  • whats the benefit of using an air fryer instead of a fan forced oven?

    • Less cooking time.

    • +2

They make foolproof, crispy chips, wedges, fries etc.

      • +1

You can do this in a fan forced oven with a tray.

        • +4

Oven takes lots of effort and constant turning to get even crispiness. Air friers are much easier

          • +1

@0 0 0: No it doesn't, use the correct tray/dish for what you are cooking and you'll get even crispiness.

    • +1

I think good if you are a single, couple or small family.
But if you need large portion/quantity, oven will be quicker/easier overall. One less appliance to store or to keep.

    • +3

They work like a small turbo charged oven. Quicker and better then oven, I rarely use my oven anymore.

      • Can you please give an example of some things you regularly cook in it? DM if you want. I want one but don't think I will use it.

        • Not the person you asked but for me:

          • roast pork / pork belly / pork chops
          • roast whole chicken / marinated chicken pieces / “fried” chicken / kievs
          • chips / wedges / dim sims / spring rolls / chiko rolls

It apparently makes great roast vegetables, steak, jacket potatoes (microwave for a few minutes then finish in air fryer), roast lamb and beef too however I have yet to try them.

        • Sorry I missed your reply. I regularly cook chicken legs, fish, chops, steak, chips, vegetables, you can cook pretty much anything except I wouldn't do soup lol
I have also made scones and cakes.

          • +1

@ttc72: Thank you. Does the steak turn out better than if it was BBQ'd or not comparable? I ordered one and it arrives today so look forward to seeing if it delivers or if its a bit of a gimmick. Thanks again.

            • @Pootie Tang: Different to BBQ but very tender. You don't get the char marks or browning on it like a bbq does.
I have been using airfryers for about 6 years now, wouldn't be without :)

Power consumption. Oven can do the same great job just consumes nearly a magnitude of extra power

    • You can make the same things in an air fryer than you can with an oven, however every single thing I’ve cooked so far in my air fryer has come out miles better than it ever has in my oven in 1/2 to 2/3 the time.

Roast pork, pork chops, chicken roasts, chicken pieces and chips especially. I own the Kmart air fryer and joined the Facebook group for it and like seemingly most members I pretty much never use my oven anymore unless I need the space. It’s by far my favourite appliance.

The size can be a factor if you need to cook for a lot of people but it’s plenty for myself and my boyfriend. Everything just comes out crispier and meat is just so incredibly moist on the inside.

  • REWARDAPR19 isn't working for me :( Anyone else?

    • +1

Should work as it works when I’m not even logged in, worst case it’s $2.46 more without the code lol

      • I'm trying to use it for a Fitbit so maybe can't be used on that? I'll try another browser. Tried logged in and not.

        • oh ok, may not work on all products, got the code from this deal suppose to take 10% off but only takes few dollars off

  • Is the cheaper pan set worth it?

  • tempted to purchase the air fryer.. but thinking i can make the same things in that recipe book in the traditional oven :-/

Same item here on catch for $179 https://www.catch.com.au/product/tefal-easy-4-2l-classic-hea…

    • You can use a normal oven.

    • You can make the same things in an air fryer than you can with an oven, however every single thing I’ve cooked in my hair fryer has come out miles better than it ever has in my oven in 1/2 to 2/3 the time.

I have the Tefal Air Fryer and can vouch for its quality… Excellent and easy / straight forward to use.
We have been using it for about a month now and its quite fast to heat up and pretty much cook anything you can sort of cook in a deep fryer or oven.
I suggest to buy the Decor Oil Spray which goes on half price sale have been mentioned on OZB quite a few times previously… It helps to spray oil (only 1 spray would be sufficient for most applications) when cooking.
EXCELLENT PRODUCT - It can be purchased for $103.20 to $129 on Ebay and online when on sale…

    • Have you tried making a Coles pizza in it?

      • I believe Coles makes those.

(Ok, smartassery aside, it's technically Della Rosa that makes them)

    • Does it still heat evenly with aluminium covering?

Kogan sell the fryer for $179

  • The Tefals are great air fryers. The main difference between this and the Kmart ones is that this is easier to clean. The Kmart ones lose their non-stick surface after 1-2 cooks.

Also, the pictures are deceptive. They show a tray full of chips. It doesn't work that way. It's like an Oven. You can put a single layer of chips at the bottom of the basket (a single serve) and they'll cook perfectly. Stack them on top of each other and they won't cook.

    • +4

I chuck a whole bag in my Philips one no problems. Shake about 3 times during the cooking process for crispiness. Takes about 15mins from cold start

      • -1

Sounds good. I've used the Kmart one and the Tefal one and both end up soggy and uncooked.

        • +4

          uncooked

You need to cook them longer so they aren't undercooked

          • -1

@spaceflight: Obviously. But after 50 minutes with the outside chips burnt and the inside chips soggy, it just seems like it would have been better using the oven.

    • I have bought three of the KMart units so far - one for me, and two for friends. They do not lose their non stick surface at all. I'm up to perhaps 50 sessions on mine, and it looks like the day I bought it. Friend reports similar.

      • I must have a dud then 'cause mine completely lost it after a few uses.

        • If you use a dishwasher they can harm the non stick coating. I think it is the abrasive ingredients in the washing powder.

          • -1

@spaceflight: I did start dishwashing it but not until some of the coating already came off. But that happened 'cause I couldn't clean the stuff off the coating without using steel wool.

what's a quick way to get 2000 points?

  • +3

Is this a good price? 2000 points are worth $20 so $108 total.

    • Unless you get points from a credit card and they "cost" way less. EG im about to recieve 120k points from ANZ for $295 which equates to $5 for 2000 points.

      • +6

        Sell value

    • Where and how can I sell my points for that price? I have about 25k points. Will be happy if I can get 250$ for them.

  • +1

Thanks OP just ordered airfryer for $71 as there were points accumulated from https://www.vodafone.com.au/plans/qantas-form?cmp=cbu:post:p… if someone has recently joined vodafone red plan..

  • Im more curious to know why its $700 or so retail

  • So to get the Dyson, I need to pay $791 plus 2000 points?

    • -4

That sounds like a bad deal. You can buy a real vacuum for less.

    • Why bother? Buy it from ebay during 20% off.

      With V12 out, I wouldn't pay $800 for a v10 anyway. Screw Dyson.

  • So fryers are 100 oily free and healthy way to cook now days?

    • U can uee oven plus baking paper

      • Or a non stick tray and no baking paper

  • How the this fryer compare to Philip Air Fryer?

    • +1

Phillips is probably better but this About 60% cheaper so hard to compare, they all do the same thing in the end, I’ve got this older model Tefal Airfryer works great

      • +1

        Thank you for the feedback!

    • Philips has the twin turbo technology and the hot air swirls like a powerful tornado throughout the entire cooking basket which cooks the food more evenly. I guess you get what you pay for in the end.

  • +1

Thanks so much OP. I've been meaning to buy one for ages and most of my QANTAS points expired last year so it was good to finish up using the remainder.

  • What the different between this Deluxe model compare to TEFAL Easy Fry Classic Air Fryer XL?

    • This one is manual other is Digital screen, other then that same thing

  • We have a full size built in Miele Oven. Any good reason for getting the Air Fryer? Wife's been asking for one.

    • +2

this one baked the frozen chip much faster and the chips guaranteed to come out crispy, not oily and soggy, but trick is you'll have to give it a shake or 2 in between

    • You can cut your own photato and cook like fry chip?

    • +2

Vastly better results from an air fryer for chips, chicken nuggets, etc - anything you want “crispified”.

Just pull the basket out and give it a good shake 2-3 times while they’re cooking.

      • +1

        Thanks guys for the feedback.

    • Oooh we have a rich one here.

  • +2

thanks op finally convinced myself to get an air fryer

  • +1

Finally got one, 2000pts + 88$ best Bargain

  • +1

    Thanks got one.

I can't convince myself to spend 300+ dollar for a Phillips one.

  • +2

Just checked my frequent flyer account, I have zero points, all my points must have expired :(

What is the quickest way to get 2000 points? I checked classified but people are selling 500K points.

  • Does it do good roast veges?

  • +2

    Thanks OP!
I got the basic Air Fryer for 14,805 points, which is about $77 equivalent.
Always wanted to try one, this was a good excuse!

    • how do you work out about 15k qff is equivalent to $77?
It would be much more if you claim it for flight?

  • +1

    Thanks OP!
