TaoTronics TT-DL16 Stylish Metal LED Desk Lamp, Office 5V/2A USB Port (Brushed Metal) was $96.99 now $72.74 with Code EHCO2GQV
Stylish Metal LED Desk Lamp, 5V/2A USB Port, 5 Color Modes, 6 Brightness Levels, Touch Control, Timer, Night Light

This lamp looks amazing and the photos don't do it justice, the colour and texture make the Arm & Head look like raw metal. It's definitely the most stylish of the lamps and has a very masculine feel. I keep this in my lounge but it has a separate night light on the head so would be good for having beside your bed as well. I am thinking of getting another so I have one either side of my couch.

Durable and flexible: durable full metal body and multi-angle adjustable head and arm
More colours, more light: 5 Color modes and 6 brightness levels up to 1200 Lux for the desk
Easy on your eyes: light guide panel transmits light sideways for glare-free illumination
Multiple functions: 5V/2A iSmart USB port, memory function, 60-minute timer, night light, office desk lamp, bedroom desk lamp
Your favourite light: press a single button to set and activate your favourite Color/brightness setting

  • Thanks OP

  • Any idea when they will actually send tax invoices?

it's pretty dodgey that a company is selling, stocking & shipping domestically to Australia but can't give a tax invoice.

    • +2

You can download one from Amazon, click on Invoice and then View Tax Invoice.

This is available on all Amazon purchases.

      • +2

you mean the bit that says

Contact seller for invoice if not shown here

and then contacting the seller, they say they can't provide one?
unless things have changed in the past week?

I asked for two invoices, (since I missed a cash rewards & they require an invoice).
They offered a 10% refund on one and then kept ignoring the request for the other.

I can claim cables, powerbanks, ect on tax, but probably not without a tax invoice.

        again dodgey

        • ok, I will ask the Rep to see what has happened there.

          • +2

@xev: Thanks, i've gone back through, none of my Taotronics/Ravpower/etc orders have Tax Invoices available. Which is disappointing.

            • @[Deactivated]: I only bought one thing, it was last year, but no invoice. It has an order summary, but doesn't have a tax invoice.

          • @xev: You might want to remind them that they are required to provide an invoice.

If a customer asks you for a tax invoice you must provide one within 28 days of their request.
            https://www.ato.gov.au/business/gst/tax-invoices/

              @spaceflight:

When you make a taxable sale of more than $82.50

Nice job failing to mention the critical detail

              • @Davo1111: Nice job filling to read and understand what the ATO said.
Let me quote the rest of that paragraph you didn't read.

When you make a taxable sale of more than $82.50 (including GST), your GST-registered customers need a tax invoice to claim a credit for the GST in the purchase price.

That has no impact on the requirement to provide an invoice within 28 days of a request.

It is staying that GST-registered customers need a tax invoice to claim a credit for the GST in the purchase price for purchases of $82.50.

If there aren't too many words you might want to read this page.
                https://www.business.gov.au/finance/payments-and-invoicing/t…

              • +2

@Davo1111: You mean the critical details
                https://www.business.gov.au/finance/payments-and-invoicing/t…

You need to provide a tax invoice if any of these apply to the sale:

                the purchase is taxable
the purchase is more than $82.50 (including GST)
                your customer asks for one.

                • @[Deactivated]: Note the key words "if any".

May be worth just asking for an "invoice" supabrudda, rather than a "tax invoice".

If you're not registered for GST, your invoices should not include the words 'tax invoice' – you must issue normal invoices.

But then the earlier quotation is talking about when you must issue a tax invoice, so I'm not sure if that applies to them if they're not registered for GST and can only provide a normal invoice…

      • tried to get invoice from SunValley and the response I got was that "We are in process to sort things out blah blah…". I received the same reponse for 3 time between Nov 2018 and Mar 2019. It's may take them many years to sort this one out..

  • Last time they couldn't provide one so refunded me 10% of my order amount.

    • And you/they left it at that, 90% short?

  • Hey OP, any chance for a coupon code for this desk lamp? :)

TaoTronics DL032 Dimmable Color LED Desk Lamp with Built-in 1000mAh Rechargeable Battery

    • +3

I don't have a code for that right now but hopefully, they will give me one on the next week or 2

    Hey OP/Mate,

Last i checked my horoscope there was a legal obligation to provide a tax invoice on any purchase, otherwise the whole taxation system would implode for lack of records, and we can't have that.

TaoTronics stands behind their products with a bonus Free Extended Warranty which you activate by registering your product at www.TaoTronics.com

I can see them requesting a, you know, tax invoice…

And a brief suggestion: there's no need to reproduce War and Peace with every post - just a few words of highlights would save us all some wasted HTML and life force.

    The Phantom
    Awesome

    • -2

And that obligation lies with Amazon and not TaoTronics as Amazon are the store that are accepting the money, shipping the product and so forth.

      • Well this is the first time i've heard of problems with tax invoices, and @supabrudda is my bro.

Is this issue specific to TaoTronics gear, or more general?

ps. I thought blackface was out?

        • +1

Invoices from the store I rep for who are a 3P using fulfillment by Amazon AU are having $0 GST being charged by Amazon AU.

      • All prices on all products on Amazon are inclusive of GST. The only issue here is the Tax Invoice.

        • Hi Xev,

@xev Any chance you can reactivate this deal?

TaoTronics TT-DL16 Stylish Metal LED Desk Lamp, Office 5V/2A USB Port (Brushed Metal)(amazon.com.au) was $96.99 now $72.74 with Code EHCO2GQV
Stylish Metal LED Desk Lamp, 5V/2A USB Port, 5 Color Modes, 6 Brightness Levels, Touch Control, Timer, Night Light

          Many thanks……….

      • Amazon are only facilitating the transaction and filling the order, they are not the seller and do not need to supply an invoice.

It's like asking eBay for an invoice for something you buy, they have not sold you anything so cannot give you one.

        • They provide an invoice when it is them themselves while third party sellers (referred as 3P) do not have to provide invoices. Even if they did provide an invoice the GST will still be $0 as there is no GST charge happening with 3P sellers under $1000.

          • @Clear:

while third party sellers (referred as 3P) do not have to provide invoices

Yes they do. Third party sellers need to provide an invoice
            https://www.business.gov.au/finance/payments-and-invoicing/t…

Even if they did provide an invoice the GST will still be $0 as there is no GST charge happening with 3P sellers under $1000.

            That's untrue.

With the rules on GST and low value imports Amazon will collect the GST for the 3P store.

There will be a charge for GST for purchases under $1000.

For purchases over $1000 Amazon doesn't need to collect GST on behalf of the 3P because GST will be collected at the border.

Amazon will calculate, collect and remit 10% GST on all LVIG sold on amazon.com.au by either Amazon US through Amazon Global Store or third party (3P) sellers, and shipped from overseas to customers in Australia.
            https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/help/customer/display.html?node…

            And

If you placed an order with Amazon Global Store or with a 3P seller for a product which has a customs value of $1,000 AU or less shipped from overseas (low value imported goods or LVIG), an invoice will be available for your order with details of the GST applied. You will also be able to print an Order
            https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/help/customer/display.html?node…

            • @spaceflight: While you've done your research I have access to active Amazon seller accounts.

There will be a charge for GST for purchases under $1000.

Untrue as I double checked. There will be a charge if the seller using FBA chooses to do so as it's their responsibility and not Amazons'. So far from my dozens of Amazon 3P FBA orders none have had GST charged.

One of the relevant parts of the seller FAQ

Will it be different if I use FBA to sell in Australia?

You (and not Amazon) are responsible for your own GST obligations when selling to customers in Australia using the FBA service. If your turnover is greater than $75,000 AU per annum you will be required to register and account for GST on sales of taxable products. If you are registered for GST in Australia and you import your products into Australia you may be entitled to claim any GST that you incur.

So basically if the 3P sellers are registered for GST and meet the requirements then they should be charging GST. That doesn't mean they all are though.

              • @Clear:

You (and not Amazon) are responsible for your own GST obligations when selling to customers in Australia

I'm not sure how Amazon can say that.

Q: I run an electronic distribution platform. What does this change mean for me?
You will be identified as an electronic distribution platform (EDP) if you provide a service
(e.g. a marketplace website) that allows entities to make supplies available to end-users and
is delivered by means of electronic communications.
An EDP will be liable for GST for supplies made through it if it facilitates the sale of $75,000
or more of low value goods to consumers in Australia

                https://treasury.gov.au/sites/default/files/2019-03/C2016-04…

                • @spaceflight: Yeah Amazon aren't being clear enough with their sellers. Wouldn't surprise me if part of that is because of their tax evasion.

                  • @Clear: Yeah I'm sure Amazon will do everything they can to avoid collecting GST.

Even if Amazon is not collecting GST like they should be I am sure that Sunvalley (and your Tronsmart, I don't know if they collect) meets the turnover requirement to self register for and collect GST…

                    • @spaceflight: Thanks @spaceflight.

So to summarise, Xi Jinping and his operatives are blatantly shafting my beloved democratic State of GST, facilitated by American imperialist forces.

      Hey Mate,

They should give me a deal for some of those soon, probably the VAVA ones.

      • Thanks, I'll keep an eye on that. I'm keen on the VAVA ones.

I'd really like an USB soundbar, but yours is audio jack + USB for power. Let us know when you have an all-in-one…

    • What a stupid design, audio should come through USB with additional AUX input for non-USB audio source.

  • hey rep, can you check on the MFI lighting cable deal. its showing as unavailable for me atm. cheers

  • slightly off topic but pertinent to the lack of invoice

I purchased blue tooth headphones at 12% cashback by shopback

the cashback conveniently did not go through (it usually goes through without a hitch when it is about 30c, but that is a whole other discussion)

contacted shopback, they are asking for the purchase docket, which could be the invoice?

taotronics does not give out invoices

so if I am not mistaken win-win for everyone but me :)

  • lightning cables say unavailable

  • Hi rep, may i ask how to get cashback for "TaoTronics TT-DL13 LED Touch Control Desk Lamp - Silver(amazon.com.au) Was $46.98 Now $34.96 with Code: SJ9V5ET7"?
I want to order the lamp but just dont know how to get the cashback.
    Thank you

    • +1

Have a look at CashRewards or Shopback - that should give you the info you're after.

  • So with these kinds of lamps, no bulbs need to be replaced? How long do these lamps last, approximately? I've only had desk lamps with incandescent or CFL bulbs…

    Thanks!

    • LEDs basically never have to be replaced. (If they did die, on this type of lamp, you'd have to either live with it, or dispose of the entire lamp.) I've seen figures of 10,000 hours thrown around, when I was researching competitor brand BlitzWolf's product BW-LT1. I would imagine TaoTronics' figures are similar.

  • Thanks for this timely offer. Last week, I was trying to decide between a BlitzWolf BW-LT1 and a TaoTronics lamp, as they seemed to be the main two competitors with similar features under $100. I ended up purchasing the BlitzWolf for the craft table, but have bought a DL-13 for the bedside table. It will be interesting to compare (even if the DL-13 is a slightly smaller model).

    • Yeah that wouldn't work for me. If i gave my craft table and my bedside table different lamps then we'd be just an allen key away from mayhem.

  • Would anyone know if the offer is still on? I’m trying to enter the code at the last stage of the checkout process as a ‘Promotional Code’ but can’t get it to work. Either the discount isn’t valid anymore or I’m trying in the wrong place! :)

    • It doesn’t work for me either. Would love to order one or even two right now!

      • Hoping the OP can confirm whether they can extend the offer at all? I've left a message…wait and watch. :)
