Wait, really? I thought the weird "Backup" or "Encryption" software came stored in the drive and you could just delete it.
To be fair, I haven't bought an External drive for quite a while so maybe they've changed their practices.

I was considering getting a Passport cause of the elegant design (that's how I came across the deal), but you saved me.
On a side note, I noticed that "Smartwave" has existed for quite some time. Here's a Reddit thread from 2009
Horrible bloatware that forces installation on this drive.
Much prefer the WD Elements if you are going to buy a WD.
