Great price for the RX580 8GB. I have one of these from a TechFast build I purchased a few months ago. Runs 1080p 60FPS at NO issues on Ultra settings, can run 1440p at 60FPS for some older titles at Medium settings. No issues for eSports titles at high settings.

RX 580 8GB for $191.20 That's an all time low.

Cheapest on static ice is $288.82

Thank science the mining boom is over

    • Now that's a reasonable price to weigh against waiting for Navi!

    • Yeah, hell of a price. This is 570 range.

    • -1

How can they list it on eBay as "brand new" when the card has been used for mining? Surely they should list it as Refurbished

      • +1

I would assume it is brand new. The RX 580 card was in high demand for mining as it was cheap and mined ethereum well.

      • +2

It's just a Biostar buzzword as far as I can tell, like GAMING.

      • +2

i think they mean the card is suggested for mining.

    • Thanks mate! Just bought one and waiting for delivery!

  • +2

Silly question, does this card compatible with Asrock z68 extreme4 gen3 motherboard??

    • Sure, see no reason why it wouldn't be.

    • check psu for 8pin supply

      check cpu for bottlenecking

      • +1

        I have i5 2500k, 8g ram. Does it work?

        • +3

          yes that's good enough

what about power supply ? do you see any 8pin plug cable dangling around

          • +1

@dcep: I have 650W power and I am sure i have a 8pin plug. My GTX 580 stop working few months ago so I am contemplating whether I should get a whole system ( https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/452470 )or just get this card and stick around for 2 more years. Any suggestions??

            • +1

@prawnhead: Zen 2 is out soon, hold off till then?

            • +1

@prawnhead: I suggest waiting for zen 2 and navi. You survived without a gtx 580 thus far, I see why not you can wait some more months.

            • +7

@prawnhead: I'd advise just getting this and waiting a bit to upgrade the whole pc personally. Your other parts should still be capable for at least another year.

I'd normally just recommend a 570, but this is a stupid good price (in the 570 price range).

    • I have the same cpu, same motherboard, same wattage PSU as you with an RX 580 and it runs well.
I plan to upgrade to 3rd gen Ryzen and keep the RX580, coz it does any game Max settings at FHD.

    • i've been told that almost all motherboards are compatible with any graphics card, past maybe 1998.

    • +1

      Hi,

Of course Zen 2 will be good, but your CPU is special enough to overclock to 4.x GHz.

You're very lucky that your CPU and Z Motherboard should allow you to easily overclock to 4.5G or even higher. The CPU won't be the bottlenack in all current games.

      I'm using i7 3770(no K) and asrock z75, OC to 4.2-4.3G, and I'm getting this card.

If you're a more serious gamer maybe consider nv 2060, but it's $500+. Otherwise you can get this card, and should be good for gaming in the future 1-2 years.

  • +4

What does it mean by mining card? Can I use this normally?

    • +2

Normally means reduced warranty and a bare-bones box without the marketing imagery on the outside and support media and docs on the inside.

      • +1

Note that this could also merely be a "buzzword".

        • +6

          Yeah it's a Biostar buzzword

      • Firmware on some mining cards was different to retail cards …

    • Yes, it can still run pornhub.

  • But can it run crysis at 60fps

    • +13

      but can this meme die

  • +1

    This or an RTX 2060?

    • +3

Need to know a lot more information about your gaming habits / intended use, the two cards are pretty much in different leagues and with that, price ranges.

To be honest for e-sports / older titles this is probably good for gaming at 1440p, new AAA titles at 1080p. 2060 is another step up which will push you in the 60fps+ 1440p AAA title direction.

    • +2

      RTX2060

    • +1

I've got both, depends on what resolution/settings you want.

    • +16

$190 or $500ish, not very comparable

    • +4

That's like asking Nokia 3.1 or Samsung Galaxy S10. Totally different price point and target market.

  • Is it worth buying 2 for crossfire ?

    • +10

Imo no. Crossfire / SLI is pretty buggy and poorly supported these days, my experience was poor.

    • +1

      Just committed and bought 2.

      • +3

I don't think you did as all the quantities sold are in units of 1.

        • +1

he bought 1 then went back to buy another 1

    • +3

I've got two RX570s and have barely used crossfire. Support isn't there although when it is the performance is amazing. I've played Strange Brigade at 4k 60fps ultra setting with no issues. Better to buy a 1660Ti or 2060 if you're willing to spend $400+.

    • No, spend the money on a 2060 instead.

  • What's the difference between a 'mining' card and a normal card?

    • Did you read the post from corbz above?

  • -3

This may well be an upgrade on the $45 dollar Gigabyte GT 710 I ordered yesterday… but doesn't seem worth to just play indie games and watch occasionally 1080p videos.

  • With this card, will I see marked improvements over my current Gigabyte 680 windforce like higher fps in ultra settings? Thanks.

  • the mining card means it has less features and maybe warranty too. The last deal was a $180 odd card that only had two DVI ports as outputs for example.

    • Seemingly just biostars choice of buzzword. Comes with the standard array of ports, can't find anything that says the warranty is lesser

  • Should I bother upgrading my 1050ti to this or is it too marginal?

    • And does anyone know the dimensions of the card?

    • About 40% more performance than 1050Ti and these cards are pretty big, off the top of my head its around 25cm long with dual pci slot design.

  • Wow what a deal, I thought a RX570 at 190 was a good deal a few months ago and now this. Wish I'd waited!

  • +1

    https://www.amazon.com/Biostar-DirectX-Elpidia-Graphics-VA58…

reviews aren't promising on other sites.

    • +1

Sold by Deep In The Mines LLC (A cryptomining company) and the product is based on two reviews…

    • +1

Both of the reviews linked there definitely make it sound like the seller is the problem, not the GPU.

  • decent ports too

  • Whats the warranty on this?

    • +1

Haven't been able to find Biostars, so am assuming you'd just be running with techfasts

    • +1

      1 year, through us.

  • This card in most of the reviews, was only slightly better than 1060 6GB - but hotter and taking more power (almost double) compare to Nv 1060.
Should we wait for 1660/1660Ti/2060 to have a special price, or Navi?

    • Ok I bought it. Hopefully it can last 2 years or more.

  • Caved. Hopefully they go alright.

  • +3

Just added another 20 units. They are all the Dual Fan card, the same we use in our systems.

    • Did they use the same listing as the posted deal? The last sale through that listing was at quarter to 11 (35m ago), 20 minutes before your post.

      • +1

Hmm it went OOS before I could add more Qty so I chose Relist but it is a new URL: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/192899489432

How do we get mods to update the link?

        • Thanks for that.

Not sure. Report the OP with a comment asking to update it?

        • I've updated the post.

For future reference, just report the post and a mod will update it.

Hey Luke - Is there a reason for the 10 business day handling time? eBay is saying 13th of May delivery minimum for me? cheers

          • +1

            @jmal4580: Nah it'll be 1-2 days

            • @luketechfast: Cool - Can I pay extra for express shipping to Sydney? Wasn't offered when I purchased on eBay. Cheers

  • Is Biostar a good GPU manufacturer?

    • +1

      No they are not

    • I've heard of them and it's Taiwanese not Chinese so should be miles better. In fact I think you could buy biostar brick mortor stores in 10 years ago

    • Playing devil's advocate there's probably a reason that this is less than $200 (and still nowhere close to more popular brands when not on sale).

  • listing ended.

  • got a 480 8gb, worth to crossfire these.

Currently don't struggle on games, but wouldn't mind trying to push 100fps+.

    • +2

winter is coming. so Xfire will keep you warm.

no joke, the heat it puts out is insane

  • This card would have been pretty good for Xplane I should have bought it because it has so much memory but am wary of non Nvidia cards because of driver issues. Either way the longer I hold off upgrading the better. Maybe able to find a 1070 GTX at similar price in a few months.

  • +2

Has been a few days, still haven't been processed yet. The handling time is really long.

    • I don't think they would process over the weekend…

I got a shipped notification on mine early this morning
