  • did you somehow know this or from whirlpool ;)

    • i found it one their site last night whilst checking prices across the board, but yes i also did post it on whirlpool after i bought one this morning

oh same username on whirlpool. millerZ was the first that post that the phone is available for $779 tho. glad that the news get verified.

    Decent price :)

It is considering i canceled my order from unique mobiles (UK) a week ago that was around $710 delivered. im happy to pay an extra $69 for Aussie Warranty, Charger, A point of return and Pay then take home…..

      • +1

Agreed. Im hoping telstra release this phone with a decent plan and get it on my staff cap which I used for my desire lol.

  • +1

Awesome phone, great price. Was just researching it last night.

Cheapest price in Aus. Although clove.co.uk have them for around $715 delivered. But not sure if they have international warranty and the wall charger will definitely not be an Aus version.

    • +1

clove is uk warranty, and for any warranty purpose you meant to send back to uk.

    • they only have a 3 month warranty which can only be serviced in the UK, and its also a head ache to send the phones back with the lithium batteries.

      • +1

nop last time i check its 2years warranty too, just like those sold in australia.

    • -1

that is Delivered, and the price excludes delivery.

      • +5

its only $764 delivered! so still cheaper

        • +2

guess op can update with the deal. But so far only one success in allphones, and the website of allphones is preorder. quite a few ppl got theirs from telechoice as reported in whirlpool

        • yer, i will add to description,

but my deal is a In-Store Deal, without mucking bout with delivery and waiting….

  • +1

So it looks to be quad band 3G? Should therefore work on both Optus and Telstra NextG nextworks. Nice!

    • +1

it has been confirmed working on all optus and telstra networks….

      • Does it explicitly support NextG i.e. no special Telstra version required?

I have current Galaxy (non-Telstra) and whilst it works on Telstra I don't get NextG. Hopefully the II is better?

        • +1

your old galaxy s gen 1 does not have quad band UMTS. so you will miss next g but this next gen galaxy s2 has quad band 3G, so it will work just fine

  • -1

I find the phone too light

  • +2

Thanks been looking for a good local price.

  • Nice purchase. Do you like it? This is the best phone out there, or coming up isn't it?

I'm planning to get it as soon as Vodafone release it on their $45 infinite plan. I expect it will probably cost $20 a month. Anyone have any deets about it being on Vodafone? I called them and they said "August" but perhaps it will be sooner if other stores are already selling them. Vodafone have run out of stock of the Galaxy 1 which is also a bit of an indication.

    • Having a beauty like this but putting it on the vodafone network is like keeping a thoroughbred in a playpen.

Wait no, a playpen's actually enjoyable. Make that a swamp.

i ordered with handtec, but it's still not shipped yet, can i cancel the order anyhow?

    • yep, u can cancel within 10days of purchase.

      • but i can't log into their site at all, how do i cancel it?

        • just email them

  • You made a mistake in the description, phone is $749 from allphones, not $799.

    • i assumed its online only without Delivery cost. it does state both prices on the site.

  • Forgot to ask does it have any branding on there at all such as Optus or Telstra?

    • +2

I believe someone said it was optus branding

      • Would that be a problem for future firmware updates though like with Nokia?

If Nokia release an update Optus customers have to wait for Optus to release their own firmware version which takes ages from my past experience.

        • +2

Thats always the problem with most Android phones unless you upgrade them via unofficial ways.

    • +1

well for another 3~weeks, you wont be able to get anything else…….
can u show me a better price for this in-store and in-stock????

as this deal is a in-store pick-up only deal……if not revoke your vote

      • -4

gee and i thought this was a bargain site, optus obviously have the rights to this and having a monopoly doesn't seem like a bargain to me

        • +3

gee and you rage over your neg getting revoke

        • +1

One man's monopoly is another's early release Norman! ;)

    • +1

no one likes noobs in ozbargain either.

      • +1

        Lulz! ;)

  • +1

can use phone with any carrier?

    • +1

      outright phones are fully unlocked.

  • This looks like a really awesome phone but may be worth getting it on plan

  • +2

The price will reduce in a few months time.

    • +11

And it'll be REAL low in a few years time.

    • -4

in 3 months its probably down to 60% of todays value

    • iphone 4 peeps can trade for a dual-core phone, sahweeet

    • If you look at something like the iphone 4, the price has only dropped around 30%.

      • can't really compare with apple products, just compared with a galaxy I or nexus s

      • While plans for the iphone have dropped I thought outright hasn't changed one bit….

      • +1

This is simply because of Apple's yearly product cycle. iDevices maintain good resale value for the first year of their release then nosedive precisely when the new version comes out in September.

Android phones compete with each other, so there's a decent influx of good devices that each have to convince you that this is your phone. This is why they're priced more competitively.

  • hmmm brought a HTC Desire HD back in November 2010. Tempting. Mate got one of these yesterday on a Optus plan. It is very very light, I was amazed. Also quite thin.

The interface is very different to HTC Sense, which I like better. Also Vodafone release 2.3.3 update yesterday for DHD … so it's tough.

Great price though, for outright and quality of hardware.

  • Has anyone purchased from Handtec and got the phone delivered yet?

Its £409.99 plus Fedex delivery of £28.90

Thats £438.89 or $674.751 AUD delivered (+/- a few dollars depending on your exchange rate)

    http://www.handtec.co.uk/checkout.php?xCmd=s1&jssCart=8ad5a5…

    Any thoughts?

    • I pre-ordered the phone from Handtec. Paid on April 29th. The phone was released on May 3rd. I received it on May 5th. I paid close to 700 including Fedex. Phone was slightly more expensive then I think.

I bought a HTC Desire from them as well. Paid for Fedex that time as well. Delivery is 3 days tops to Melbourne.

  • +3

ARGH! I come to ozbargain to save money - my wallet is now $779 lighter :)

  • Anyone know why the allphones one says , Optus customers only?

    • I believe Optus got the jump on the other carriers and have it from the start of June. My sleuthing tells me that others will have plans released at or near start of July and will cover all major competitors. Be interesting to see how they all stack up as I'm up for a new plan and of course $0 new toy :-)

      • +1

Umm but if I get it outright it's still sim free right

        • Yes it is sim free but the phone will have Optus software on it

  • seems the only stock in Aus until around the 18th will be optus branded…

  • Does anyone know if any telechoice (in Sydney) have them instore so I can give them a try before I buy? I'm planning to hold back till the 6th of June to see if theres any new iPhone upgrades announced at the WWDC and if not i'll just grab up one of these.

    • i doubt very much any stores are willing to open one just to use as a demo regarding the amount of sales they are getting on this phone, the only way u might luck out is if a store person personally has one and can give u a quick demo, which is very possible since my 2 local stores had about 6 store people who had them….lol
