    Isn't that a documentary ?

It's a science-fiction (or speculative fiction) movie, in documentary format. It can be considered both a movie and a documentary at the same time.

Although most movies are fictional, they don't have to be fictional to be called movies. There are lots of non-fiction movies, if you think about it. For example, biographical movies like Ghandi and Erin Brockovich and Lorenzo's Oil. Sure, each of them had some parts that may not have been exactly what happened, but the same happens in "reconstructions" of crimes in crime documentaries.

      • Good examples…

  • 2040 is listed as a documentary, it's by the same guy who made "That Sugar Movie" (also a documentary).

Apparently it's about how good a life we could be living in 2040, if everyone (individuals and governments) makes the right choices between now and then.

I've seen "That Sugar Movie", it was pretty good. This one will probably be even better, as it isn't tackling a single issue.

I read somewhere that that movie was sponsored by the salt industry… So obviously a conflict of interest there. Take the information given in the movie with a grain of salt…

And yet, he did sugar-coat the message…

        • It left me with a sour taste in my mouth.
