Is that as easy as opening a new PayPal account using a different email and using a US based address (I assume a hotel address for example)? Or can you switch back and forth from an Australian PayPal account?

Buy some Xbox credit through amazon us. Add it to your account. Buy the game.
Do the gift cards on microsoft website work as well?
As long as you buy US credit. That’s fine. Last time I tried that it didn’t work.

@BargainGhost: Buy Xbox credit mate. I haven’t done it through the Microsoft store in ages. I just buy it through amazon us now days. They’ll email you the code. Change your location to us on your Xbox. Enter the code. Go shopping. Buy the game.
From my experience this does not work. Tried to use paypal, gift cards on microsoft website. Seem to not work. Tried amazon gift cards but all sold out. Not sure if this works or not.

Looks like it could be a price error, the game doesn't have the usual "discounted by x%". Hell of a deal though!
