Pity it OOS there, coz not only is that also a good price; whilst SS normally has exhorbitant shipping fees; they currently have a $10 shipping cap, making that shipped lower than the cheapest on Staticice by a buck sans shipping! :)

if you register your interest, they will email you when it is avail…

i did same for a memory stick a while back and was back in stock in about 2 weeks…

Think they'll guarantee the price while we wait?

  • JV combo usual means DVD and Bluray Readers. No where in his title did he say it was a writer.
I think I have the same one and take note this thing doesn't write dvds either.
Plus you'll need cyberlink software or anydvd to get this thing viewing blurays.

It's a combo drive. Drives that read/write the lower format and only read the higher format have been called combo drives for a decade or more.

        • Yep, and ultimately become virtually worthless because when you try to resell everyone wants the writer of the "higher format" too.

Consider what you'd pay for a DVD Combo now days - you couldn't even give the thing away!

        • Tech becoming obselete and worthless isn't exactly confined to combo drives. I'm pretty sure my 16x DVD reader from 2002 isn't worth much either.

  • Ideal for Perth & country Australia only

    O_o

    I don't get it.

    • They are a WA company so shipping is expensive elsewhere. Only suitable for country Australia where you can't get to a store.

    • Perth based store, so pick up is better value. Postage would mean it would no longer be a deal?

    Good price for locals! :)

    • We usually miss out over here :)

Why are BD readers so expensive?
You can buy a full standalone player for under $100, and some of them even have SATA BD drives inside.
