Also worth noting that this is a DRM-free copy, meaning it can't be redeemed on Steam.

For once in my life I am longing for DRM. Oh how Steam has corrupted me!

      • +1

you can just add it as a non steam game

  • Cheers for the heads up. I don't have an email from Humble about this yet.

  • I followed your link but couldn't find any way to download the game. Do I need the $12 Humble Monthly subscription?

    • No. Scroll down and you'll see this.

      • That isn't there when I use Internet Explorer. I signed in on Edge and it's all good now. Ta.

Using IE !!! By choice or are you on one those corporate/govt machines?

  • thanks this has been on my Steam wish list for a while

  • This game is hugely overrated, but good deal

It's a boring "game" without any substance or replay value. Easy thumbs down, not worth your time even when free.

      • It might be boring to some, I can see that, but to say it has no substance is very harsh.
If you like games like Firewatch, or Edith Finch you'll love this. One of my favourite games from the past few years. If you think of it more as an interactive film you might get more out of it.

        • To be honest, I played this a few years ago when it first came out and thought it was pretty cool but looking back it was a pretty insipid story and there wasn't much gameplay to help rescue it.

The most interesting thing was the

          spoilers

crawlspace under the main staircase (?) where there was a satanic shrine and evidence someone who had lived in the house prior was a serial killer or something.

Other than that it was a pretty boring coming-out story.

        • I loved dear Esther, so I assumed based on reviews that I would be fine with this game.

I wasn't, it was dull. Like playing a machine for pigs.

        • If you like games like Firewatch

Firewatch is in a different class, much bigger world, much more substance, atmosphere, style and story. Gone Home is just a house, where they reduce walking speed to make it longer to explore. Interactivity is virtually zero. Even my single comment right here has more going for it than Gone Home. It's not a game, it's a 3D model with some lazy point-click elements.

  • Yours to keep or only part of the trove while you stay subscribed?

    • +2

DRM-Free so yours to keep forever and ever.

      • Sweet. Thanks!

  • It's a 1.82GB download, but they seem to have a reeeeally fast connection that it downloaded in around 4 minutes - I wasn't checking the whole time but Chrome was showing a peak of 7.7MB/s at one point!

  • Good deal but wouldn’t rate the game. Unless you enjoy point and click adventures, minus the adventure.

  • How do you install this? When I click on the exe file it just opens up into the game.

edit* all good just placed the files onto the hard drive and created a shortcut.
