  • Which one is better inspiron or vostro? Just wondering. Thanks.

    • My take is, that for an extra $400 you get these extras
      - extra 8GB ram
      - touch display
      - UHD screen
      - extra 256GB SSD
      Has to be worth it.

      • says touch display on both tho

        • Not on the vostro in the other post.
Also, I was looking at components, not particularly the model.

    • +1

Only slight difference of quality and nothing worth the extra.
      Edit: I mean in vostro

Also try using coupon code: EOFY@5EPPDISCOUNT

      • Wow. $1424.04 now

        • And $39 (2.8%) cashback with cashrewards!!! Tossing up between this or XPS 13 hmmmm

          • @gezza90: 10% at ShopBack! Have a look.
My only issue is the MX130 graphics card, equivalent to a 940XM.
Want to use this for photo and video editing and not sure this will be enough. The cpu, ram, uhd and ssd do compensate though. Even dell outlet doesn’t have them this cheap, only refurbs for similar cost

      • So inspiron with same spec has higher quality or vostro?

        • Vostro has slightly higher

    • +1

Which one is better inspiron or vostro?

      It depends.
The Inspiron Laptop range includes 3 different consumer grade models (3000, 5000 & 7000) with the 7000 series being the top of the range. XPS is the next model up and is Dell's premium consumer laptop range.
      https://www.dell.com/en-au/work/shop/business-laptops-ultrab…

The Vostro Laptop range includes 2 different business grade models (3000 & 5000) with the 5000 series being the top of the range. Latitude is the next model up and is Dell's premium business-class laptop range.
      https://www.dell.com/en-au/work/shop/business-laptops-ultrab…

Given the same specs, the Inspiron 7000 series is better quality than a Vostro 5000 series.

If I had to choose between the Inspiron 15 7000 $999 and the Vostro 15 5000 $1,049, I'd go for the Vostro (due to better specs, namely 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD & Win 10 Pro).

    Putting a 4K display in 15.6" screen…. I still don't know why this is a thing.

    • +1

Title says fhd, buat description says 4k

    • +1

I've got an XPS15 with an UHD display and have seen your comment (or variants as such) mentioned a lot.

Personally, I will not go back to a FullHD display after having UHD at 15". There's a very noticeable difference.

      • +1

I'm not disagreeing that UHD is superior, but if you're impressed by your screen I'd suggest it's more likely the colour/panel technology that's the impressive part rather than the UHD.

I think if you put a 15.6" 1080p OLED against a 15.6 4K IPS you'd be saying the OLED looks better.

        • Nope, it's both. But the resolution makes a big difference.

I use Lightroom a lot, and also Autodesk Inventor, have done with both FullHD and UHD displays. The difference is very noticeable.

    • +1

1080p is too low for that size but I'm not sure what the actual optimal resolution is. The MacBook Pro is 2880x1800, so this is probably slight overkill, but better than being blurry.

  • I would say that Inspiron 7000 is a bad choice at this price.

If I had this kind of money to spend on a Dell laptop, I would pick up an XPS 13 refurbished from dell outlet, if I wanted a smaller chassis, and latitude (3 year warranty) if I wanted something bigger.

XPS gives better build quality and larger battery. latitude 5000 is also better build quality and components, plus much better 3 year warranty.

keep in mind that you can get 15 inch mobile workstation with MX150 equivalent graphics, high performance cpu (more powerful than this 15w i7) and huge battery, also from Dell, for $1300. it will have less ram, less disk space, the screen will not be 4k, but you'll be able to do so much more on it.

my 5 cents for what it's worth. I wouldn't buy Inspiron 7000 unless it was half this price.

I would pick up an XPS 13 refurbished from dell outlet

Keep in mind that all home laptops from the outlet only have 1 year warranty. The business ones still have 3 year warranty.

      • that's what I said. if you ask me, I would never buy consumer grade laptop again.

    • Hmm I've had my eyes set on 16/512gb XPS 13 frost white with 4k touchscreen but can't justify the $3k price tag. Having this at $1385 with cashback I think is a good deal. I haven't seen any good deals on the XPS 13 (9380 model) apart from the $2399 deal on ozbagrain 2 months ago.

      • what are you going to use it for?

        • Travelling (overseas 1-2x year), interstate a few times, on the train most days, word/excel, I also use a system architecture software called MagicDraw, browsing, light gaming, at home I have a docking station setup so I'll upgrade my 1080 screen to 4k. I'm the type of person who uses laptops on average 6+ years so build quality is important to me, formfactor and weight is important to me. Been using my surface pro2 for almost 6yrs Now and while it's holding up great, it's really showing it's age. I don't own any tablets so this laptop will be my single most important electronic asset.
If I see the XPS 13 on sale now for $2399 I will jump at it. Combined with TRS (I'm travelling within 2 months) And claim on tax will bring the cost down further.

          • +1

@gezza90: then all things considered you could get warranty extension and really use it to the full!

me, I need to wait till workstations with parameters I need weigh less than 1.5kg, then I will have a dream machine to buy. right now everything there is is a compromise

Didn't see this until now. Ok buying now. Topped with Cashback of $66 making this deal <$2300. Thanks mate.

I have this model but with the FHD screen not the 4k screen like the one here.

Initially I was not too happy with it and contemplated returning it to dell because

I find that the colours reproduced by the screen especially blue is not too accurate.
The keyboard key travel is too "short".
    Keyboard has no number pad
The battery is internal and cannot be removed unless you remove the back cover and some screws.

However, it is cheap (Bought as refurbished) and meet my needs eg. touch screen, backlit keyboard, i7, etc…
and I cannot find another laptop that has all these features at a similar price, so I decided to keep it.

I hope my comments can help someone make a decision.

    • precisely. even the top class Inspiron will not have colour accurate screen and good keyboard. for better components including keyboards one needs to look at Latitudes (class 5000 preferably), XPS have best screens in consumer lineup, also great screens are found in Precision line.

  • Can we stack 2 coupon codes?

    • +1

      No.
      EOFY@5EPPDISCOUNT was a single code.
