  • Thanks will get one just missing nfc and the free steak knives.

  • Looks way better then any $150 phone you could pick up from any local physical store..

    • +3

And once your eyes have been opened, you never turn back to the stores again.

      • +3

Until you buy an UMDIGI product, you find out most of the listed features are fake and the phone falls apart within 3 months owning it. Then you swear never to buy a phone without going to a physical store again.

In all seriousness, get something Xiaomi. UMDIGI is a complete scam.

        • Have you owned one

          • +5

@paulaus: Yes, my post is my first hand experience.

            • @Fabio08: Mind sharing which one you had? Looking at their history, they seem to be improving over time (with the fake stuff at least).

              • +6

@frogduck: It was their flagship about 2 years ago or so. I got caught up in all the marketing and fake video reviews. Purchased two on the day they were released and both were riddled with issues and unusable within 8 weeks of owning them.

I purchased a Xiaomi straight after and it was chalk and cheese with the UMDIGI despite being a worse phone on paper. My brother hasn't touched a Chinese phone since such was his disappointment.

They probably have improved but any company willing to lie about a product and release fake reviews like they were won't ever have my trust again. The second camera on the back was a dummy camera to make it look like it was there for portrait mode 😂

                • +3

@Fabio08: Yep I remember the fake dual cameras they were touting! Their recent A3 pro budget phone has had half decent reviews but like you said it's still hard to find real reviews. Guess we'll wait and see if their newer range is any better. Thanks for sharing!

                  • @frogduck: So many part reviewers out there.

I was looking at the z2 pro, sounded too good to be true and it was

                    • @mbck: Yes, hard to tell the difference with some, but others are pretty obvious. No real reviews of this one yet though.

                • +1

                  @Fabio08: Hi Fabio!
                  I'm from the UMIDIGI company.
We're sorry about the bad experience you made with the UMI products.
Some of the previous phones were really bad and we know that.

But it's a fact that the company got a new owner in 2018. (Maybe you realized the rebranding from UMI to UMIDIGI?)
Since then we're a nearly new team and we put more value on after sales service, software and updates.
I can understand that you were not satisfied by the previous UMI but I ask you to give us a second chance as we changed a lot.

                  Best regards
                  Lukas

        • wish I'd seen this before I bought one last night. :/

        • Have not tried an UMIDIGI phone, but I can support your get a Xiaomi suggestion.

Recently got a Mi A2 after having a Nexus 5 then an LG G4, must say I am extremely pleased with this phone. Runs super smooth, even after having it for a few months now.

Only downside is the camera is not up to par with current flagships, especially when it comes to recording video, but hey for like $240 I can't complain. It's good enough for snapchat and stuff.

          • +1

@Boioioioi: So what's wrong with camera on mi a2 I watched reviews and they said it was good.

            • @paulaus: It's not awful, but I feel like people doing these reviews are comparing it with even cheaper phones. It doesn't really compare with flagships, even old ones. E.g the camera on my old LG G4 is way better. It isn't bad enough to complain about if all you want to use it for is snapchat and stuff, but I wouldn't consider using it for youtube videos or something.

It is way better than other cheap phones I've used though to be fair. More like, performance wise I can't tell the difference between this and a flagship phone, where I can tell the difference is in the camera.

In less than ideal conditions there is slight but noticeable noise in photos, I think because the secondary low light camera, whilst it works it isnt great. Photos themselves are good enough though.

For me the main problem is video. It just isnt very good, quite noisy, if you use any zoom at all it gets ridiculously grainy. It is good enough for a snapchat, but not good enough you'd want to make youtube videos with it.

        • I had the opposite. Had a Z1 Pro. Had everything it said it would and functioned as sold. Would probably still be rocking it now if I hadn't dropped it on a concrete floor because a possum in the roof startled me.

        • I've had my umidigi phone for about a month now and have not had a single problem - everything works perfectly and it's better than the xiaomi phone it replaced.

        • I personally cannot speak higher of my Umidigi F1. A touch over $200 delivered and it looks and performs as well as any $400 competitor

          • @scottySK: Where did you get it for just over $200?

            • @Chetnik73: Yeah, I paid more like $300 for mine (including GST and delivery). I saw it cheaper a week later, before I'd even received it in the mail, but that's what you get shrug. I still don't regret buying it.

            • @Chetnik73: The price was discounted through AliExpress sales but the biggest kicker was the shopback 20% cash back offer. Brought it down to about $212 delivered

  • Can't find any reviews for the camera. Otherwise looks decent!

  • How does this compare to sharp s3?

    • +1

They both get close antutu scores, highest I’ve seen for A5 Pro is 92k, 86k for S3, 5th edit now -_- I started at 80k vs 70k
      4150mah vs 3200mah on S3
slightly bigger screen and resolution on the A5 Pro
      USB Type-C to the S3
      NFC to the S3
Headphone jack vs none on the S3
Camera specs are better on the A5 Pro
Triple tray vs hybrid on the S3

Pretty much if you don’t care about NFC and Type-C the A5 Pro is cheaper and has better specs

      • Upvoted.

Sorry I should've been clearer. I mean how does it compare to snapdragon 630

  • +1

    looks good as a phone.

a couple of days ago it could have been combined with 15% cashback so US$83.56 delivered/ AU$122 delivered (including GST, 15% cash back , seller coupon)

  • it says cannot ship to Australia?

nevermind somehow refreshing the page worked

  • Was unsure about this and didn't end up ordering in the end.
Might wait for them to come to Australia.

    https://www.gizchina.com/2019/05/10/hello-australia-umidigi-…

Probably easier to talk to Amazon for problems/refunds ?

    • I did see that article about 2 days ago but I don’t know if it will be this price by then. They say $200 Aussie and $150 US, I guess it’s the OzBargain curse. There’s always a better deal right around the corner.

Who knows it could be $100 Aussie when they launch in Australia

  • +2

Ahh I didn't think this was worth a deal as it's an unknown brand. I bought one yesterday for the advertised $89 usd ($94 inc GST) + 15% cashback.

    • +1

They're a small brand but they've gained a lot of attention with their recent models. I have one and am very happy with it, my only regret is not buying the slight more expensive one - which has a better camera. The camera in mine is average.

  • dat exchange rate ouch

  • +2

I've owed the Umidigi F1 Play for 6 weeks now and I am impressed. The battery life is amazing. After using the phone for about 8-9 hours a day (email, sms, whatsapp, Facebook, etc) im left with 60% left.

The phone came with a screen protector already on and a case, plus 2 USB cables.

No bloat ware apps pre installed at all either.

For Au$260 it's thumbs up for me.

    • Does Bluetooth work? I have had two UMIDIGI Phones previously Bluetooth never worked and there no fixes.

      • I have the F1 (non play) and the bluetooth works fine.

      • Bluetooth, NFC, everything works perfectly

        • +1

This is my first NFC phone, and google pay is super handy (except for citibank who don't support google pay).

    • Just wondering what type of usb cables you got apart from the regular usb charging cable?

      • +1

I got the F1 play recently and it just came with one Umidigi branded cable. I think the poster above was just saying that it came with two cables instead of one - like normal.

    • Can you report on the camera? Apparently the 48MP is just software interpolated up from the same 12/16mp on the F1.

    • Do you have a link where you bought it?

  • But for the price take the risk? Not bad phone for the price

  • 140 Aud on aliexpress

Edit: Forgot to factor in GST

  • For those who ordered, I got notice that they will only be shipping from 25th June to 5th July (presale).
