17 negative votes for mentioning they did not post to WA. I'm thankful I didn't mention they didn't post to Qld either!!

      • +1

The negs on his commend mainly for his neg on the deal.

      • +2

I negged this comment for not understanding why u got negged initially… so there is no misunderstanding

      • Sure, that's why you were negged </sarcasm>

    Can't you post a direct link ?

  • +4

Sadness - no delivery to QLD. God I can understand no delivery to WA (they are 20 yrs behind), but QLD? Common!

    • +4

Haha.. they even post to TAS but not QLD and WA.. South Eastern AU FTW..

      • +1

I'll never understand why they dont. Given that every postal service (excluding bicycle couriers in the CBD :p) delivers nationwide.

        Silly fools.

  • Given USB 3.0 power, does this 3.5" need external power supply?

    • +2

high chance need power supply its 3.5"

    • +1

3.5" drives require both 12v & 5v power. USB only provides 5v, regardless of whether is USB2 or USB3. FYI USB3.0 does provide a hight wattage, but the volts stay the same.

      • +2

arghh keeping up with tech specs makes me want a brain upgrade.

    • +3

I bought two of these. They use a plug-pack style remote power supply.

This is what makes the Ozbargain site a must visit site, good example for all Ozbargainers.

  • Can officeworks match this and deliver to WA you think?

  • -1

wish it was 2.0 power run and not a power supply one..

    • +2

Then you need to buy a 2.5" drive. Which will be smaller but more expense (and probably slower)

  • +1

Just got one. Free delivery in SA now as well which is nice. Thanx OP!

  • +3

BTW - these have a Samsung drive inside. They even report to the OS as a Samsung.

  • +2

    excellent buy

  • +3

    comeon officeworks!!!

  • GRRRRR NOT QLD!!!

  • +2

Just ordered one plus a box of paper for $59.94. It's a steal!

    • ordered the same. Bargain.

  • which one is better offer.. dicksmith vs. staples?

  • Staples, 1tb @ $55 inc del
    DSE, 2tb @ $129 inc del ($64.50 per tb)
Better depends on really what you are after

  • +18

hmmm, I just bought it along with paper to get the free delivery, but I found out you can play that stupid boxing game to get a free $20 voucher, if you play the game first and then pay with the voucher its only 35.50 along with delivery.

Hope it works for anyone who hasnt chosen the paper option =)

    • +7

For those who don't see it, the game is at staples home and its under the tab win a free trip to LA

      • Thank you! I played the game and code it game me was "". I used it and it deducted $20 off the total. So only $35 delivered, sweet as!

edit: removed the code, since on the invoice it says "20 Voucher - Vouchers can only be used once per customer".

    • Thank you, Breadie!

    • Thanks Breadie, CHEAP!

    • I cant believe that i hunted high and low on google for a staples coupon, only to have it right in front of me.
Oh well, at least the $20 voucher is valid until June 30th.

      • arghh I did the same thing lol

    • Mate, thank you, i love bread!

    • +1

    it is out of stock…

    • +3

      Arrrgghhhh, damn you broden.

      • Still heaps why ppl keep saying "out of stock"???

        • hmm this morning it is out of stock…however, now i checked and ordered, they seem to refill the stocks
          +1 for OP

  • +1

Stock still available. Just order one - $35.49 delivery, with $20 off coupon, very nice.

    • Really? I've kept trying and it says out of stock!

  • +1

Argh why have they raised the price of the 320gb 2.5" to $99??

  • +3

paid 3pm yesterday, and now it's in my hand already, so damn efficient

but I missed the $20 off voucher, oh well, you can't get all the bargain, right?

  • Dam, missed out on the $20 off! Says sold out upon trying to add to cart :(

Got my Dad to buy one, but he's just realised USB3 is yet to reach Mac OS X. You can buy expansion cards, but these only work for specific drives.

    Anyone know more on this?

    • I reckon still ok coz I tried and reached the confirmation of payment hassle-free?

P/S: If still available, try the code "GAME20". U guys don't need to waste time playing the game coz he code would be the same for everyone.

    • +1

USB 3.0 drives are backwards compatible with USB 2.0, they'll just run at USB 2.0 speeds instead.

Some USB 3.0 hard disks come with a USB 3.0 card but cards are available separately. USB 3.0 PCI-E cards can be had on eBay for less than $20. Dunno about OS X drivers for them, though.

      • Yeah, I've told him the drive will still work. But the main selling point was the faster speeds, which he won't be able to get :(

Still though, it's a great price. I know about the PCI cards, but yeah drivers are the issue. I'm sure there'll be a solution for Mac OS's at some point down the track though.

        • +2

A quick bit of Googling found a modified version of the LaCie USB 3.0 drivers that apparently works with other brands:

          http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=236209&…

        • Ah, nice find :)

I did a bit of googling before but obviously wasn't looking in the right direction. Beauty. Hopefully not too hard to install it, Macs aren't really my cup of tea :p

  • Out of stock :(

    • check again…it seems they refill the stocks.

  • +1

Just picked up the 1TB for 35.49… awesome..

  • back in stock? just ordered one.

  • me too.. back in stock..w asn't in stock 5 mins ago

  • Nice, back in stock and just got one.

  • It has become too good to be true lol. They are selling it roughly 7-80 out there.

Site is so slow it's unusable.

Seriously, if you don't need a HDD stop stockpiling a whole bunch of 'em and let people who are actually in the market for one buy one.

    • but what if there is a nuclear winter? then who will be laughing…??

      ah ah ah ah…

      • +3

A nuke would cause an EMP that would kill the electronics in both the drives and your computer, so unless you're going to read the data off the platters by hand… :P

        • +2

in the aftermath of a nuke explosion there'd be plenty of time to sit around read the data off by hand in our bunker. :)

  • +1

crap, I didn't see the voucher. But you know if's still cheap and it's shipped this morning.

  • +3

Wow, just ordered yesterday, arrived today! HDD working perfectly. Many thanks!

    • Did you check which drive is inside? Seagate, Samsung?

      • +1

Just checked, Samsung. That a good thing?

        • To me they are the best of the current crop of cheap green drives. Had some issues with WD + Seagate, won't touch Hitachi again, but that is only my limited experience.

        • model number?

      • llama reported they are Samsung (above)

    • +1

      samsung HD103SI

  • Anyone got any info on how to open this up and replace the drive inside? Are there screws or is it clued together like the WD drives?

  • They can't process my credit card…

  • -4

anyone got their hd? whats the hd inside?

    • +5

How bout you work that index finger and scroll up to 3 posts above you….

      • true. i really expect a model number rather than a brand. ah well

  • Ordered mine yesterday and just received it today… Blazing fast! :)

  • cannot find on site, direct link?
