If part of various unions, please add an additional 5%, travel allowance, turning 4 corners allowance, accommodation allowance, movement by being lifted and tapped on each space allowance, taking your total to $800 to be collected. However you miss a turn to take your RDO.

Googled how many versions = 1144 LOL .

All for what isn’t actually a good board game mechanics-wise by modern standards.

      • Yep. Remember seeing on reddit someones strategy where you buy any property you come into contact with, and your chance of winning compounds with every property you own.

        • +4

          Sounds like real life

        • +2

Well, you have a chance to buy any property anyone comes in contact with under the actual rules in the box (which nobody reads because they assume they know them).

If the person who lands on a property declines to buy it, it immediately goes to auction.

          • +2

@[Deactivated]: Fake news, it goes to the free parking for the next person to land on it but not on 1st round cos you cant buy anything in the 1st lap of the board. Also if you in jail you cant buy or take rent.

            • @Bryanalves: I’m sure there are more Monopoly “house rules” than variants of the game.

But none of them overcome the fundamental flaws in its mechanics.

Just for the record, here’s the property rule:
“Whenever you land on an unowned property you may buy that property from the Bank at its printed price. You receive the Title Deed card showing ownership; place it face up in front of you. If you do not wish to buy the property, the Banker sells it at auction to the highest bidder.”

This isn’t new. It’s been in the rules all along.

Brisbane version: The result of every roll of the dice is halved to take into account traffic jams. Railway stations can only be purchased by overseas investment. Any property you purchase may be resumed at any time by the government to make way for tunnels, overpasses or a new high rise.
