No s-pen support is just unbelievable.

    • Not with this price range.

      • Tab a 8.0 with s pen has been announced, and will have a similar price point. I guess there's a screen size vs. s-pen decision.

        • From what I understand, that's not coming to the Australian market. With iPhone now making all of their models compatible with the pencil, it's amazing that Samsung didn't do the same. Even their new models that are targeted at the education market don't have this feature.

          • @Fabio08: oh really? I thought that it would be released in Oz later in the year. Such a shame - an 8-inch with a s-pen support is the sweet spot for me.

    • Agreed. Well, the fact that they don't have an S pen model is unbelievable. I was all set to buy a 10 inch Tab A with S pen to replace my old Note 10.1, but they no longer sell one.

      • Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 (2018) has s-pen feature but it does comes with a price.

Exynos 7904 is the same chip in M20. The performance is somewhere between 636 and 660. $284 isn't a bad price for a 10 inch tablet with an Aus Warranty.

    • What's M20?

  • +1

Managed to PB over the phone delivered. Thanks OP

  • Bought mine at samsung store for 296. It's ok for general use, to replace an aging but still functional tab a 9.7 from 2015!

    2 gig ram your kidding.

    • +2

Yet, Samsung Tab A 10.1 2019 is almost twice faster than $449 Lenovo P10 tablet with 4gb Ram thanks to the better SOC.

  • -1

    2gb ram… no thanks

  • +1

Surprised by 2Gb but seems to get a reasonable Ki score

2 gb ram is normal in the price range.
I bought this last week to replace my aging tab S2 8.0 32gb.

The big advantage for this table is a ratio. Great for watching Netflix or YouTube!
Also, I can read PDF files as the screen is bigger than my previous one.

The price is pretty good IMO.

    • +1

Isn't Tab S2 better than this?

  • the 2018 model still seems better, 2 weeks ago jbhifi still had it on clearance for 340$-ish and that thing has slightly bigger screen (10.5" vs. 10.1"), 3gb ram, bigger battery and - the best part - supports the "pogo" doc.

    • +1

If you see the chart about the performance on the internet, you can find that 2019 model (10.1) is faster than 10.5 one.

The advantage for 10.5 compared to 10.1 (2019) is -
      1. slightly bigger screen
      2. slightly large battery
      3. more speakers

      • riiight, forgot the speakers, +1 for the 2018 model. but as usual ymmv

    • +2

The 3gb RAM seems to me to be the big difference.

The 10.5 version is still available at some Good Guys stores for $314 ($349 less 10% through Ebay store or tonight's 10% off ticketed prices VIP night).

  • I have this tablet. Screen is great. Plays all my games well.

The major flaw for me is no stereo sound.

Thank you for posting. I have been waiting for this and would never have found it otherwise.

It’s cheaper to buy off their eBay store using PRIORITY10 (10% off) code.

    • thank you ultramic. I've updated the deal

Nice thing its under $300, so instant tax write off. You all mostly use it for work purposes don't you? Reading docs, watching work related videos, etc

Useless tab. Can take it if it's free. Had bought it earlier and useles within 6 months. Battery is a dud.

    • +7

?? it was not available 6 months ago since it was released around April.
Are you sure that you are talking about the same model??

    • you must of had a dud, Ive got a 3yo tab A 8.0 battery lasts 6-10hrs still

  • Does it have usb-c?

    • indeed it does

if you are curious about other spec specifics you can check here

  • Anyone know if this device will handle POS software easily such as Kounta etc? Or do I need to go up a few models?

    • +1

Tab A 10.1 is a recommended device on their website, but I'd reckon it is a 2016 version, not this 2019 version.

      • thanks. Considering if I need a 4G version now if things go pear shaped and I'll need a back up!

      • Says needs to run Oreo for this software, not released till late 2017 so most likely a 2017 or 2018 model, unless older models running Oreo.

        • +1

The 2016 model is running on Oreo. Samsung did 2 ~ 3 major updates on it.

          • @[Deactivated]: Yes, the Tab A 10.1" (2016 ) has had two major Android upgrades and can now run up to stock Oreo, but the CPU is only up to 1.6GHz and not the stated required minimum of 1.8GHz if that is correct.

The 2018 model came out with Oreo and runs at the stated 1.8GHz but not really sure myself as I don't have those tablets lol.

  • +2

Not sure why many tablets have such little RAM…4gb should be the absolute minimum.

    • +1

Because it wouldn't be a $300 tablet if it had 4GB RAM.

      • We are in 2019, not 2009

        • +8

Correct, that's why this uses DDR4 and not SD RAM. The 2GB you see here is not the same 2GB from 10 years ago.

    • +2

Overseas stocks got 3GB which is a lot more reasonable

  • Just went to purchase and it's all sold out!

  • -7

I got the 3gb one from binglee last time for the same price

  • The code doesn't work with ebay BTW - has to be on this list.

    Did it used to work?

    • +1

it did but its out of stock now

  • Was 2 gb even usable?

    • Sure was/is for many, but does not please all.

    • Yes, people are just crying over it because they can.
