were saying that Optus saw the AfterPay payments as a joke and not all the 1-cent purchases made with CC and PayPal - which is what I was implying.

              @Dr-Krieger: I am suggesting that Optus may have seen AfterPay as an indicator a joke purchase. It may also be easier to cancel AfterPay transactions.

              It is also clear that I've hit a raw nerve with millennials. But the fact that a significant part revenue is from late fees. If you miss the payments on your 1c phone it will cost $68 in late fees.

              • @mathew42: Don't understand the negging on your post. Good explanation, I wasn't aware of most of this, never used the service myself. Suppose you learn something new everyday.

          • @mathew42: PayPal do not expose your credit card details to sellers, but they give them all other information about you (name and address etc).

            When I rang them to complain about it they said PayPal was never meant to protect our privacy, but our security (by not giving out credit card details).

            There is an easy way around this, if you want privacy as well - just upgrade to a business (it's free).

            The only thing about the business account is that you will need an ABN, but those are easy to get even if you don't have a business (just say you're planning on selling hand-knitted scarves or something).

            • @BooYa: Thanks for highlighting that PayPal share name and address.

              Reflecting on this, I only use PayPal for online shopping and in that scenario the seller already has my name and address as it is a bit hard to post an item without that. However I will keep this in mind for digital purchases.

                But there was one instance when I wish PayPal did not disclose my name and address - I made some donations using PayPal to some online streamers (on Twitch).

                I wish I'd known that at the time, because I'd rather the online streamers didn't know my real name and address, so I'd use another way to support them anonymously.

    • If you count weekend, they need 5 days to confirm $1200 phone sold at 1c is indeed a mistake, and then another 5 days to refund 1c.
