For anyone else interested in the monitor specs I'll save you a click

  • Would the AirPods still have the full Apple warranty?

Say, if there’s a problem with them could I just walk into an Apple Store and they would repair/exchange them?

Sorry for the dumb question, I’ve just never bought anything from Wireless1 before.

    • You would have to find out if they are an authorised seller which supposedly mean that it would come with apple warranty

Not sure about build quality or design of these MSI's.. got a friend who's got his back in for repairs for the third time, super long turnarounds, last time the whole cpu & main board cooked while in to be repaired apparently - he barely even 'games' and when does, it's older games so it's not like he's even going close to 'pushing it'… I'd steer clear myself! I've advised him to request a refund (think it's 3 times under warranty and you can get a refund as far as acl goes?)

    • U can get a refund even if its just once if it is a major fault. Which sounds like it is with a cooked cpu/mobo.

The customer has the choice of replacement or refund if theres a major fault with the product.

      • +6

I have tried to do this twice, they always claim that it is not a "major fault"

MSI actually really sucks for support

MSI GS70 returned for repair 4 times in 2 years
        - Left screen hinge broke
        - keyboard keys stopped working
        - bluetooth/wifi disconnections
        - Right screen hinge broke second time (the right hinge broke right after the 2 years warranty was up, so instead of dealing with their shit, i just used liquid nail and epoxy to fix a $3000 laptop….)

MSI GS73 returned for repair within 2 months of use
        - Left screen hinge broke

I'm not rough with my laptop, just a shit design.

I vouch for this too. MSI laptops are absolutely terrible in terms of build quality and longevity.

Friends and I have been lured in by the "great value for the specs" trap many times in the past.

Issues included melted charging ports, expanding batteries, screen hinges breaking, dead motherboards, touchpads dying etc.

Sounds like a MacBook Air last way longer than this if for normal uses, don’t buy mobile gaming devices (especially laptops) since the cpu throttles due to inadequate heat dissipation therefore it can’t even reach its advertised clock speeds. Just buy a laptop a cheapy laptop 500-700 can do basic work and get a gaming desktop at home that can be upgraded relatively cheaply instead of replacing the whole unit(in case of a laptop) and can be overclocked(if you are into those stuff)

    • I bought an older one a couple years ago. GE73VR with the 6Gb GTX1060. Never had a hint of a problem. Going strong with weekend gaming and daily use as a computer.

  • How does MSI compare to Asus?

    • +4

Trust me MSI is absolute garbage for support, i can't speak for ASUS.

all the laptop reviewers on youtube really only use the laptop for a week or so, long term durability of the GS series laptops suck (see my comment above)

      • Thanks, will avoid MSI. The Asus ROG Gl504GW is similarly priced with same specs, might get that (eventially)

        • That would be the better option.

Must resist buying monitor :) thanks OP

  • Is it worth the extra $350 for a RTX 2070 instead of a 2060?

  • Snapped up one of the Samsung monitors - thanks OP!

  • Which brands are the best for laptops. Anyone have a list from best to worst brands? Thanks.

    • +2

I'd personally be buying a metabox as my next gaming laptop unless a sweet deal on high end Asus rog or MSI. Every brand has different tier units though which means they do squeeze good specs in a crappy poor quality piece ; killing it's longevity

First thing to look for is dual cooling fans (1 for each the CPU and GPU) and go from there. Bulky is better than thin and light in gaming laptop designs too

      • +2

I almost never personally build/buy. I ride hardware till its USELESS. Busy doing it all for others.

I took the plunge with a Metabox (a few years back), and I couldn't believe I'd hesitated. Blown away with what I got for the money. Happy every day, as if it was the first.

        • +1

Yeah bro still got mine from 2012. Dated now especially since I moved home to a proper pc but otherwise it'll be another metabox laptop when I move out

    • I just imported an Alienware Area 51m from the US for 3k and it is well worth it compared to these joke books being made by msi and metabox.

      • For $3k, and complicated warranty, it'd want to be!

  • Not a bad price but viewing a youtube Vid with rear cover open,
the unit has 2x M.2 PCIe ports but the 2.5 SATA port is right next Below to a HEAT Pipe.

To me this would effectively be cooking whatever 2.5 Sata drive you have in there.
Which leads me to think that very more than likely another RUSH JOB design hence the Price.

So upon that fact on this lappy, I think I will pass!

  • The monitor has height adjustment.

For an ultra wide, it’s almost worth buying it for that feature alone.

  • is it good for starcraft2?

    • Sc2 will be too old to run on this ;})

  • hmmm the monitor is alright price

  • Moinitor is coming up as $714.00, guess its been price jacked

    • i thought that as well. there is like an auto $20 off when added to cart. with code applied brings prices down to AU $697.00

  • Anyone know the difference between a LC34H890WJEXXY and LC34H892WJEXXY?

    • The number 2???

Seriously though, the LC34H892WJEXXY is NOT height adjustable. That seems to be the only difference from the LC34H890WJEXXY
