  • Windows7 Starter can't use more than 1GB; also, (as my experience with AOD257) not more than 1680x1050 through external monitor. No such limitations through Linux.

    • I have no problem using 2gb on m Lenovo S10-3 running Windows 7 Starter.

    • Win 7 Starter SHOWS 2gb, so it must USE it.

  • +1

The N455 isn't exactly what I would call new. I got the same model but with the N550 for $318 with the 20% of at Harvey Norman so this isn't anything amazing.

    • Is that offer still available?

    What's a lapy?

    • lappy - laptop

        I know what a lappy is :)

  • hows the battery?

  • CPU is only an Atom N455…

nothing to get excited by, & not dual core AFAIK.

  • Thank you for the contribution. This netbook is good for the price of $299. I would recommend increasing the ram to 2gb if you end up running windows xp. I use the earlier N205 Toshiba netbook as a backup to my desktop.

    • you can get same specs acer at OW for $250

      • When the new Acer PCs arrived at our work 1/3 of them were faulty straight out of the box.

  • I think for an extra hundred you can get a lot more http://www.lasoo.com.au/offer/notebook-computers/asus-x52n-n…

    • Your link might be a good deal but it's a full sized machine - not really an alternative to a netbook
