Really good price for an RTX 2080 that's not a blower cooler AND from a big brand coming from TechFast.

For those wondering about performance, the RTX 2080 is ~5% better than a 1080Ti last I checked, but obviously these have RT cores specifically for Ray Tracing.

NVIDIA has recently released drivers to support FreeSync monitors, which means you don't necessarily need to fork out extra for a new monitor if you already have a FreeSync monitor/specifically buy a new monitor for G-SYNC

Up to your needs/enthusiasm to decide if you think the RT technology is worth it (also Navi coming out soon if you're a Team Red kinda person)

    • Good info.

    • Note that freesync requires DP on Nvidia cards (to the best of my knowledge).

MSIs Ventus card has a plastic backplate I think, but it's cooler is fairly good noise/cooling wise. Very nice card for the price anyway.

      • Oh man.. I hope that backplate is safe. My 2070 aorus backplate is metal and is the hottest thing i've ever felt after 1 hour of gaming inside a PC before.

        • I haven't heard anything bad beyond it just not helping with cooling. Should be fine, just a lot less practical then it could be.

And hopefully we get some fine wine effect as turing becomes more mature!

This is a good price. Quick info about v1 vs v2. Other than the minor size difference, v2 changed the USB-C port into another DisplayPort. If you want to do VR, this may be something you need to watch out for. The USB-C port can also be used as a standard USB 3.1 gen 2 USB-C port (however, if you have a reasonably recent and decent intel chipset board, it would most likely has a USB-C 3.1 gen 2 port already; not to mention there aren't that many worthwhile USB 3.1 gen 2 devices yet).

Anyway, if USB-C port or VR via USB-C (VirtualLink) is mandatory, then v2 is not for you.

Good price and PEEL20 discount code makes it even better.

Good spot. Through Reddit I found a link to a translated Polish article that further describes the changes in V2. But being a model they don't send out for review leaves question marks over things like noise and thermals.

Just got my RX580 in the post today. Looks pretty good. All I need is a processor and ram and I'll have my build ready. Thanks Luke.

  • What's the difference between this one with 3 fans?

Gigabyte are notorious for faulty units, their warranty process is fine but I'd rather not need to use it, MSI is generally very good.

3 fans realistically means it will be quieter as the fans can run at a lower RPM to achieve the same cooling.

It all depends what reddit post you read. Some say MSI poor quality, faulty unit etc, others say Gigabyte. Personally, my Gigabyte GTX 970 has out-lasted previous ASUS and MSI card, both of which died after 12 months. I have a Gigabyte gaming laptop, and it's solid too.
