  • Will this work on Optus?

    • Yes this is unlocked and will work with Optus

    • +4

      Optus's 3G network is 2100mhz (city) and 900mhz (regional). This phone supports 850mhz & 2100mhz 3G/UMTS.
Thus you have access to Optus's city 3G network, but not their regional one.

      Hope this helps.

      • +2

thanx megaphat, the regional coverage could be a bit of a deal breaker.
Is there anyway the frequency can be changed to 900mhz.

Just had a quick look on XDA-no dice

      • when you say regional, do you mean like way out in the country or like would outer Melbourne suburbs be affected? also would the reception be reduced in any way? for example say you have low 3g data reception does a optus phone normally drop to 900mhz to keep a strong signal or is 900 exclusively for the country?? Thanks in advance :)

  • WOW, right price at the right time…I was abt to buy from Crazy Sales…Thanks guys.

  • Do we get a tax invoice?

    • +1

Yes a tax Invoice will be included with the Phone! Thanks for the positive votes guys! Keep them up so we can continue to bring you great deals

      • Thank you….Does it work overseas on 2G?

        • +1

          Yes no problems

      • Hi,
this is a great deal~ just purchased one.
Would you be able to give me an est number of days it takes for delivery?
        Ta!

  • +3

best to pony up for a 320x480 screen so more apps work.
LG optimus one for $178 still going..

    • Is that next-g compatible? and open tethering?

  • Does this have tethering unlocked too?

  • good deal, optimus one a better phone though, if you disregard sense

    • Thanks, We still have limited stock of the P500 left also at the special price

  • +1

    very nice price!

will these handsets come with Android 2.1 or 2.2?

  • +1

Any chance of a discounted Nexus S?

    • +2

      What's discounted? :)

      • +3

haha…you have a very good point!
It is quite a reasonable price…

But I don't think we would complain about any further discounting on the current price… ;)

        cough the white one cough

        • +9

For Oz Bargain supporters - $449 + free Delivery. Let me know if you are interested

        • Uniquemobiles: That $449 + free delivery for the Nexus S should be posted as a deal all by itself, it's most definitely a deal that would interest some ozbargainers. Three questions I (and others) would probably have: Would that phone be locked? And would it be the Next-G/850 version or the everyone-else/900mhz version? And would it be the AMOLED version or the Super Clear LCD version?

  • Is it upgardable to Android 2.2?

    • +2

Mine upgraded OTA to 2.2 a few days ago when I turned it on

      • Sorry but what's OTA?

        • +3

OTA = Over the air. Through the network.
The update can also be downloaded for HTC's website.

  • Is this Australian stock with Australian Warranty (with HTC)?

    • +1

Yes correct, Australian stock with HTC Manufacture warranty

  • Is HTC Wildfire black phone too on sale or just only white colour phone ?

    • +1

Only the white version at this stage sorry

  • Can this phone be used on the Three(3) network?

    • +1

      Yes

  • +1

IS this better or the LG optimus one?

  • Looks like a good deal, browsing around their site, the cheapest is $219 compare to the one posted here $175 (2nd url below)

    http://www.uniquemobiles.com.au/Items/htc-wildfire-white?&caSKU=htc-wildfire-white&caTitle=HTC%20Wildfire%20White%20Next%20G%20Android%20(Australian%20Stock)

  • Is the black one available at the same price?

    • +8

*** TO THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT *** Choice of black also available now. Use this link
      http://www.uniquemobiles.com.au/Items/htc-wildfireoz-blk

      • it is black right? Not dark grey? I'm going to order one after your reply, so just to make sure. Thanks for making the black one available too.

        • Yes correct black

      • Nooo! I just placed my order for a white one :( I actually asked if I could get it in another colour and told no. Is it too late to change??

        • If you email them back & mention the new OZBargain link for the black one it should be okay

          (Note: I don't represent uniquemobiles :P)

        • What is your order ID ill see if its left yet? If not we can change it to black for you

      • is this one unlocked aswell? doesn't state it like the white one does?

        • Yes this one is also unlocked!

  • +3

I bought this phone a while ago from uniquemobiles but got it for a higher price :(
I gave it to my mum as a present a few months ago and she loved it. This phone is outstanding for the price.

  • This phone looks ideal for me, but I need one with a front facing camera. With what I can tell it only has a rear camera. What phone could you recommend with both front and rear facing camera so I can make video calls? Thank you.

    • an iphone

      • an iphone cant make real video calls on a 3G line

  • What is its screen size?

  • Stop tempting me! :P I just bought an IDEOS a couple of weeks ago after umming about this but decided not to get it due to $$$ difference (at the time). If it used a slightly higher res screen I'd be all over it

    • The optimus one is a much better handset than either an IDEOS or Wildfire (unless you specifically need 850mhz) http://dicksmith.com.au/product/E7328/virgin-lg-optimus-one-… as others have mentioned.

      • I had a look at that but I still prefer the HTC (outside of specs)

      • well the wildfire has a 5megapixel camera and the sense interface which is said to be one of the best ones for android. I have HTC desire myself and I really like using Sense with all the nice widgets. looks better than the optimus one too

      • to the rep, u said u still have the P500 for a special price.. does it beat DSE's $179? cos at the moment it is $250 on your website..

        • Im guessing the wont be able to match the price, as the $179 is locked to virgin (although a $5.50 unlock code is easily obtained on ebay).

        • +1

oh so wrong webbj… LG Optimus One, Unlocked, $178 DELIVERED
          see here

        • +1

Hi, You will need to use this link to get the special price - http://www.uniquemobiles.com.au/Items/lg-optimus-one-oz

        • Argh, awesome deal with the Optimus One, very tempting!

I'm just worried you guys might roll out an even better deal if I snap this one up!

        • wow - cant complain about that price. Amazing deal.

Would certainly pick that over the HTC (unless 850mhz was required)

  • This is a very cute little phone and an absolute bargain for <$200 Android.

  • Ordered a black one a few hours ago, very quick process to order over the phone. Yay for great service and great deals!

  • HTC site has ROM Upgrade for HTC Wildfire (Telstra), does it mean I need to be with Telstra for the upgrade??

  • -4

I can't even put the order through. It always comes up with an error about "no shipping option available for this invoice". Not happy jan.

    • Hi, Are you trying to add something else to cart? If so because of how our system operates it will charge you freight. Send your order to [email protected] and I will process it for you in the morning. Would appreciate if you can remove neg and replace with a positive vote :)

    • Tried two addresses in Sydney. Both "incompatible addresses". Ridiculous.

      • i tried to buy the black htc wildfire at 6.00pm (eastern standard time) but the website was stuffed up, when i was trying to approach to payment stage is has gone blank. but it was showing available. i spent a lot of time doing research, its really frustrating that i could not buy it. now waiting for Unique mobile's response on that issue as i sent them email. …….

  • Spent heaps of time investigating Android phones & this looks like a good deal, esp where postage is a factor. I would probably want the A3333 for 900mhz for regional Optus 3G - YesG.
After getting the mytab last week, I was flabergasted to find no wi-fi proxy access. This kills all Android devices for me. Never thought I would actually have to turn to Apple - sigh.

    • and this has to do with the excellent deal above how? (try google, there's apps/roms which handle this)

Great deal on a NextG android guys! In fact the missus is trying to convince me to get 2

  • I get the same problem. Never gets to the payment website.

    • +1

You guys can purchase if you have no other items in your cart and also if you choose to pay as a guest and select paypal. This is what I did. Hope that helps !

      • Thanks mate. That worked good!! Ordered the black one for my wife.

I couldn't see the stock levels on their website. Hopefully I'll confirmation sometime soon.

  • To the REP: I purchased one of these for myself. But someone else also purchased it for me (as a surprise gift) because I have been whinging for a while I need a new phone. I believe the 2nd order was made after hours; in fact just a few hours ago. Could we please cancel the 2nd order ? Sorry this is what happens when both of us have ozbargain as our homepages !!!! :banghead:.

    • An email has been sent to you regarding this. Please help us !! It's not exactly a bargain if we have a phone we can't use (our fault entirely I know) but please please help !

  • Ah… why are you guys not selling HTC Incredible S :(

  • +3

My boy just got in contact with the REP and they were able to cancel one of our orders (because we both doubled up after seeing this deal). I am so happy with their customer service and can't wait to get my order !!! YAY! + from me.

  • I ordered the phone yesterday and it arrived today. The only thing is, the box was already open. Is this normal?? I checked the serial numbers and it matches the box. But the box was already open and the protective plastic on the phone has already been removed. Have I gotten a returned/secondhand one? (Accessories are still in the bag unopened)

    • i think they open the box to unlock it, on some htc phone the plastic covering wraps around the whole phone (if that is the case here they probably had to remove it to put in the battery).

  • Great deal, but you can now get the desire on ebay for sub-$400… I will probably end up getting that

  • You guys have to compare this deal fairly, I got mind today. It is actually a Telstra phone. For you to get this outside unique mobile, you will have to pay 199 + $30 (unlock by phone shops or online) which mean you save 54 bugs. What more can you ask. FYI those other online or Ebay deal can be overseas stock which mean you may have a warranty problem. With this one, theoretically I can go into a Telstra own Tshop to warranty it.

    • did you get any shipping advice via email or did it just turn up today?

      • Hi, Shipping notification should come to your email after 6pm on the same day you placed and paid for your order

        • cheers thanks, do these phones have any telstra branding apps? are they removed prior to shipping?

    • I got a quote from the Telstra Shop of $100 (!!) to unlock the HTC Wildfire when I thought about getting it for $199 from BigW. Obviously I should just avoid Telstra completely :P

      • Boom will charge u 30 to 50 depends on your suburb . Online unlock can be as cheap as 10 bucks. Work or not depend on your luck.

  • I considered the HTC Wildfire, but it only has 320 x 240 screen res, which limits the Apps that can be downloaded from Android market. Ended up getting LG Optimus One for $179 from DSE (Virgin locked but can be easily unlocked for $4 ish from ebay). Very good phone for the price, well built and the navigation is as good as a dedicated GPS unit. I think Unique Mobiles also still have it for $178 unlocked with free delivery.

    • good point, but you should consider the wildfire has flash lite support in the browser and the optimus one does not. May not bother some people but is a deal breaker for me personally.
The optimus one is a great phone though and they are selling it for a great price.

  • Any real difference between ordering this from Telstra and uniquemobiles? I assume as it's Next G (850mhz), it's better for rural areas?

  • I received my order yesterday and found it was still locked with Telstra.
How can I unlock the phone?

    • Are you getting an Error message?

      • I tried Telstra sim and it worked well. Then I tried optus GSM sim and it said "unlocked" and could not recognize the sim (no signal at all).
        Thanks.

        • I suggest you give our Technical guys a call on 1300 729 101 as they may be able to assist you over the phone

  • Thanks for the help!

  • I tried to purchase HTC Wildfire over the internet but it stop after proceed to checkout payment site. There's nothing come out after that.

I am oversea and could not call 1300 729 101 for this issue.

Is there a landline number like +61 7 XXXX XXXX for help as well?

    • We have our technical team working overtime on fixing this checkout issue, We are finding that this problem only occurs for registered users and not guest check-out. Our apologies for the inconvenience caused. Sorry we do only have the 1300 720 101 number.

      • Hopefully the offer will come back again, missed to grab one.

  • +1

recieved my order today and found it was already updated to 2.2.1 can you confirm this was done by your technicians? just worried i got a returned phone?

Anyone else who received their phone have 2.2.1 preloaded?

also are these phones rooted? i.e. is there a way to remove telstra apps?

    • anyone????

      • I had ordered it , I will let you know when I get it :)

        • thanks myview!

      • +1
