Folding Bikes at Rays Outdoors $36.75 / $40 after 26.5%/20% off Probably SOLD OUT

480

Folding Bikes at Rays Outdoors $36.75, clearance at $50 but after 26.5% off (to members) $36.75, be quick, 3 styles, originally $200+ I got the aluminium frame model, Shimano gears, 6 speed. They will go very quick I think. Cheers

Mod:

I think most stores have sold out, these are a clearance item, no more coming in I was told. Told you they would go quick, probably see a few on eBay. Not mine though.

If the deal is only for members, it should say so in the title…

      Dear 'neg' brigade:

Show yourself, you damn cowards. If you're going to cower behind your anonymous negs on user comments and not participate constructively in this community, please get the hell out of ozbargain.

      Thanks.

      • +4

Easy h. We've got thousands of users looking at these pages; let's not get too caught up in a handful of people who don't like a comment/user.

Lead by example, and you'll sleep well at night no matter what the neggers do.

        • +4

I can see both sides of the coin though, the number of truly innocuous comments I've seen negged is shameful!

Not saying all of jv's comments are innocuous, but technically on this point according to OzB rules he's correct; and he's pos'd the deal after all! :o

        • +8

i wasn't just being technical… the original title just said something like

"Folding Bikes at Rays Outdoors $36.75"

which wasn't true for most people if they just entered the store to get one…
that price was only valid for members, regardless of whether membership is free or not, you still needed to become a member first to get that price…

        • +2

I didn't intend to assign any negative connotation to the term technically correct…simply agreeing that postings require full disclosure in the title/description. If you didn't pick it up somebody else would have, you just copped the negs! :)

        • +1

          you just copped the negs!

          i'm used to that… :)

the trolls need to come out of under their bridges and caves

  • How do u become a member?
    is it national deal?

    how big is the bike?

  • +1

You can sign up instore for membership, get the discount straight away, and it doesn't cost anything. At least that's how it worked last time I was there, not too long ago.

one demo left at Melbs - Elizabeth St store

    • how do u know?

      how big are the wheels?
      still looks at little small!

  • These are really common in Japan. Great price

  • Oh well. Just checked with my local Ray's outdoors. Sold the last one yesterday. Shame.

  • Wheels are 49cm or 19 inch on outside of tire, it is a travel bike.

  • These size bikes are great for travel, be it in the car boot, airline (no oversize charge), or bus.

I changed the gears on mine from the original 14-28 to a 13-34 alpine freewheel. Makes the hills a lot easier!

    Nice wooden table :)

    Great deal as well!

  • awesome price, thanks op. Only display left at Brighton, Vic. 20" wheels.

  • +1

    Got wood?

Added some Hayes hydraulic disc brakes, full ultegra drivetrain, carbon wheelsets and seatpost to mine. great little things.

    • no suspension ?

      • maybe later budget is a bit low atm

        • Nice upgrades so far though, think you just need carbon bottle cage ;)

        • @zhenjie. I wonder why.. u bought 2 tvs last week :P btw how much did all those upgrades cost and were they simple enough to do yourself. I was a fairly avid biker but stopped when some knob broke into my garage and stole my giant bike some years ago :(

  • Just called Preston store- Sold out- Lady said not sure whether they will be getting anymore

        From watching national geographic

  • +1

How do you get the extra 20% off?
    Clearance price is $50.

  • +1

beware the fake shimano gear, or stores lose money to sell them.

  • +1

Just bought two bikes for $73.50. The in-store stickered price was $499.95 each!!! Another guy turned up as I was at the checkout and bought the last bike and gave me the knowing Ozbargain smile and wink;)

    • +3

You should've kicked him in the nuts for me Steve…I just rang Kotara & they said they'd just sold the last one! :(

      • +1

Sorry Stew there were only 3 at Kotara. The phone was running hot at the check-out of people asking about the folding bike. I rang Ray's as soon as deal posted and jumped in my car when they said they wouldn't hold.

Also forgot to thank OP. Thanks Suby, happy riding.

  • The store in castle hill wanted to charge me $50, I explained but still.
The bike is not that great anyway, yes, it's cheap!, but you can usually see some DLT bikes for around $100 which are way better than this.

  • I don't know how a folding bike works. Can someone supply a picture of one of these folded?

  • I too would like to know where this 20% off is coming from?

*Edit: Nevermind I answered my own question, storewide 20%off sale starting 3rd June. http://www.raysoutdoors.com.au/20pc-off-storewide.aspx

UPDATE the post or I will neg it!

    They are sold everywhere!!!!!!!!!!

each store only had about 2-4 bikes

If you think about it, that's worse than COTD numbers

    • +2

      Psyy choo

    • +3

Don't neg it unless you think OP bought them all.
Instead click the report button on the deal, and select Sold Out. Then a mod can do what they like with it.

  • Burleigh has none :(

I was told the were running them out and wont get more..

  • These bikes were old stock and were on clearance. I rang around the stores and managed to buy 2 ex- display at the South Morang store :-), then when l got home there was message on my answering machine from one of the stores l had called earlier who had told me they were holding 2 bikes for someone else until end of trading were not collected and l could pick them up if l wanted….so l got to buy 4, :-). With the VIP Membership which l signed up for in the South Morang store it only cost me $154 in total for 4 bikes.

  • thanks! I paid $50 but cannot complain. Full suspension ex demo.
Further discounts are not supposed to apply to clearance items.

    Was$499.

  • Anyone know any link to user's manual for this bike? I've got an ex demo one, no box.

    • Me too. Not that there seems to be much to know.
Do the shocks need any maintenance?

Big problem! My seat is way too low even at the post's "minimum insertion mark", and I'm short.
Looks like this bike (the dual-suspension one at least) is made for midgets.
I will look for a longer post, or extension.

  • Ray's Outdoor in PRESTON VICTORIA rang me and told me that they just had a delivery of 10 more of these bikes, l bought 1 leaving 9 more in the store at around 3.45pm this afternoon. They will not discount the price any further from the $50 even though l had members discount applied to others l bought at other store. Suggest if Preston is too far to travel then give your local store a call and see if they received any more or ring Preston store and get them to have one transported to your local store. Be quick. Great Value Bikes!!

  • @subydooby - Thank you for posting receipt and photo. I was able to order one over the phone with the details you provided. Cost $10 for delivery and got 10% RACQ discount off $50 purchase price, so all up $55 delivered. Very happy! Thanks for sharing :o)

  • Those who picked up one of these bikes and no longer want it and want to sell it please contact me.

  • Yay! Got my new 27.2 x 400mm seatpost for this bike. Now I can ride it properly without cracking the frame.
The stock tube is ridiculously short. Nobody else had this problem?

A proper seatpost was only $20 shipped from England. Its very important to have the saddle at the correct height, and still have enough insertion of post in tube. However if you are abouve average height, even the 400mm may not be enough.
Better quality folding bikes use a larger diameter seatpost, since it needs to be so long.
