  • Curious if you could put a slim gpu in it like the 1050ti?

    • looking at the back of case there are absolutely no expansion slots

Curious if you could put a slim gpu in it like the 1050ti?

Sure, if you can find a USB3 version.

      • USB 3 wouldn't even have the bandwidth for a modern GPU.

        • Current gen of USB 3 is USB 3.2x2 and has 20 gigabits per second bandwidth, that should be enough.

    • No you can't, these are very small. Probably small enough so that you could even mount these onto monitors

  • +4

This is a Ultra Small Form Factor (USDT) version of the Veriton, you will not be able to add any kind of GPU to this unit.

  • Does the motherboard have the slot though? Haven't had a unit running naked for a long time.

    • Doubtful, these are full up as it is. It's only 25x20x6cm.

    • +1

these usff size all have proprietary mobo with only just what has been designed soldered on. wouldn't be surprised if even the CPU is soldered on.

designed to be small, you sacrifice upgradeability.

      • It's not but bios support would be rubbish for anything newer most likely.

And if people like jet engine noises on CPU load then I guess buy these models.

    • It has a mini pci-e slot but that's pretty much only useful for Bluetooth or wifi… which is just as easy to do with USB.

    Good price.. Shame no hdmi..

    • +5

It has Display Port, which is a superset of hdmi. You just need a passive DP->hdmi cable.

  • Wow are those LPT1 and serial port at the back? I’ve never seen these port nowadays

    • A lot of legacy devices in commercial and POS environments still need those ports. Less a time goes on, of course. Things like pinpads.

  • I wish they sold these as barebones kits, but for AMD platform. That's a nice little case…

  • Anybody know this will do as a nvr for poe cameras and take 2 hard drives?

    • It has a DVD-RW, which uses 1 SATA connection. Potentially it can be replaiced with a 2.5" SSD or traditional drive to fit inside the case. Otherwise external USB drive might be an option.

  • Acer are consistently the worst, most unreliable, most disappointing computers. For a hundred bucks, these would be worth the risk as a HTPC, but for this money, buy a refurb Dell 9010 instead.

    • +1

For me it has always been the opposite, Acer has always been very reliable oddly enough

      • +1

its related to that period in which they shifted their factories and they were produced in china but thats something li ke 15 years ago- some reputations die hard

    • I got Acer Laptop only survived for 3 yrs !! Sold for parts $100 and it takes me ages to find the buyer… no more Acer pc/ laptop for me anymore

      • +1

i have had Dell and Lenovo die right after warranty too. Laptops don't fetch much on second hand market. So it's my turn to try Acer.

        Funny the exact opposite.

    • @jcon from where? I'm looking at something cmall and cheap that I can run in the loungeroom for the kids to play Jackbox party games with their friends through steam.

  • Would this transcode 4K (running as a Plex server)?

  • No GPU, yuck GTFO

  • +1

Would this make a good PC to run a usenet media server?

  • This or the Dell?

  • I'm in the same boat. This deal or this -> https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/183533182966?ul_noapp=true

    • +1

      DELL

    • Add the code PHOENIX and get discount

    • Can the HDD in this deal be replaced with SSD?
