Asics Kinsei - $172.20, free delivery on Wiggle

90

Hi All, first post - been looking at Asics Kinsei - had them sized/priced in Aus for about $330. Found them on Wiggle for $172.20 with free delivery.

I've tried some other sites but these seem to be the cheapest, with a reasonable selection of sizes.

If anyone has come across something better, please jump in.

Cheers

  • These are expensive shoes, even at the cheaper price…how much better are they then Kayano's?

Being familiar on this topic, not all styles will be a good match for everyone. GT-2160s are by far the most comfortable for me… I've tried most(not these Kinsei though). Get down to Athletes Foot first to figure out what's best for YOU. More $$ doesn't always mean better performance.. or comfort for that matter when it comes to runners.

      • 2160s are best for me too.. for dirt road/bush track running.

I use to be a loyal kayano runner. Decided to try the kinseis out (bought from wiggle about 3 months ago) I'd definitely say they are worth the extra, I'm not to sure I can go back to kayanos now but I'm not to sure I can keep spending so much money on shoes :(.

I wouldn't call this a bargain deal(actually closer to spam than a bargain, more related to the forum…), I bought some off wiggle 3 months back for $175… And you can't really compare with Australian prices because we get ripped off, this is just average price…

I got the black kayanos… Love 'em.

Read an article the other day that talked of shops starting to charge people a "fitting" fee (of up to $50) which they will deduct from the cost of the item you buy if you buy it from them.

They're trying to stop people trying stuff on in the shop and then buying it online.

I couldn't see why they needed to but I'm beginning to understand now. They can't compete against half price.

Not the best way to "fight back". Sounds like the direction banks take to offer "service" and it doesn't endear them to anyone. So are they agreeing that all their shoes are already $50 overpriced if they can absorb the fitting fee or will they raise the price by $50 to make the same profit/shoe?

Not every customer that walks into shoes/clothing shops is going to buy what they tried on from the internet. Maybe it just didn't fit, feel comfortable or look as good as they thought. Offer good service, reasonable price and product range and you will gain customer loyalty. Fail and retailers will look to blame others/the Internet. Ask Gerry Harvey how well that strategy worked ;-)

  • As someone who worked in the Sports retail industry and has loved running for years, I have always been drawn to ASICS shoes as (along with Brooks) they make the best running shoes you can buy.

I always used to wear Kayano's as they were the best ASICS had to offer.
2 years ago I sourced a pair or Kinsei's from the US and they were awesome.

They have since been retired and Brooks Trance is my choice of weapon these days, but would still highly recommend the Kinsei's at this price.

  • Before taking the plunge buyers should be aware if they over pronate or are normal. The wrong shoe can cause some serious injurys. Normal width feet are 'D' and wide feet are 'E' and if you're paying this much don't order a size up because your size it out of stock.
With that said, I recently bought a pair of Leather/Suede Kayano's for under $90 Aus shipped! Under $150 shipped would be the sweet spot for me.

  • Price comes to £99.92 at startfitness.co.uk including delivery — almost £30 cheaper than wiggle.co.uk. Plus you get free socks! ;) Wiggle do have a better range of sizes though.
