One reason could be. Say I got 1000 points in my rewards account.
Can’t redeem until I reach 2000 for $10 off.
This deal at a cost of 0.95 would put me cross the line and afloat the 1000 points sitting in my account without have to wait and spend hundreds of dollars to get another 1000 points.

So say it took you 6 months to earn another 1000 points.
@20% interest this $5 works out to ~$1 in interest for a year.
So 6 months is ~$0.50.
Seems a waste to spend $0.95 now.
good suggestion, I am not buying it. just thought of an valid reason.
what about say I am a traveler, got 1200 points left from 6 months living in aussie, leaving tomorrow and never coming back, don't want see the good $5 worth of points from hard spending wasted… should I get this deal then? the drive here is to make up and redeem the 2000 points without waiting, for whatever reason there might be, then this is a good deal.

its a shame you cant use it to pay the ato which only charge 0.15% using prepaid debit cards. guess purchase with amex in store so you can use visa where amex is not accepted is one reason still. does anyone know of any old sytle pos woolies self serve checkouts where you can still use e card to pay for it?

gift cards can't be used any more, unless you use the inception method.

yes, however the $ you earn with those points can't be used against future gift card purchases (at self checkout).

It does. However, sometimes it does not work if merchant enforces billing address.
