This is the previous model.
The HW-Q90R has just been released which replaced this one.
Wow they already superceeded the HW-N950, I only got that 8 months ago.
OP I don't mean to side-track the topic but are you able to tell me if it's worth upgrading from the HW-N950 to the HW-Q90R? The Samsung page makes them look pretty much the same. Thoughts?
Apparently there's only small tweaks to the new one, so probably not worth upgrading
The new model isn't that much more at BingLee…:$1395
I would still say save your money and just get the older one… it's almost exactly the same except you get eARC and some questionable game mode for the new model.

I can vouch for the HW-N950, volume can go crazy loud and at my place I never go passed volume level 25 (it goes to 100) so it scales well to any size room.
It's important where you position the unit as you want to maximize the bounce back of the surround speakers, I have never had a problem with the up-firing speakers hitting the seating area but you will need walls or a flat surface to bounce the side firing speakers back at you so it does require some aforethought. Also Sub-woofer placement can make quite the difference.
To calibrate was a hassle as it's not in-built with the unit, I had to grab the Dolby Atmos (or DTS:X) demo disc from the internet and play the 7.4.1 demo while holding my mobile SPL app and dial in the volume of each speaker channel, I found the up-firing speakers will usually need to be increased to match the side and front firing.
You guys probably already know all this but just in case someone needed to hear it.
Kind of kills me a little inside that eARC was not a thing in 2018. I was one year too early for both my TV and my Sound System.
Honestly very disappointed that Samsung have updated after only 9 months of release
Really odd. Especially since they're both exactly the same hardware wise. It's literally a software update which could have been done to this model.
Very poor support from Samsung on these soundbars. Including updates.
not sure that warrants a neg as those deals have only 1 and 2 units left respectively.
Appropriate uses of negative vote
- Cheaper price elsewhere
Perfectly warranted. If someone really wanted to buy this, they'd obviously prefer to save as much as possible. Neg is to highlight that. If store rep drops their price, I'll drop the neg
That's an $83.32 difference, pretty significant.
Well how about just not voting for it? My thoughts would be:
- The stock level in the items you referred to wouldnt even qualify as a deal on this site (due to insufficient stock)
- When the sites you reference run out of stock will you retract your neg?
I don't know why you are getting negative votes, you could of just saved 1-4 people $83 if they where looking at this deal and wanting to buy.
Have an upvote.
EDIT And their gone.
Thanks for the links, picked one up! was waiting for the best of the eofy sale but for $955 delivered if there is any left end of june wouldn't be a lot less than that as its a great price.
Due to the cost price changing again we have revised our sales price, which comes down to $952 after discount.
