I'm looking for a cheap humidifier. What are you looking at?
Probably something like this but I have to do some calculations to really narrow down what I need. All these cheap humidifiers seem to work more or less the same, using an ultrasonic vibrator to stir up water and then a fan to blow it around. Due to the way they work, any bacteria thats in the water are going to get spread around, so you probably don't want a model that holds any more than a days worth of water.
For me I just need something to get me through the cold nights so I don't wake up with a sore throat.
Keep in mind the water needs to go somewhere, so you may end up with moldy carpets and windows after a while.
