That cpu and 2 x 4gb seem like a mismatch? 2 x 16 might be of more use

      • +16

Nobody is buying this cpu and putting it on a low end motherboard.

        • -2

The RAM is simply an added bonus. You could easily resell it to make some cash back. Some people do crazy things to get a good CPU.

          • +2

@CGB Solutions: Or why not give something that complements the CPU, which is lower case "i".

            • @askbargain: What would you like? If it's reasonable, we could deliver

              • @CGB Solutions: I reckon we should get some 4GB USB sticks.

                • @askbargain: Would rather do you a 64GB Sandisk USB-C stick

                  • +1

@CGB Solutions: A person who is seriously building a PC with i9-9900K/KF are most likely going to spend $3-4k. Anything you are going to offer is going to be below $60. That isn't going to change anyone's mind.

            • @askbargain: the motherboard will determine hoe fast ram you can use …so the motherboard creates a lot of variables.

        • +3

Nobody is buying this CPU on a budget

      • +2

        budget $855 processor

          • +1

@CGB Solutions: Your definition is different to customers, then your business is at risk.

          • -7

@CGB Solutions: Regarding this comment, it was just a joke, we completely understand the definition of budget.

            • +4

@CGB Solutions: Not a good look to joke at potential customers.
I think most people here are genuinely trying to give you some advice on what a bargain is and how you can attract someone to buy from your business.

    $848 shipped here

As above, 4gb sticks are pretty dumb. Seems you wanna clear the shelves of the ram…

    • +2

To be fair the RAM does have value though (although maybe not to the person who'd buy the processor)

      • +4

Yeah I'm not doubting it has value, but the only way they can offer it is the profit level of the CPU.

Would be better if the CPU was the cheapest price, with the ram still "free". That would show true transparency.

I don't think it's worth a pos or neg vote, it's just a blah 'deal'

  • +3

I will give my son the processor. The 4gb things are for my step son.

    • Fair and reasonable.

  • Is this a backyard business?

No address on the site.. Sole trader not registered for GST…

I wish you all the best but I would never spend this kind of money with a company that may not exist next week, I'd rather spend a little more and buy from a real established business… Businesses that are run as a hobby or a sideline make me nervous…

      • +2

If FLICKIT is correct in saying you're not registered for GST (which a company search reveals that you're not), this makes you effectively $88.09 more expensive than Megabuy if the buyer is a business (company/sole trader etc.) registered for GST. Why you might ask? Because a business claims the GST back on purchases immediately.

Megabuy includes GST $848inc GST shipped (claim back $77.09 GST), CGB shipped $859 (no GST to claim back against revenue GST) = $88.09

The business will then be left with the asset purchase cost of $770.91 Mega or $859 CGT.

It's a little confusing that the post says GST included but a company search says you are not registered for GST; maybe something you need to work out. If you're not registered for GST you cannot claim to have GST included. If you plan to get bigger and have a turnover of over $75k p.a you should register anyway.

Not meaning to sound patronising, just a tip from a small business owner.

Why are people so negative to someone trying to create a business. Everyone has to start somewhere.

        • +1

The ABN has been registered since July 2017, in the same time when you register an ABN it also prompts you if you want to register for GST (well it was when I signed up for mine a few years ago).

The OP advertised it as including GST, and now edited that out of the post. That’s extremely dodgy (and illegal) to advertise a price including GST when they’re not even registered for it!

          • @Nousernamehere: Ahhh, that makes sense. Thanks.

          • +1

@Nousernamehere: GST note in pricing which may have been an oversight has been rectified and there are legitimate reasons why an entity may not be registered for GST (one being that it's a fledgling business starting out and looking to minimise reporting overheads).

Lack of a premises address listed on website is common with online businesses, although usually comes with more info and bio on the proprietor and ideally a postal address, ABN info etc, testimonials from known business clientele etc.

Giving benefit of the doubt to OP here, but having said that, there wouldn't want to be too much doubt when spending $850 on a processor.

            • @buffalo bill:

GST note in pricing which may have been an oversight has been rectified

It’s not an oversight, they specifically noted in the post that “GST included”. Any sole trader/business should know if they’re registered for GST or not - it’s an extremely basic thing to know.

Have to wonder if they’re supplying a ‘tax invoice’ as well, which they can’t be as they’re not charging GST.

              • @Nousernamehere: By oversight I mean error without malice… perhaps written by someone inexperienced. However, I agree it shouldn't have been written in the first place. Infact, "no GST" should really be stated next to the price of the advertised product, although I'm not sure if this is technically a requirement as the $859 is the final price after tax (which doesn't apply)…

And every business has to provide an invoice with a sale (in this case shouldn't be called a "tax invoice"), but these invoices should clearly show no GST and the tax/GST field would be blank. One would hope that's what is being provided so his clients can process and lodge their own BAS correctly.

Why not purchase one of these i9 bad boys and report back to us, Porthos?

  • +4

Not going to neg the deal although I think the price is currently not competitive.

Also the concerns re GST and sole tradership are very legitimate, I appreciate the OP being upfront and honest about it but it means the business did not intend to turn over 75k or more annually, a gross revenue of 6250 a month. Which is not much at all.

Don't think OP is being dodgy, but there are just more risks buying from OP than from established sellers who deal a lot better with warranties, etc.
