So no reason at all for your negative vote?

Just commenting so I can report your comment later in case no further reasoning is supplied.

Interested to know how you think my comment violates the rules of this site.

      • +3

Can't handle opinions that differ from your own, so you must find a way to remove them?

        Sad.

        • Can't follow rules because they don't apply to you when you're on your high horse.

          Sad.

    • +1

So you feel sorry for the staff but at the same time you want to waste his time?

    • +3

I imagine responders are setting themselves up for a lot of Adani spam. 😊

      Better them than I.

  • +2

Is it just this coal mine leading to pollution or destroying barrier reef? If coal is the problem then any new coal mine shouldn't be given permission.

  • +5

This will cost me a lot more in the long run. No deal.

  • +10

I said no to coal(mo). Unfortunately, the majority of Australia voted Liberal. Need to figure out how to tackle climate change over the next 3 years with a pro fossil fuel Liberal Government.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3pTvYcW0H0

    • +2

Gotta look out for those coal farmers doing it tough out there. Who said the liberals aren't looking out for everyday Aussies?

  • +3

the real problem is its indian run, not australian

    • He says typing away in his coal powered home with his account he created so he could put in multiple negative votes.

      • +1

Yet you participate in society! Curious!
        I am very intelligent!

  • +7

Even if you ignore the environmental effects, the economics of renewables will eclipse coal eventually and financing for coal projects will dry up in the future (already banks will not touch the Carmichael coal mine). This will happen no matter how hard people lobby for coal.

It is up to this country whether we want to stick our heads in the sand and ensure that we are behind the curve ball or start taking steps to ensure we do not end up as a totally backwards nation in the future with massive job losses. It is in the best interests of this country to start planning for the future whether or not you are a supporter of coal.

    • +3

There's going to be a huge demand for Australian gas during the next 50 years. The Government would drain Sydney harbour if it meant more revenue.

Atm battery technology is limiting renewables.

      • +1

The untapped huge gas fields are in the north near Indonesia. Why Australia sux up to Indonesia with foreign aid, to support USA development interests in that region.

  • +2

    Poor lefties.

    • +16

Why is it lefty to not want to kill the environment? Thats NEUTRAL, bud. You're just so far right that anyone not right looks left.

      • The lefty part is to slacktivise online that achieves nothing.

        • +9

I mean there are regularly more left protest and actual movements in action than anything from the right.

So its not like these thought arent actually backed up by actions.

What does the right stand for? When does the right do anything but "stick it to the left"?
          /

          • -2

@ScruffTheJanitor: I think you're confusing yourself. The left whinge about everything and anything that doesn't suit their agenda. The right act on what they think is right, and if they can't get their way and the left get theirs, they move on.

      • +4

RWNJ's find it easier to try and trigger people than actually make an effort to care about something.

They're like (are) teenagers who act like they don't care about anything because it's cooler to them to not care and fail than it is to try and fail.

Some people just don't grow up

        • What have you tried?

          • +7

@[Deactivated]: -Installed solar panels and have reduced my energy use to using the least amount of grid power the family possibly can
            - Aiming to install batteries to further reduce the grid power we use
            - We hardly use he heater, even during winter we just put more clothes on or deal with being a little bit cold
            - Car pool where I can, encourage more people to do the same
            - Compost and recycle most of my rubbish, we only throw out one bag a week now
            - Vote with political parties that support long term changes to how the country handles our environmental problem
            - Speak to my MP so they are aware that I'm a constituent that is concerned about this and many other things

I don't participate in protests because I don't have the time or energy. But I applaud anyone who does something to make a meaningful presence. Even though they might not do anything of immediate substance, they make others who think the same aware that there's still something to fight for and to not just sit back do nothing because it's too hard

            • @Herbse: Wow… do you even realise how big your your carbon footprint is?

              • +2

@hippyhippy: Yea. So just do nothing, right?
                Thanks for playing.

                • -1

@Herbse: No.. stop pretending you're doing something for the world…

People calling you out aren't pretending… we know whats happening and its not human induced.

                  • +3

@hippyhippy: ie. Close your eyes and do nothing.

It's okay, I know it's much easier to blame everything else than it is to put in ayn effort, so I can understand the appeal.

We don't think any less of you for it.

                    • @Herbse: What are your direct, receipted costs of helping the environment per year (not the indirect/calculated ones, not the lost opportunity, but actual rates, fees and expenses. Actual skin in the game).

                      • +2

@[Deactivated]: Not sure what you mean by fees. I paid for the panels ($6k) which, thanks to subsidies, will pay itself off in 2.5 years. Compost bin ($80).

The rest only saves me money. We've gone from paying a few hundred a month in electricity to being in credit most months. Gas savings is huge with less heat being used. Petrol savinsg from car pooling is obvious.

According to my solar system stats, our house has saved 2.83 tonnes of CO2 emissions since it's install last November. So saying "humans dont contribute" is a complete copout to me.

You don't have to chain yourself to a tree to make a difference. Things everyone can do at home all contribute, and if it saves you money in the long run. How can anyone argue?

                        • @Herbse: I can't see how you are even attempting to be either carbon neutral or positive.

                          • @[Deactivated]: i would've thought his (her) actions are a good attempt to becoming carbon neutral, at least in reducing carbon output. no?

    • +6

Conservatism was a conservative issue up until the Right embraced corporatism and cronyism.

  • +18

My first 'No' vote on ozb!
    "Major issues with retailer":
    * Adani prosecuted over release of coal-laden water near Great Barrier Reef
    * Alleged unscrupulous practices in India and links to corporate tax havens

The tshirt might be free, but the consequences are very expensive.

  • +8

For the most part, support for this mine isn't even about coal. It's a "right" vs "left" thing, a war which the media has shamelessly nurtured for their profits. And Australia looks pretty f'n dumb because of it.

    • +6

Yep. Sure am confused how you get called leftist because you dont want this mine. Surely this is a neutral issue.

      • +1

Neutrality, nuance and respectful debate doesn't make Rupert rich though. Man he must laugh at how the public eats it up.

  • +7

I have noticed that the hashtags expressing support to Coalition have been removed. This "deal" should have been removed judging from the original post as it was highly political and highly partisan. Are the Ozbargain monitors partisan?

    • +2

Although I didn't notice at the time "Free stop Adani sticker packs Free Greens bumper stickers and other similar deals" were posted by the Stop Adani people.

So apparently the moderators in allowing one group to advertise similar have allowed the opposing group to do the same.

  • +2

Bit of interesting dialogue found on the terms of use in the adani website here:

"Neither ADANI GROUP nor any third parties provide any warranty or guarantee as to the accuracy, timeliness, performance, completeness or suitability of the information and materials found or offered on this website for any particular purpose. You acknowledge that such information and materials may contain inaccuracies or errors and we expressly exclude liability for any such inaccuracies or errors to the fullest extent permitted by law."

I agree that a free t-shirt is a good deal. However stating I love coal in the deal and in the comments section is clearly just shit stirring. I don't think that has any place on ozbargain either.

  • +9

    Major issues with retailer

  • +1

ordered a few. I don't really care for the message (anti and pro-adani) but I love free stuff. free = bargain in —my— book. Thanks

    • +7

Somehow your view is even sadder and more damaging than people that support the mine

      • +2

        shrugs

free = bargain as I said above

I can't be involved in every issue that's out there.

edit: you will never see me judging your life choices

        • +6

You are being involved by wearing the shirt, mate.

And you should probably care about an issue that will kill an Australian icon. If you can't get behind saving the great barrier reef, then what can you get behind?

          • @ScruffTheJanitor: I can get behind bargain/free stuff on a site like OZBARGAIN

            • +4

              @mrjayviper: It ain't free, mate.

              • +1

@ScruffTheJanitor: I'm not paying for it. They are sending it to me for free. That's free in my book

                • +5

@mrjayviper: nothing free about promoting the destruction of the planet.. i can imagine you in 50yrs as winter disappears from the Australian continent, turning to your grandchildren "but the tshirt was free"

                  • @knackers: Shrugs

                    Dead people don't/can't care

                    • +4

@mrjayviper: and there we have it.. you'll be dead before the shit hits the fan so who cares. You summed up the position of modern day conservatives perfectly. It's like burning your own house down just to bask in the heat on a cold wintry night.

                      • +1

@knackers: It's a fact though. Nothing conservative or leftist about it

                        • +4

@mrjayviper: Your forebearers planted fruit trees and you're planting landmines. Meh.

      • +3

The real problem regarding climate change isn't the deniers, its those who are indifferent, and it has been throughout history for any major issue. It's those who don't take a stand who are the most damaging

        • +2

The bigger problem is the misinformation put forward by News Corp newspapers, who have become cheerleaders for fossil fuel companies. The tobacco companies proved that you didn't have to prove that smoking cigs were safe you just had to cast doubt that they were harmful. The merchants of doubt have had a few more decades to perfect the art of muddying the waters.

        • I disagree - I say the real problem are the governments because they are elected to act in best interest of their citizens. Citizens are allowed to be fallible (ignorant, bigoted, egotistical, etc), governments are not, and undoubtedly, increase in pollution, global average temperature, land clearing and (dare I say) population is not in the best interest of citizens.

          • +1

@AlexF: Mate, citizens vote for governments. One side has an actual climate policy, one has Gina Reinhardt's hand up their ass. One side tried to introduce a climate policy when they were in power, the other fear mongered like it was the end of the world. If you don't care enough to vote for a party that's actually going to deal with the problem, that in it of itself is a problem. Indifference will kill us. I don't think bigotry or ignorance should be tolerated on any issue, it stands in the way of progress. We can't pussyfoot around serious issues for the sake of "muh tolerance of all opinions."

  • +6

    Disgusting… contemplating ordering to edit.

  • +7

Issue with retailer as posted above.

  • +8

Once the big companies feel like they'll lose their interests, they'd do anything to prove they're right such as "On December 14, 1953, the CEOs of the six largest cigarette makers met secretly at New York’s Plaza Hotel to discuss a strategy for countering the bad publicity. What developed over time was a joint strategy to twist science and mislead the public about the dangers of smoking."
So, I wouldn't be surprised if the coal companies make articles/research or whatever to prove that it's ok…. but guess what?
like smoking, coal will never be ok for us or our children

Our health and our children's health is worth more than whatever money or economic benefit coal will get us!!

  • +7

Why would we support coal to get energy when it is known to cause both global and local issues?

  • +7

    Really hope Adani buggers off

  • +7

Brain-dead marketing for a scumbag who's killing our country. NO DEAL!

  • +7

Hard to say advertising is a bargain

  • +7

So I am not a member of the Greens party but I found some free stickers from them on the internet…
I'm guessing it's an allowed deal?
    http://www.janbarham.org.au/order-free-stickers/

    • +4

      sweet please do

      just ordered some :-)

      • +4

        Just checked posting guidelines.
Seems like there's nothing wrong with posting something from a political party. I also tried to find free stickers from Labor and Liberal but couldn't find anything for free.. They wanted donations in exchange for bumper stickers…

I don't want to start a Saturday afternoon flamewar (as I am studying) but someone is welcome to post the deal of these free stickers I found!

  • +7

no bargain this should be reported as spam

    stopadani

  • +2

any respectable admin or mod will remove this as this IS NOT a bargain.

    • +3

The free stop adani stickers were allowed. But not this?

      • +5

op has intentionally put this up to troll and trigger.

        simple as that

        • +1

In any case, the mod had already allowed this deal/bargain.

Edit: not sure why I was negged when I just stated a fact

        • OP loves coal and free t-shirts. Deal is best of both worlds.

  • +5

The real cost is having to defend your decision to wear the shirt every time you go outside.
That would be a very annoying cost. No deal.

    • Shirts are worn in and out of the house

  • +7

    Political spam

  • +1

Should've done this before to find out the 2019 election result.

    • +5

only 26% of the Australian population want this to go ahead…

  • +5

This stuff shouldn't even get clout

  • +7

Not a bargain IMO. Really question OP's decision to post this.

  • +7

    (profanity) Adani.

  • +5

Politics has bleed into OzBargain… sad 😔

    • +5

Mods completely lost the ability to moderate the website properly. There's other websites that have and will continue to benefit while ozbargain drops the ball.

      • Mods has also allowed the anti adani free stuff.

        • +7

You missed the point unfortunately, you must admit these sort of posts are becoming a common feature and certainly something that didn't bring you to the website all those years ago.

          • +1

@eskylidder: Are implying no political or "sensitive"bargains of any sort?

            • +1

@mrjayviper: Nice try friendo, enjoy your day!:)

              • -1

@eskylidder: You didn't answer my question though. Since you said I missed the point.

                What is your point?

  • +6

Not a deal as this will end up hurting the country, tax payers and environment

  • +4

My only issue with OZB is the decisions of the mods on what's acceptable these days. Lacks direction and has allowed for joke, trigger posts to the FP. Dilutes the purpose of the site and encourages trolls. This deal is obviously a Saturday watch people argue post. Much better offers that would appeal to the majority lose out.

    • Trolls? Didn't you neg a well titled item that you have never tried?

      • +1

If fruits are produced by plants for animals to eat and spread seeds around, how come lemons are so sour? Well, a lemon is not a naturally occurring fruit, it's actually bred from a sour orange and citron, the sour orange itself being bred from a pomelo and mandarin. So it's not the product of evolution but selective breeding. Life didn't give us lemons after all.

        :) Enjoy your day

        • +1

Did you really only just work out that lemons are the product of selective breeding?

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: Did you really bother replying to someone that clearly doesn't want to engage with you? Sheesh, take the hint an antagonize someone else. I'm glad you can mute users :)

            • @eskylidder: I was being supportive of your 8th grade biology show and tell. Maybe you grew out of liking turtles.

  • +4

    just wrong
