  • Besides the pretty poor battery a decent phone

    • +1

Seems like a very amazing phone for under $400! Battery is a bit average for heavy users, but otherwise, what's the trap? Terrible UI or something?

      • +1

No dramas besides that. I love Sony phones, very snappy and imho same hardware usually performs better than samsung

        • Friend got a new XZ two weeks ago from ebay for around $220, was a completely sealed box and after opening was surprised to see an Australian charger packed in as well as a nice Sony Headset ( yes, unlike the XZ2 the XZ still has jack ), but for me an even bigger surprise was that after turning it on the battery was close to 95% full And O.S. had already been updated to the latest Oreo 8.0 ( latest O.S. for the XZ anyway, sadly only had Android Security level Dec 1 2017 only, without further updates ).

The main plus related to this deal is phone runs quick and smooth, even with only 3GB ram for the XZ.

There are a few sony apps that you can't delete, Amazon, AVG, Facebook, Spotify, SwiftKey, Weather, and a handful of Sony apps too.

          Nice phone.

Have you been having bad battery experience? I have this phone and the battery lasts me well over a day. But it can be down to our personal usage I guess. I can recommend this phone at this price - definitely. Make sure you get a good/solid case as the phone has all glass, and can be quite slippery without a case. The camera is average Sony, great in daylight, okay in everything else, the dedicated camera shutter is nice Sony trait. Slow motion camera is excellent (when you figure out how to time it correctly). Screen is punchy and vivid for an LCD, dual front speakers are above average IMHO, waterproofing, quick and wireless charging ability are a plus. I've used this phone well over 6 months, and it was purchased for much more than this price now, and it has been impressive. I am not sure about the Sony warranty process for phones, as others have noted, but their camera warranty was fine when I had to claim something last time. Nice phone for the price!

      • Oh wow, an XZ2 user? I have an XZ1C and was thinking of upgrading.

Quick question, are you on Optus by any chance? If you are, does VoLTE work? Cause I don't see XZ2 in the list of compatible phones.

And being an XZ1C user (the phone was never launched here), it's really annoying when the phone jumps back to 3G when you're on a call in an area where the 3G signal sucks.

  • This is the single sim model… correct?

    • Yes single sim

    Full new manufacturer warranty?

      12 months

That was not a "yes". From Sony Australia?

          • +12

@erroorfree: No, you haven't, and that kind of attitude will not encourage people to buy from your business. Now answer the question. Who is providing the warranty - you, or Sony Australia?

    • +2

I am not sure I have much faith in Sony Mobile support. They have effectively withdrawn from Australia - and have 'precisely two employees left in Australia to provide customer support for existing customers' - if warranty/service is a concern I would not recommend a Sony phone.

      • But if you bought a new or genuine "open box", you would have the benefit of a local service agent.
Sounds like these are used, maybe repaired with after-market new case and screen. You take your chances with the battery.

  • Single or dual SIM?

    • Single

      • So no space for microSD card?

  • What is the screen size of this phone?

    • 5.7 inches

Got any deals on the XZ2 Compact? the last of the truly great compact androids.

    • Sorry don't have it in stock atm

    • LOVE COMPACT SERIES TOO HERE:)

  • Non AU model, it doesn't list Band 28?
Looks like the AU model (with Band 28) was model number H8266 according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_Xperia_XZ2

The phone in the picture is the XZ2 Premium, you'll probably want to fix that

    • +1

I couldn't see NFC mentioned in the specs, but it did have the NFC/nespresso logo in the picture so I thought I'd double check the non-premium has that as well. It does.

In case anyone's wondering, the visible difference is TWO front cameras VS a single one, otherwise looks the same to me.

I bought a lower mid-range Sony phone in 2016, it had a lot of undeleteable apps. Not just a butt load of Sony apps but Facebook, AVG, and the like.

No real problems other than that, but it was off-putting.

      • +1

undeleteable apps. Not just a butt load of Sony apps but Facebook,

You should be able to disable them, which will delete updates.
You cannot "delete" the original because it lives in the read-only partition.

        • Still annoying as they seem to miraculously turn themselves back on by themselves and keep coming up with the Android updates, as well as the sneaky Sony updates too.

        • Some can be disabled, but for some that option is greyed out.

And as mentioned, they silently "undisabled" themselves on occasion. Facebook managed to do so constantly, I'm guessing something about going to the website, maybe?

They all undisabled for big updates like going from Marshmallow to Nougat.

Other than the 4K screen on the Premium ;)

    • Agree, change the photo to the XZ2 please. Not the Premium model with double rear cameras.

  • +2

this is the pix of xperia xz2 premium.

I think AU model of xz2 should be dual sim model.

    • Yes, I think it is the XZ2 Premium shown in the pic - as there is a dual camera set up. The XZ2 does not have a dual camera. Maybe OP please change/update.

    • sorry the thumbnail pic is incorrect. updating it right now

  • Could be an option for Remote Play, get the attachment for the DualShock 4 and sit in bed playing God of War.

  • Great price, Awesome phone

  • Make sure spend your money on trusted source people. I had terrible experience with them in the past.
