The Intel Core m7-6Y75 is a very power efficient dual-core SoC based on the Skylake architecture and has been launched in September 2015
I have been tossing up between a new tablet or laptop and have been eyeing off some of these 2 in 1s. I was looking to spend around the 800 - 1200 mark. Potentially going a bit more for the surface pro 6 128gb. Is this deal a good one?
Hard to say. It's an old CPU but the lithography is the same as current gen m3 kaby lake cpus

thanks, I will have a look at those and try make up my mind haha
Harvey Norman has the Surface Pro 6 + keyboard for $1200 at the moment if that's a price point you're looking for
Yeah I have been quite tempted by that. Stretching the budget even further. I think I saw the 256gb black version with the keyboard for around $1550 from the microsoft store, which I think is a bargain because it seemed as though it was selling for $1800ish by itself at JB and HN. Unless I have something wrong. Decisions, decisions!
I would go for the Microsoft Surface. Any efficiency gains from the Y-series processor is neutralised by the small battery in comparison with the Surface Pro 6. While the Y-series processor is perfectly usable (especially the 7th gen model), its just enough with a little surplus for office applications. For burst loads, I tend to think the U-series (15W) being a better option while not consuming too much power when not needed.
Which Gen is this?
