1120
superb250

My current usenet subscription is up for renewal and I found this deal on Reddit. According to the rep it's for a limited time and could last for up to a week.

This promo is for the full plan, 50 SSL connections, 3900+ days retention, unlimited bandwidth.

This special will renew automatically at this price until cancelled. Existing customers who want to take advantage of the deal, please contact support to be switched.

I took up this deal and a test download flooded my 100 meg connection.

  • If you don't download much you may consider buying a block, could work out to be way cheaper.

    • Get a block w/who?

      • Don’t think Ninja does block.

NewsDemon has a promo on blocks at the moment, US$8 for 1TB or US$15 for 2TB. Like ozleb says, much be cheaper for those not downloading too much.

        • thx, funny to me as ND is who I used to use… good deals there, and $35/yr too…

  • I currently have a yearly subscription to Newshosting which finishes next January - do deals like this come up often? Feels remiss if me to sign up to this now if a better deal could be had later in the year.

    • I’ve only been on the usenet train for a few months, and it seems like deals is common (easter, black friday, xmas etc). There’s a few subreddits you can check to keep up with the deals, but most of them gets cross posted to here anyways.

  • Couldn't sign up, looks like ING has a transaction block on them. Shame because it's a good price, but I'm not going to switch banks just to pay for it.

    • They accept PayPal

  • How do these guys compare to thunder? I’ve been on an unlimited deal with them for years, think it works out around $7.50 per month. Maxes out my 100/40 all the time. Haven’t come across anything taken down yet

    • Content-wise there won’t be any difference, as both are on Highwinds backbone.

Only difference would be support/price/speed, haven’t used Ninja before, so can’t comment on that.

    • I can comment on speed, seems comparable (I'm on 50/20).

  • I remember leaving usenet due to all the take downs and incomplete blocks.

    Has this changed?

    • Less of an issue if you automate with sonarr/radarr.

Block accounts with another provider will help, especially one that is based in Netherlands. DMCA takedowns doesn’t apply there, they have a EU alternative which is slower, so the content stays up for longer.

      • +1

Block accounts are not worth it in my opinion.

If you use a good indexer you'll have access to content that is won't be taken down in the majority of circumstances.

The other problem with block accounts is trying to find one that doesn't have the same DCMA takedown as its a 3-5 year old file anyway, so the slower EU alternative makes no difference.

        • Usenet Farm and Vipernews are NTD. Using Sonarr/Radarr on a 24/7 unraid helps reduce incompletes but buying blocks certainly has been been beneficial for certain tv series which are constantly targeted by Auto DCMA takedown requests

  • Awesome deal thanks mate just burnt through my usage based Usenet account so can switch to this now.

  • thanks for this deal! I have been on supernews @ $12USD/m for the past 8 years. For some reason i never really shopped around… just tested this and seems even faster than what i have been using!

  • Just signed up…..anyone have invites for any indexers would be awsome….

  • Rip everyone else on my fttn node… :)
